Just wanted to leave a review on the server we just had. The service tonight was extremely slow but it wasn't the server it was the kitchen. It took 35 minutes for our food to come out and it was an entree, a soup and a side of fajita meat. It shouldn't have been that long. Then the spoon that came out with the soup was 2 spoons stuck together but my server Jen was great and still made it a pleasant experience. With that being said we still left with a smile on our face. It's not always about the time it took etc. but when the server is pleasant I can look past the other things. Love this place most of the time! However lately it's getting bad. Drinks came when the food did, Sat outside because the inside was freezing only to have fans blowing on me like a tornado. Let's not leave out the fact that I ordered a chuychanga with chicken and there was no chicken...... (Now usually I would have said something but being that we had waited for food at our table already for an hour, I couldn't imagine waiting for them to fix it). Fixing things was not on the agenda for the manager that night though, told him about the fans and he just smiled and said sorry, another coupled mentioned it to a bus boy and boom!!!! We were so disappointed and embarrassed. We have been loyal Chuy's customers for 8 years. When other restaurants moved in we kept going to Chuy's. I know it is hard to find good help but this Chuy's is going down fast. Two visits ago I spoke to the manager about the server and bus boys reeking of marijuana. He said "well that is unacceptable" did not ask who, when, where, or anything else. We went this past Saturday with some friends from out of town. We told them Chuy's is a fun place and the food is good. We went on a Saturday and only had to wait 20 minutes for a table of six. That was the high light of the night. The server came and took our drink orders but said they did not have glasses so it will talk a while. We did get our drinks after about 10 minutes. We placed appetizer and soup orders. The appetizers came out and we asked for plates and silverware. 10 minutes later nothing. I stopped a girl who was running around doing everything and she got us our silverware. By then the appetizers were cold. We asked that the soup be brought out with the appetizers. NO soup. The server took our order. 30 minutes later we received our food it was all cold and the soup also came out at that time cold. We were disappointed and embarrassed because we built Chuy's up as a good place. We are no longer customers. Our employees are instructed to no longer bring clients to Chuy's. read more

Chuy's is my favorite Tex-Mex restaurant in the Woodlands area! Yum. Very vegetarian friendly. My favorite dish is the Veggie combo (veggie enchilada and cheese chile rellenos) with deluxe tomatillo sauce on both. Don't go on the weekends. Week day nights are fine. Drinks aren't that great. The bartender said he didn't know how to make a mojito. Easy take out. Often get a free ice tea. read more

First time was not a good experience. Even though the chips and pico de gallo were good, the main dishes were a disaster!. Gooey, not done batter on chili rellenos made them inedible. The anaheim peppers they were made with were not done and nearly raw. The chicken enchilada would have been adequate if it were'nt for the fact they were cold and the sauce bitter. The portions on the rice and refried beans were very small. The only real treat were the hand-made tortillas which nearly saved the day. Normally, I adore this place. Their curbside pickup is usually super convenient, but not today! I called at 6:03p to place my order (panchos, beef fajitas and a #4 combo) and was told it would be 20-25 minutes. My husband was going to pick it up so I gave them his name and number and hung up. He texted me at 6:53p to let me know there was some issue and our order was still not ready. Apparently he called several times and he kept getting brushed off by the staff and told he'd have to talk to the manager, then they would put him on hold and eventually disconnect him. If he hadn't had one of our daughters with him who was ensconced in her car seat he might have gone in, but the whole point of curbside service is, you know, curbside service. Finally, he talks to a manager and he was told "The kitchen is just super busy tonight!" He also told him that people were being told the wait was 40-45 minutes. I told him to just leave (and if it had been me I would not have waited nearly as long, I am NOT that patient!) and then, just as he was getting ready to go they finally showed up! At around 7:20p, over an hour after I had placed the order. Definitely NOT within even the 40-45 minute time frame. No apologies from management, only lame and unprofessional excuses, and it appears as though we'll be trying another location next time. Now to the food. If it had been its usual delicious self all would have been a lot better. As it is, the food was stone cold (and seriously, for that long of a wait? Was it just sitting somewhere and they couldn't find it?) and my chuy's special enchilada had tough, dry chicken. I had to add loads of sauce. The panchos were okay. My husband's fajitas were a tad burned. Not a great way to make up for the extended wait. I had also ordered an extra four ounces of the jalapeño ranch sauce and we didn't receive it - which I guess is fine because the sauce was a little off today. But still - the whole experience was not a happy one for me or my fam and I just didn't appreciate the crappy service. read more

Chuys is great Mexican food, it's up there on the list with Lupe Tortillia. Chuy's food is a bit on the spicy side, which is just my style. My favorite dish is the "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" read more

Let me just say that I moved to the area from Michigan and I now know that I've never had good Mexican food until now. Their food is so fresh and delicious! I get the Chuychanga with just a drizzle of the jalapeno dipping sauce on it, and it's so good... I usually won't touch refried beans but theirs are delicious! Great bartenders, friendly staff, and the funny t-shirts the waitstaff wears!! I love sitting on the patio. read more

We usually love Chuys but today we sat at the bar for 20 min waiting for a table no one even acknowledged my husband and i. They were chatting and kind of busy but never even said they would be with us shortly. Terrible service. When we were sat our waiter was very nice but we were at the restaurant a total of 42 minutes before we got drinks and longer for food. When I talked to the manager he was polite but didn't offer to comp anything or anything to make us feel a little better about the situation. Jalapeno ranch dip love the stuff.. Wait wasn't crazy long and the food was great. Been here a few times never have been let down.

My wife and I came here for the first time because of the rating. We ordered the Panetta's for 2, wow, what a disappointment. The plate looked like it was for one, but we did not say a word and ate. We did still give the server a good tip $10.00 bringing the total to $37,00. What made things worse she had to kill 2 flies at the window where we were setting. read more

This place is so great! The food is always yummy and the prices are reasonable. I love the house frozen margaritas. They have lime, strawberry and sometimes mango flavor. We've eaten here with large groups of friends and the fun, colorful atmosphere is a hit with kids and teens. Good was very good but the service was horrible. Had to continually ask for napkins, plates and silverware.

Food was mediocre at best- I had the Chicka-Chicka-Boom-Boom (a chicken enchilada). The chicken inside was over cooked, and the sauce was ok. Sweet Tea was good. Service was BRUTAL. The worst. Despite asking for silverware 2 times to our server, he still forgot. Once we got our food, he still hadn't brought us any, and we asked him for the third time and he said "oh yeah, sorry". Finally I found a bus boy to bring us some, and he did within a minute. About 7 minutes later, our served decided to check in with some cutlery. Thanks dude. After we finished the meal, our server took our plates and walked back to the kitchen. It then took him 10mins to come back and ask us if we wanted dessert, which we obviously declined and asked for the bill. 15 minutes later, he returned with a bill. Then he took forever to ring the card in and after a totaled 25 minute process to pay (yes, we timed him) we were able to get the heck outta that place. The worst part of the whole story is that he had 4 tables and the restaurant was not busy. I think it's pretty clear why I won't be returning to this disappointing Austin chain. read more

I have been eating at this Chuy's location for over fifteen years and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. Then I went to the restaurant on Thursday afternoon for lunch and I saw something quite disturbing. There is a glassed in area where they make the tortillas in this particular restaurant and there was a girl working there and not only did she not wear gloves to make and pack the tortillas - she had long, blue, curled fingernails that were about 11/2 inches long and she was picking up the tortillas with them. Then another waiter was sweating and he wiped his face with his hands while he was at the computer where they input orders and a little while later he was in the tortilla prep area and he was making tortillas with his bare hands as well. Then unfortunately - the least offensive of all was another waiter in the the same are simply preparing the tortillas - again with bare hands. I assume the health department would require someone in the food industry to either wear gloves or use some kind of protective gear when preparing food like this. So I decided to at least inform the manager who did not seem all that concerned with this. He said "they are supposed to use wax paper" and he said he would tell the girl using her nails to pick up the tortillas to use the paper. His nonchalance makes me question his concern but maybe they will take care of the problem. In this time in society - with the concern with the Coronavirus and other transmittable diseases and illness - I think they should be a little more cautious and concerned. But wearing gloves or using protective gear is a basic and easy precaution to take. I hope they remedy this issue because they have always had amazing food and great service. And on a more positive note - our waiter Kevin was wonderful. read more

All round terrible food. I had tacos alcarbon and I could not tell any difference between the beef and the chicken. No flavor. Dry as a bone and two thin slices of meat in each taco. Wife had fajitas and a bit better but still very dry and not sizzling at all. Rice and beans were actually cold. My theory is all of this food was prepared previously and warmed up when we ordered. If I could give zero stars I would. A huge roach crawled along side my table and proceeded up the wall inches from my plate. Ask the manager to remove it which they shrugged it off and left the roach chilling on the wall for the whole restaurant to see. We love the creamy jalapeno chip sauce. You have to ask for it. It's like a spicy ranch dip. The place is very fun to go to and the food is always good. They do have a problem with cars being broken into in their parking lot. They are one of the few places along I-45 in the area that I have never seen a security guard or off duty officer. We still go there, but we try and park as close as possible to the building. read more

My wife and I dropped in yesterday for a late lunch. Was surprised at how many families were there dining. Had a fantastic lunch. Service was top notch and the food was extremely good, flavors were just spot on. I loved the fact that everything was very fresh. They had a white sauce we used with the fresh chips that was just fantastic, hope they sell it on the side. Can not wait to go back. Just hope its consistently good!!! Just not that good! I have been to the chuy's near downtown several times and liked it ok, but that was a few years back. Since then I have had the pleasure of some awesome TexMex restaurants and Chuy's no longer compares. It doesn't help either that The Woodlands location is not that good and not that nice. And what's with all the friggen sauce choices? I don't like spending lengthy amounts of time reading paragraphs on the flavors of 6-8 different sauce options for my dish. I'm not the TexMex expert so pair the perfect sauce and let me enjoy. Their salsa was so so and the creamy sauce just taste like flavored ranch. Tortilla chips and flavored ranch does not make me go yum. Come on Texas lets try and live down the ranch obsession a little bit. Entire US already thinks we out it on everything- do we really need it in our Mexican food? I've made better queso with velvetta and breakfast sausage and their staff needs major attitude adjustments. Being that we live in Texas, just skip Chuy's and drive 2 more minutes to the next Mexican food restaurant, there is one on every corner. read more

I went to Chuys with my family last weekend and ordered a beer when the waiter took our order. I am a 50yr old man who is balding and was asked for ID. I understand that some establishments ID everyone but these guys would not except my Canadian Driver License. They wanted my passport. They then went on to tell me it would be illegal to serve me. They have absolutely no clue what they are talking about but it's a private establishment so I respect their right not to serve me and they need to respect my right never to go back. read more

We have been to just about every Chuy's and ordinarily love the food and the service is typically great. This one not so much. The food is still good, but the service is terrible. The manager is too quick to comp meals and should be focused on fixing the problem for long term results. I would really like to see this place come around and join the ranks of the other Chuy's restaurants around the state especially the Tyler, Tx restaurant. read more

As per usual, the food was outstanding! However, our party of five adults and 2 kids had to wait 45 minutes to an hour and talk to the manager twice to get seated. In their defense, they were very busy. The restaurant was also unusually & uncomfortably warm, but we all agreed this could be due to the crowded conditions and the fact that the front door was open more than closed The manager offered to buy the first round of drinks to make up for the long wait to be seated, but only two of us were drinking alcohol. After being seated, we were given chips and salsa right away, but after an inordinately long wait, I had to go get our waiter, Beaux, to get the 2 bloody marys, water, and one sweet tea. The food came quickly, but our request for ranch dip for one of the kids finally ended up with me going to the manager AGAIN, and then we were served some nasty mix Ranch and honey mustard, so I had to take THAT back! We were never given water refills without having to ask, had to request extra napkins (which a thoughtful waiter would have known to provide with two small kids at the table); then to add insult to injury, I was charged for my 2nd Bloody Mary, which I was assuming to also be free because of the ongoing service issues. It doesn't matter how outstanding the food is - if the service is this bad, even loyal patrons are left with a nasty taste in their mouths!!! read more

I just do not get it. This place advertises burritos as big as your head and then they deliver a burrito that is flat and listless. The chips were good. Guacamole was decent and the salsas were good. Service for takeout was frustrating as the lady on the other end of the line became arguementative when we were trying to clarify the difference between steak and beef which could have been ground beef. We just wanted steak but we gambled on the beef being steak which it was. The problem was the burrito the size of your head had about 2 ounces of steak and the rest was loaded with beans. It was like the burrito deflated leaving a flat sandwich type shape. The tortilla was this weird sponge like mouth feel and the beans were decent. Miss customer service refused to put sour cream on the burritos and then informed us that we could not substitute beans for rice. Yup when you spend your money here you get what they tell you to eat. Very lame. Coming from Chicago there were multitudes of burrito and taco joints that would blow this place away. Yet another Woodlands restaurant that does not have a clue but what the heck people keep paying money for average fare. read more

I typically stay away from Tex mex and after visiting this location I will continue to do so. The margaritas were pathetic and took 15 minutes for our first round . Luckily our second round was much quicker to come out but I skipped the margs and opted for a beer instead. Service was slow and though it was during their dinner rush I was disgusted by their lack of cleanliness throughout the restaurant , especially the bathrooms. read more

Not only did we have terrible customer service, with our server bringing our dinner but then telling us they were out of silverware so got to watch our food get cold while we waited 6-8 minutes for it, but the food was awful. Chicken in tacos dry, very little flavor, and only one hot sauce option. The best thing we had was the boom boom sauce which made the tacos decent. This was my 2nd poor experience at Chuys. My wife and I ordered the Fajitas for two. The portion has been significantly cut back. inquired about it with the waitress, and she even admitted that she'd noticed the portion sizes shrinking. Very disappointed with our experience tonight. This is normally a favorite place. Tonight, service was slow, we had to ask for silverware and didn't have any when food was served. Finally got some after I got up to search our waiter out. My chicken chalupa and taco were soggy and luke warm at best. My husband's cheese enchiladas were good but rice tasted burned. I went a while back to this chuys. First time experience too! I love tex-mex food I grew up on it! However, my husband and I were having a date night, no kids, we both ordered our plate (I don't remember what it was, it's been awhile) the food was disgusting, no flavor, everything taste bland, not even the main entree had a taste, everything tasted the same, the rice and beans and whatever the entree was all bad! Worst meal I've ever had! Every time I pass by that place I wonder if my meal was done by amateurs or was the cook having a bad day bec I always see the parking lot full.
