All of which is to be expected in a handyman. But here's where he earned five stars and then some. We had a plumber over at the same time to replace a toilet. Would have cost us upwards of $500 all in, and we were only replacing it on the plumber's recommendation. Fortunately Russ was there, and while he was a professional and didn't step on the other guys toes, I noticed he seemed like he wanted to say something. So after talking to him, I learned that a toilet replacement is not at all difficult, and nor is a rebuild, and he would be happy to do either for just his hourly rate. So we replaced the toilet for less than half the price the plumber wanted. Honest, hard-working, and dependable, and above all with our interests in mind.

In 25 years of homeownership - this is the worst contractor experience we've had by far. After 8…read moremonths, our home is sitting unfinished with several major issues. We have had other contractors come look at Utah Valley Handyman's work to figure out what it's going to take to fix the mess and they have said most of it will need to be redone. Here is a list of the issues so you can see what we're dealing with when considering using this company: 1. Faulty siding installation on the entire back of our house. The seams are all lined up instead of staggered. 2. Faulty installation of dryer vents on back of house which caused ice and water damage behind the siding. 3. Poor finish work on window frames - putty used to fill cracks instead of caulk. 4. Wrong product used on the exterior of house (entryway and garage door frames). MDF boards used instead of exterior materials. Completely warped in a short period of time and will all have to be torn off and replaced. 5. Gutters not installed properly. mismatched hardware and not painted. 6. Paid to hang lights on porch that never got installed. Haven't had porch lighting for 6 months. 7. Painted our entire house but they didn't keep track of where they had painted so some spots still need 1 - 2 more coats. You get the point. This company and crew were in over their head and instead of admitting that they didn't know how to do something and taking ownership of the issues - they decided to tell us they were done when we tried to address the mess. We are moving forward with state/license inspectors and an attorney to recoup all labor and material costs which is a massive hassle. It will cost us even more on the second round (with the right contractor) because we'll have to pay to have them remove all of the faulty materials and installation. Very unfortunate situation. I have taken the time to write this review because I don't want anyone else to experience this with their home.
