The food as always was delicious, which is what earned it one star. But if I could give zero stars specifically for service, I would. My husband and I came into town from Austin, and while we've never had a problem at the original Chuy's, the service here was appalling. Levi barely paid attention to our table, except for to point at us from the hostess stand and whisper. He would walk to our table, hand us something, and run off before we could ask for any additional items (i.e. chips, water, drink refills..) As we were ordering, he just stared at us and made little attempt to give even half decent service (prompting the next person when it was their turn, ask for specifics about order etc.) This made what was supposed to be a nice dinner with a friend really uncomfortable and unwelcoming as Levi couldn't be bothered to put a little effort into adjusting his attitude and being just a skosh more pleasant. read more

Chuy's!!! This is good Tex mex food but not the place to go if you are wanting a quiet romantic dinner. It is very loud inside with a lot of children! The decor is also loud with a bunch of bright colors and a lot going on. I had the chicken tortilla soup and it tasted homemade and fresh. Came to this place for happy hour, and it is MUY delicioso! During Chuy's happy hour, they have amazing drink prices, and also have a free chips & queso bar throughout happy hour! I mean, come on... how can you turn down chips & $5 margaritas?! I didn't have a chance to order any of the other food, but everyone's plates looked delicious! On top of all of that, the vibe is very bright, lively, and vibrant. We had such a great experience here that I've gone twice in 2 weeks. No wait to be seated. Our server Jack (First visit, think that was his name) was so helpful. He brought us out a rainbow plate full of all their sauces. It helped us figure out what was the best sauce for each of our tastebuds. I was originally going to order something that turned out to be too spicy for me, so it really helped me. I ended up ordering a combo #4 pick my own enchilada and Chile relleno. Delicious. Also ordered margarita with the corona in it. I used to get these all the time in San Diego and loved it. My fellow diners loved the strawberry monito and pina colada. Best Tex Mex food!!!!!! I seriously love this place and am so happy they came to Colorado finally a few years ago. Their Happy Hour is the best. Can somebody say nacho bar?! Drinks are great. I recommend the New Mexican martini. For the food the chicka chicka boom boom enchiladas are my favorite. Get double beans because their beans are amazing. I also love their salad if I'm trying to get more veggies, chuychanga if I'm STARVING, fajitas if I don't mind splurging, and you must always get the creamy jalapeño dip. I don't go to chain restaurants, hardly ever. When Chuy's opened up the lines out the door wouldn't stop so it sparked my interest. My husband and I decided to check it out on a Thursday night and there was a bit of a wait. Not a problem, it was happy hour and on top of the great marg and beer specials there's a salsa bar if you are interested. The decor in Chuys is fun, there's these colorful flying fish, an upstairs and downstairs, as well as an outdoor patio. Menu is pretty large, I wish they offered a skinny margarita! I ordered the mahi fish tacos and they were actually delicious. Very fresh fish, prepared well..not overly seasoned or anything. My husband got the carnitas enchiladas which he enjoyed. First off let me say Tex-Mex is not really my thing. I'm kinda biased on this review so take that into account. We tried Chuy's because my brother in law lives in Austin and recommended we try it. The foods not bad its just not my cup of tea. I would say it's a solid 3.5 stars for me. Chuy's redeeming quality is its free happy hour nacho bar. The wait staff in the bar area are very attentive and great. The drinks are delicious but can be a little pricey if you don't get them during happy hour. My recommendation is skip the food and try the bar for happy hour drinks and free nacho bar. read more

Oh man, how I love Chuy's! Growing up with it in Texas, I really missed it out here and am so glad they've opened up a location nearby. I've been down to the one downtown, but it's honestly not as good in terms of service and layout. We love going for their happy hour, which is Monday through Friday from 4pm to 7pm, where you can get some deals On my way their delicious margs, as well as free chips, salsa, queso, beef, and beans at their nacho bar. My husband loves their frozen house marg, but I really enjoy the New Mexican Martini. Our usual visit involves going during this magical time during the week, but this time, we went on a weekend to take advantage of their National Margarita Day deals. We ordered the jalepeno cream sauce to go with our chips and salsa, an absolute MUST. And we ordered some queso and split the steak fajitas for one (with extra Mexican rice and homemade flour tortillas, of course). It's so delicious and such a great meal for two to split. We visited on Christmas Eve. We had some guacamole with the chips. It was tasty, but we were surprised to find shredded lettuce in it. My tortilla soup had plenty of chicken, veggies and tortilla chips, but none of the spicy flavor that is usual at other restaurants. The last thing was a nacho platter. Instead of corn chips, they used half tortillas fried or baked crisp, spread with refried beans and smothered with cheese. The serving was copious, but again lacking in savor. Some meat and salsa would have perked it up. So I would prefer Mexican food with a bit more zip and flavor, especially given today's prices to eat out. read more

I am so thankful to have Chuy's in the area. Having moved here from Texas, we miss TexMex! We ate for many years at the flagship Chuy's on Barton Springs in Austin, and also at an early addition at Knox Henderson in Dallas. Plus others around the state. The Warrenville location does a great job. The food is consistent with Chuy's anywhere, and the staff is great. Since I decided what I love most at Chuy's twenty five years ago, I get the same thing every time. For me it's a Texas Martini followed by chile rellenos - I think the best anywhere. I get one chicken, one cheese, with green chile sauce and the normal sides. If you haven't had rellenos at Chuy's, you should try them. They use Anaheim/New Mexico chiles rather than the larger Poblanos, and the crust is crunchy, not soggy as with traditional Mexican rellenos. My wife varies her order every time and is always happy too. read more

We go to Chuy's all the time and usually have a wonderful experience. With that being said, today when my husband ordered what he has every single time (the Elvis Presley menu item with a substitution of a soft tacos instead of chips and queso) the waiter said he would ask his GM if that was allowed. We said no worries but they usually do it no problem. He came back and informed us they couldn't do it. Not that it would be an additional charge or anything, just they could not do it. My husband then changed his order to just soft tacos which is only two dollars less. It was way less food, and presentation was very thrown together. Service wasn't bad, but not super friendly either. I can't remember her name, but the waitress with the glasses who doesn't write orders down is phenomenal and we were sad we didn't have her as our waitress this time. We lived in ATX for quite some time and always loved going to Chuys for Tex mex. Since we were feeling a little home sick, my friend bought me a gift card in ATX and sent it to me here in CO since there was a also a CHUYS here! The food was amazing and definitely still keeps its reputation. The green Chile is definitely HOT. Had to drink water while eating our food but it was so tasty we killed it all in one sitting. I came here for the FREE nacho bar happy hour, only to find out there is no "happy hour". I ordered my usual rum & Coke and asked about drink specials. The only drink specials were margaritas. Not hand made mind you, but the kind that come out of a machine. Now I don't mind paying top dollar for anything but just be up front about it. Trust me when I say they have it figured out. Pay full price for an alcoholic beverage and give you a free nacho bar. Hmm. I wouldn't have ever figured out that it's a trade up so it's not actually free. LOL.. Rolled with the chicken enchilada and shrimp relleno combo, topped with boom boom sauce and deluxe green chili or something along those lines. The boom boom sauce was indeed boom boom, and on the spicier side, while the green chili sauce has a great balance to the shrimp chili relleno. The place embraces the cheesiness of fake trees and Elvis, and I can't help but embrace the food. A dining disaster. We were happy we were seated sooner then we were told We also had nachos bar from happy hour to nibble on. We had frozen strawberry and pomegranate margies...they were good. We also had good guacamole. The chips are thin use a fork on the sauces. Then our experience went south. Our meal took an hour to get to us. Three tables seated after us got their meals, checks and left. A manager came over and apologized but it was too late our meals were ruined. The dishes came but we had lost our appetites. The waitress who was in error brought us dessert but we turned it away. Another waitress came out to another table and said oh these were mistakes and they got them. Very run-of-the-mill bland Tex Mex. Went in for lunch on a Friday. Had the #1 combo so I could try a good variety. The service was fine. The portions were good size. The food was entirely over salted but and the sauces I had were not that memorable. Happy I tried it as I was curious. But nothing that I experienced here makes me want to return again. If you don't make your own freshly fried chips and fresh hot sauce (which is salsa to everyone outside of Texas), don't even talk to me about Tex-Mex. And don't get me started on store bought tortillas and bad queso! So when we heard about Chuy's, we were pretty skeptical. We aren't from Austin, so we hadn't eaten there before. Some friends from Austin gave it a thumbs up, so we went down with them for dinner. We had to wait, but it wasn't bad at all for a Friday evening. The hot sauce was a bit more pico-ish than I expected with fresh tomatoes instead of canned, but the lime juice won me over. We also ordered queso and tortillas to start our meal. The fresh tortillas were heavenly. Just floury enough and so soft--perfect for dipping in the queso. I had the enchilada and chile relleno combo plate. The enchilada had a bit too much chicken and not enough cheese for my tastes, but I'm not even mad because that relleno was so damn good! Finally!! The breaking was crispy and the ranchero sauce was perfect. Everyone else at the table was happy with their assorted big as yo face burritos and enchiladas, and we all agreed that the fresh tortillas and queso were the highlights of the meal. Chips and (vegetarian) Chile Rellenos: that's my yardstick. The chips here, while abundant, were poor: many had been clumped together before going in the fryer so they were literally raw + chewy, no pun. The chile rellenos was FANTASTIC, nearly the best I've ever had. They were still crispy with the sauces surrounding them, not smothering them (I know that's common but that's not how I like it). The chile itself hadn't been roasted to death: it, too, had some crunch, was very fresh + bright tasting. The vegan refried beans + rice were delicious, creamy, flavorful. My husband ate their version of a chimichanga and liked that it was both smaller and less greasy than many he's had elsewhere. Will definitely return for the rellenos. read more

We then waited approximately on 45 minutes for our food to arrive. The waitress finally checked on us as we were still waiting on our order. Chuy's is an icon in Austin. After living in Austin for 11 years and moving to Denver, we had to swing by the new Denver location. The creamy jalapeno ranch is really good, you can ask for it with your chips. Highly recommended we downed three bowls :) Their chips are light and crisp, salsa is hot, maybe a bit limey for some. The Boom Boom sauce is creamy and spicy and goes great with the Enchiladas. Their chili rellenos are solid, not too much batter. The Mexican Martini is a must, they call them Texas Martini's outside Texas, go figure. It's like a strong margarita, with jalapeno olives, served in a martini glass with extra in a shaker. Don't be put off by the olives, they really go well with the flavors. Chuy's is original Tex-Mex, it's really nice to have a Mountain view on their patio. Unlike Austin where temps can hover over 100 degrees, this Denver location has me sipping on a Mexican Martini, while enjoying some good Tex-Mex while missing very few things from Texas. read more
