I've been eating at Chuy's since 1985 (That's IN Austin, TX) but this review is for this one in Waco, I always stick with annual hatch chile pepper festival's menu items that are on menu temporarily. They're always good. I prefer lime cilantro rice over spanish rice, its better. I'm not crazy about any red sauce they serve, I always go with chicken enchiladas with any of their three green sauces, usually the deluxe one. It's very good. I dont order anything else. read more

Chuys is one of my favorite places to eat...but this location is sub par...the food was so salty I had to send it back only to have round 2 be equally as bad. My husband and my daughter had similar issues with their meals. I would not recommend this location to anyone and we will not be stopping here again...however....i will be going to another location that cares about the quality of the food they serve. read more

But they consistently provide quality food and good service, and I CANNOT GET ENOUGH of the creamy jalapeño salsa. I go at least once a month, and you should too (here or any other location). After church on Sunday's I always go out for lunch. I like to try different places every week, but recently I have found my self craving Tex-Mex so when I heard about Chuy's I knew I had to try it. From the outside Chuy's looks like any other Mexican restaurant: different types of cactus, yellow adobe walls, and benches for people to sit and wait. The interior gives off a completely different feel. It has a nice mix of a fifties dinner feel while still maintaining the Mexican traditional decor. The walls are covered in bright red, blue and yellow paint and decorated with different themes on each. One wall has a collage of tire rims while another has antique Mexican dolls and movie posters. Chuy's is great for friends to hang out, and families to have a relaxing meal. Chuy's is a great Mexican restaurant because it has steaming hot food with many choices on the menu, and affordable for a college student on a budget with friendly staff. The food at Chuy's is always amazing. The menu has a great selection of items from hand made enchiladas to different kinds of tacos and fajitas. My personal favorite is the Chicka-Chicka Boom Boom; it is an enchilada with spicy green chili sauce packed with chicken, served with rice and beans. The giant plate of food is always hot to where the steam rolls off the plate as they bring it to the table. The ratio of the quantity of the food is defiantly worth the price. The meals at Chuy's range from seven dollars to about fourteen depending on what you order. I usually spend around twelve dollars and always have enough for leftovers. Other restaurants like La Fiesta Restaurant and Cantina charge around ten two twenty dollars a plate which is a little more of an expense for a college student. After being around serious professors and students all day it is nice to take a break. The people there are really laid back and ready to serve. Usually when I go to a restaurant, I have to fight with the waiters for a new basket of chips. At Chuy's my glass is never empty, there are always hot chips on my table and they take care of any special orders I have concerning my preferences for food. They always have a smile on their face and sometimes they throw a few jokes around to lighten the mood. Chuy's is a great restaurant if you are in the mood for great Mexican food on a budget, or to be surrounded by friendly people. read more

I have been sitting in the bar area for over 25 minutes. It took this long to get our table wiped off and our waitress completely ignored us until we grabbed the bartender to tell her to help us. The best part about this place is the jalapeño ranch salsa. The food is decent and the service is okay, but if your going to eat here you will definitely have to wait I've never seen the place slow before. Also, they make the most of their space so if you get claustrophobic choose somewhere else or ask to eat outside under their covered outdoor eating area. read more

Just went to this Chuy's, granted they were busy, I ordered fajitas that weren't even sizzling when I received them, the water glasses were dirty and our waitress, Christian, waited until we were out of chips to even bring any after I had to ask for them and waited until our food came out to see if we wanted refills on our margaritas which we ordered with salt that didn't get put on them. Also there were flies everywhere in the back section. I've been to this Chuy's before and had excellent service so this was very disappointing. read more

I was spoiled for 2 years by living close to the Chuy's in south Austin. When I moved to Waco, the first place I ate at was this Chuy's. I was very disappointed, I personally feel like this Chuy's dampers on the overall great Chuy's reputation. The service is.. well it's service, nothing special. I can count the number of times I've been back to this one, and the service is always the same. Takes a good 10 minutes for the server to greet and take drink orders, the servers rarely come back to check on you, and when the server gives you your ticket you better have your card ready cause you'll waste another 20 minutes waiting for the server to reappear. The food at this location is very low quality in terms of taste and texture. Like I mentioned this Chuy's does not accurately display the Austin's Chuy's high standards. We love Chuy's. Jalapeño ranch dip is awesome and the chips are light. My go to plate is Elvis Green Chile Fried Chicken.

The food was amazing and the service was great. However, it was very loud and a little cramped. We look forward to our next visit!

This was my favorite resturant when they came to town. However after a long hiatus i went back got food poisioning from the Baja tacos which are my fave. Had to go to the ER it was so bad. So I waited for a while before going back this time ordered the chuychenga, it was delicious as always, but no lie food poisioning again although not as bad as the first time my husband who was with me also got sick. Yuck,yuck, yuck. We went there for my sons birthday and holy cow it was gross. Our waitress was a bitch, told me about the specials, and when I ordered one, they were out of it! I ended up ordering a sub-par taco with taco bell meat. The Quezon was broken (foodies will know what I mean) and nothing was cleared from our table. At the end of our "meal" we had 10 glasses, 5 plates, and 5 appetizer plates.
