I am uploading only photos of my home this time, per review guidelines. I self-contracted our home for the last 6 months and have knowledge on the subject as I was forced to have several roofers, contractors, and manufacturers inspect Alex's work. Our superintendent even got in touch with Alex's crew directly and they informed him that they knowingly used a bad batch of shingles because they were trying to dry in the home too quickly. It was also evident that the underlayment ice shield was not pulled tight as it should have been, which caused the ripple effect. I will not excuse the framers (as Alex points out) for their part, but the issue with shingles and ice shield were not because of framing. You can see in the images the issues caused by the framing and then you can clearly see rippling as well. The sheathing did not delaminate but did warp, and a good/responsible roofer would call that out instead of knowingly installing bad shingles on a roof you know will have issues. Perhaps Alex has been roofing longer under a different company... but his original license was issued in 2022. I prefer not to communicate this way but as Alex has not replied to a single text message or call, it seems this was the only option to get his attention.

Where the issue lies is in their follow-on response to warranty issues. Three units in our community have had shingles blow out, leaving holes in the roofing spaces. These issues were reported in August and the first week of September. Owners and Property Managers have made numerous calls for repairs, and Mike and his team tell story after story. They make promises about being out for repairs and telling the Property Managers that the repairs have been completed, but no work has been done. We are now approaching three months of lies and non-responsiveness. Take your business elsewhere, because you won't get facts, truth, or work done from these guys.

I came into this project having been burned by a competitor so I was a bit cynical. Before we even…read morestarted talking about estimates or the job itself the sales person had gotten in touch with my insurance company and started a claim. This is something I didn't even think to do! Even without the insurance payout, their quote was about half the cost of the other company. Once it came time to do the work, I was in constant communication with the foreman. The guys tore off the old roof in a day and put up the new in a second day. The following morning the dumpster was gone. Again, by starting an insurance claim they put money in my pocket before they even knew if I would be a customer! I'm generally nervous about home renovations because I'm pretty dumb when it comes to this sort of thing. I believe the competitor tried to take advantage of my ignorance. Partly because of his good reviews we contracted with J. (Jose) Torres Roofing to replace our roof…read more What a mistake! Jose comes across as a very nice person. And, most of what he did to replace our roof was OK. However, in our experience with him we learned to not trust what he says - he may or may not do it. And, don't expect him to take responsibility for what he does or doesn't do. He said he would seal the corners of our rain gutter - he did. He said, he would touch-up the paint on 10 small spots on our rain gutters. He talked several times about doing it and when - he never did it. This issue was not such a "big deal" by itself, and not in our contract, but it did expose his dishonesty and made us wonder if there were other things he may have also been dishonest about in replacing the roof, having phony reviews, etc. Our contract said he was to replace the drip edge. He did, but also decided, by himself, to change the color - without our approval. Who could ever think that was a good idea? Our past drip edge color matched our fascia, rain gutter, wainscoting and house. We liked it and had never even considered changing it. But he did!!! When new shingles were being put on the house we noticed the drip edge color was off- white, instead of beige, and did not match anything - ours had matched everything. We very much had liked it that way. It now looked like a big mistake. I asked him why he had done this. He said his supplier only had 2 colors of drip edge and he did not have time to call other suppliers to find the matching one. So, he chose what he thought was the best one of the two. He actually did something this consequential that was not in our contract nor had our approval. We then expected any responsible contractor would be willing to help resolve an issue he created - and actually a responsible contractor probably would, but that was not him. Changing the drip edge after the new shingles were partly on did not seem very practical, so I suggested to him what seemed to be a reasonable solution - he could spray paint the new drip edge the same color as the prior one. He refused, and offered no other solution, leaving it for us to resolve. When dealing with a contractor, everyone has heard many times to put everything in writing and don't pay the final settlement until everything is right. My experience with J. Roofing definitely confirms that, and suggests to not only include what is to be done but also add what is not to be done. Or, just go with someone else. NOTE: A few days before submitting this review I sent a draft of it to Jose as a courtesy to him. I also told him to let me know if there was anything still undone that he would like to do before I sent this and, when completed, I would be happy to revise it. I never heard from him.
