Its like taco bell food put on a plate and marked up in price. You wouldn't be missing much if you skipped over Chuy's. We started out by being told we would be waiting 30-45 minutes but the actual wait time was about an hour and a half, no big deal for me but for a lot of people that alone might have warranted a walk out. When we finally got seated we got our drinks, ordered our food and it arrived in a reasonable time. The food wasn't all that great, compared to the hype generated for this place. The food here is pretty good if you can keep the flys away long enough to eat. We sat in a booth in the bar area, mistake. Service sucks on this side. Our server had to have been stoned. We asked for water several times, to go boxes. He sat with customers ( ladies) every chance he got. Who does that? Your working, not hanging out visiting. My husband and I meet once a week for lunch. We decided on Chuy's and had not been to the waco location at all , but dined at one in another city. It had been several years since we ate at Chuy's. My complaint is this, for our lunch which was two of the cheapest dinner we could find, small cheese dip, and two drinks ended up being $29.00. This did not include a tip. That is totally outrageous, and the food was that great for the price. I am sorry, but that is too expensive! The chips were not only cold, but very greasy. Until today, this was one of our favorite restaurants to visit when family comes into town. After today's experience, I likely won't be back. In the 15 minutes of waiting in the lobby, the manager on duty berated an employee within hearing range of customers then became visibly frustrated when a customer asked how long the wait for a table would be. I would normally blame timing for the stress, but this event was after the lunch rush and there was only a handful of cars in the parking lot. read more

Like all Chuys restaurants, this one serves great tasting food. I LOVE the ponchos! Also, the fajita plate is an excellent choice. Not organic or super healthy. That's the only reason I don't give them 5 stars. Service is usually professional as long as you don't have D-Ray. He was a serious disappointment. Brought us all unsweet tea when some of us ordered sweet and others ordered half and half. He was generally slow and inconsiderate with the whole order. They have an awesome happy hour during the week from 4-7! Their salsa is the best! Different consistency than any other Mexican food place here, chunky but enough liquid, and the flavor is wonderful. The queso is also soo good! I go there mainly for those things.. It is always SO crowded, so always be prepared for a long wait, even the bar is packed. Chuy's has good food and a unique setup. I tried their dine service at this location for a 2nd time since it's opened. The food was fine (although small portions), my tea tasted 1/2 & 1/2 although I said sweet. So I changed to a Dr. Pepper and it tasted like the machine needed a change. Ok - stuff happens. Service: Our waitress seemed quite young and newbie-ish. She literally left us (2) hanging to cater to a table of like 8 which was a little bit ok considering all things. However, my order was incorrect in that I asked for no beans on the nachos. Yet, it's covered in beans and could have been the cooks honest mistake or the waitress's honest mistake - fine. She just handled it poorly. All she did was pat me on the back and said so sorry then rushed off. Never to return but once more to drop the bill off. Again, she just said oh sorry and walked off. A manager happens to visit us, who was randomly checking on guests along his pathway. We told him kindly about the food situation only, he took care of it in less than 5 mins. Offered to remove it from our ticket and to cook it again correctly for less than a 10 min wait. We just said it was likely an honest mistake and we were over it already because times are hard esp for a waitress - no need to be fired over it. We didn't get the meal again, just got it taken off the ticket. The manager not only spoke with us but kneeled down to take his time to listen to us without shouting over us in a crowded place on a busy Saturday afternoon. We even tipped the poor waitress girl a few Benjamins and told her it's ok. She still barely had words to say and it seems she wasn't having the best day or times at the moment. We didn't get into it, just didn't want to cause no trouble either. Take away, if an order is incorrect...correct it somehow. read more

The food was very different than the one we've eaten at in San Antonio. I got flautas and they had no flavor at all. Some spice in the queso choked me. Maybe cumin? Weird. Last time I placed a to go order from Chuys Waco they literally forgot half the order yet didn't fail to charge me full price. The order was only for two people and I placed it at about 3 p.m. when they aren't crazy busy, I dont see how it was that complicated... Being from Austin, I am a total Chuys die hard fan and have never had any problems in any of their 512 locations. Last night I went to Chuys Waco again and ordered the Chile Rellenos platter and my relleno wasn't stuffed with anything. I didn't say anything to the wait staff being as they were very busy but then I come to check my account this morning and they definitely over charged me. Chuys has some pretty good food. I like their salsa and everytime I have been there the food has been good. The iced tea is not good...the service is fair, but seems to be kind of a rude place with some of the people...I have had some great to okay servers there, but most of the time the servers are a little rude and that is annoying. The prices are low there so that and the food makes up for a little bit of grumpy service. If you are alone or in a small group and the bar has seats, that is a good place to sit as the service is friendly and prompt at the bar. read more

The food is good if they get your order right. If you tell them to do something complicated like "put the onions on the side," your whole order will be messed up. Seriously. Their salsa is addicting ( which is the only reason I keep coming back) but lately, they have been slacking off on that too. They have a side room with hubcaps on the ceiling. That room gets really loud when the place is crowded. Maybe the metal ceiling amplifies the sound. I don't know. The place was great when it first opened but it has been going downhill ever since. read more
