Hands down one of the best Mexican spots in the Woodlands/Magnolia area. The food is consistently delicious, and the salsa is fantastic! They give thicker chips as well. Be sure to ask for their spicy sauce (but fair warning, it's very spicy). They also have $2 margaritas on Mondays and Tuesdays (frozen or on the rocks), and they're actually a great size. You really can't beat that value and how yummy these margaritas are. The place is always packed,, but service is still fast and attentive. I look forward to going every week! read more

Very good atmosphere and food. The service was quick, and everyone seemed to work together, which was a major plus. The only downside was the TVs, they were small and the picture quality was fuzzy, so I wouldn't recommend it if you're planning to watch a game. Overall, it's a great spot for the food and atmosphere. read more

This was my first time visiting Texas and I was blown away by this restaurant. The food was delicious and full of flavor. We got margaritas and they were delicious and very STRONG. Every guest in this restaurant had a smile on their face and you could tell they were enjoying their time. Our server was very quick despite us having a party of 12. Everything everyone at my table got was delicious ! Highly recommend the cheese and guac as an appetizer. read more

Our new favorite local Mexican restaurant! They also have great sopapillas! The service is great and fast!

This spot is THE fajita go to. Spoiler alert: this review is pretty much dedicated to bomb fajitas! Prior to the rebrand these folks had the best fajita prices in town, not to mention sufficient portions and combo options. Today their prices remain competitive. I truly hope they stay that way, knowing this spot stays packed and the surrounding area is growing. I highly recommend starting with the queso if queso is your thing (it's offered in the fajita special)! They now offer queso blanco and after trying both, I'd suggest sticking to the original (it's richer in flavor). Fajitas poblanos were a treat, but you cannot go wrong with the traditional beef or chicken! Dine in or takeout-get the fajitas! read more

Good food great service nice ambience good prices. Will return to try the rest of their menu.

We called the day before Christmas Eve to see if they would be open. We were told they would be open till eight. Showed up at 7 PM and were told it was slow so they decided to close early. But, that doesn't change the fact that I have a family to feed. Lol. For a neighborhood restaurant that's not how you handle things. If you're gonna close, make it a set time so that we can adjust, but it comes to our holiday. It is a service industry. I have lived in the neighborhood behind it for 25 years. I've been coming here since they opened. Disappointed in them. read more

I ordered here from too good to go. I had chicken and rice and it was good. I ended up ordered a side of fried queso which was magnificent. I also ordered rice and beans and another chicken plate. The chicken was fried and chopped. It was seasoned well. Service was great and I had a ranch water that was tasty. read more

I lived in the Heights for many years with the best Mexican food Houston has to offer. I moved into the area a year ago and I've had a hard time finding good Mexican food in the area. We went as a family the other night because we didn't want to cook or drive and I'm glad we tried Monarca. It will be our go to. The queso was kid and adult approved. We ordered the fajitas with shrimp and it was awesome. The shrimp were large and well cleaned and the fajita was real and tender fajita. The kids split a quesadilla that was also very good. The margarita was also yummy served in an ice cold goblet. Also go home with some churros, they are very very good. The restaurant had great service, full on a Thursday night and is also pretty inside with the monarch butterfly mural on one side of the restaurant. We will be repeat offenders moving forward. If i was being picky, I should have asked if they had a spicier salsa because I needed some spice but I didn't ask. I will next time. Would have gone well on my tacos . read more

I saw that I had an old review from well over 3 years ago that needed an update. The old review was 4 stars but it definitely needed to be updated to 5. We absolutely love this place! The menu is full of delicious choices and you won't be disappointed. I crave it so much that we usually are here at least a couple times a week. And the staff is now like family. We love them all! The service is excellent, they'll quickly accommodate your large group and this is my favorite Mexican restaurant by far!! Everything on the menu is so good it's hard to decide what to pick!! It's definitely a neighborhood favorite because we see the same people and old friends every time we're here! read more

Why 4 stars? Because this is, YET ANOTHER, solid Tex-Max option nearby. --- --- --- I write it every time, but I don't understand how the local economics work that there are 4,000 restaurants exactly like Monarca in Houston. But it's close to the house and had good ratings, so I had to try it. I always go for the fajitas, and these were an enjoyable rendition. When my wife got home with the to-go order, I'll be honest: they did not *look* good. But the taste was much better than the visual. The rice and beans were excellent. The chips and queso were fine. And lastly, we ordered churros for dessert, which were a nice way to finish the meal. There are a couple other spots we liked more than Monarca, so we probably won't rush back, but they delivered an enjoyable cheat day meal. read more

Beautiful atmosphere, great waiters, delicious food. Really left an impression. Great place to meet up for lunch or dinner.

If I could give this place more stars I would! What a great place! The food was amazing! The queso was on point! I also got a margarita flight, which was the best decision! There were like 10 different flavors to choose from, and the waiter was very knowledgeable on the ingredients and options. I was very impressed. I couldn't finish two of them because I personally though they were too sweet, nothing wrong with them at all. But they offered me a regular house one in place of the ones I didn't like, I didn't even ask. That's what I call amazing customer service! The building was BUSY! Even so, it was the most attentive service I've received in a long time! The staff was super nice! We've already made plans to go back this weekend. read more

Consistently good food! I love the street tacos and my family loves to order the family fajita pack to go. It is so affordable for our family of 4, and everything is always hot and fresh by the time we get home. Their tortillas are homemade and so good! We love their chips and queso and their red and green salsas, too! When we do dine in, the service is always so friendly! read more

The food is amazing, the service is excellent! They are very attentive and each time I have been here never once have I had any complaints.

We were on a tight schedule and the service couldn't have been better or friendlier - fast or relaxed pace, they have you covered. Mixed grill fajitas for one were served sizzling, with lots of grilled onions - excellent. The chunky guacamole was delicious. It was hard to stop eating the chips and warm salsa! The flour tortillas were homemade and the corn were perfect thickness. This is a great local spot for Mexican food! Folks seemed to be enjoying the margaritas - next time! read more

Great food and experience. They went above and beyond to accommodate my son's food allergy so he could enjoy chips and queso with the rest of us. Thank you for a wonderful experience. read more

Ordered the beef fajitas enchiladas and mixed chicken/ beef fajitas for 1 with refried and charro beans - no rice via DoorDash. Didnt get the refried beans and still got the rice, whatever, I guess I could have looked past that if the food was actually good...nothing but the chicken was decent, the beef fajitas had no flavor except for a char taste and it was so chewy I spit out my first bite and even tried a different piece to give benefit of the doubt but it was still just not good, the charro beans appeared to have flavor from cilantro and bacon yet tasted no salt, no spice and not even a freshness from the cilantro-it was just super bland as the rice that I didnt order also tasted just blah, the fajita beef enchiladas my husband had were the same, bland, not enough gravy just a major disappointment overall! The salsa had some heat, but again not much flavor and the onions were so chunky cut it was like they puréed the rest of the ingredients and then through them in making it a very strange consistency...like a hot sauce soup with chopped onions, not ideal. I was really hoping to like this place as it's close by but we will definitely not return, $38 for 2 entrees may have been an affordable price on DD (with tip) for great food howevever I felt it was a waste of money for such bland, not tasty and no flavor basic and commonly ordered dishes. read more

I did not think it was that great. Chicken fajitas were covered in paprika, the grilled onions/peppers were covered with the same. The chicken itself was good, it was tender, I'm just not used to that much seasoning. Beef fajitas were okay they did not receive the same paprika treatment. Guacamole was not fresh made, it came from a container. Also it could be just me, but the tortillas seemed like they came from a package and thrown on the grill, a little bit tough. But - the servers were super great, very nice. read more

No more! I got extreme food poisoning last weekend! Quality of food has gone way down! Not worth the vomiting and the squirts!

Great restaurant with really good food and excellent service. The Queso flameado is awesome and they have a great presentation when they flame the dish prior to bringing it to the table. Take yourself over to Monarca Bar & Grill on 1488 in Magnolia. We had a scrumptious lunch today at Monarca. The Camarones Bravos; 6 jumbo shrimp with white cheese and a jalapeño strip wrapped in bacon served on a skillet with grilled onions, tomatoes, peppers & clarified butter for dipping YUM! The Carnitas are seasoned chunks of pork, fork tender with grilled onions & flour tortillas. Both dishes were accompanied with the traditional rice, beans, pica de gallo & guacamole. Their salsa and chips were also very good. The service prompt, friendly & efficient. They got a gold star from us. There are so many Tex-Mex restaurants to choose from up & down Hwy 105 but this one is well worth the extra miles read more

We have been here many times in the past 6 months because it is close by. We've always had terrific service! We've tried many things on the menu. The street tacos are delicious. Our favorite thing so far are the Crema fajitas. So good! We do think that charging for extra tortillas is a little bit much and not comparable to other Mexican restaurants. I've had one order that I got as a carry out that I didn't like as much as some other restaurants. It was the Summer plate. read more
