I came into this project having been burned by a competitor so I was a bit cynical. This is something I didn't even think to do! Even without the insurance payout, their quote was about half the cost of the other company. Once it came time to do the work, I was in constant communication with the foreman. The guys tore off the old roof in a day and put up the new in a second day. The following morning the dumpster was gone. Again, by starting an insurance claim they put money in my pocket before they even knew if I would be a customer! I'm generally nervous about home renovations because I'm pretty dumb when it comes to this sort of thing. I believe the competitor tried to take advantage of my ignorance. Where the issue lies is in their follow-on response to warranty issues. Three units in our community have had shingles blow out, leaving holes in the roofing spaces. These issues were reported in August and the first week of September. Owners and Property Managers have made numerous calls for repairs, and Mike and his team tell story after story. They make promises about being out for repairs and telling the Property Managers that the repairs have been completed, but no work has been done.
