This is our "treat" place for Mexican - the creamy jalapeno is AWESOME. They make all their food fresh and right there in the store. Nothing is frozen. They also will change up almost anything on the menu if you need them to. Being a vegetarian they always cater to my needs and will give me something new to try if I want. read more

I've eaten at the original Chuy's when I lived in Austin TX and this location is amazing in comparison! Every visit I am impressed and treated like the most special guest dining. My drink is always refilled, chips fresh and hot and my dinner is cooked according to the traditional Tex-Mex way! I had high hopes for chuys in Lexington as I have had a great experience at several of their other locations. Unfortunately I was beyond disappointed and will certainly NOT return. The staff were both slow and curt; however this was not my primary complaint. Our server arrived at out table and completely neglected to take our order while telling a long personal sob story in a clear attempt to solicit tips. Several items in our order were incorrect and we were overcharged. The greatest disappointment was when these issues were brought up to the manager. Instead of attempting to remedy the situation he chose to dodge the situation, resorting to shouting and profanity. We eat here pretty regularly due to convenience. The food is just ok but the drinks are bad. The margarita specials are a joke. You cannot taste any alcohol at all. If you order one outside of happy hour they are better. The chip station for happy hour is good. read more

Came here specifically for happy hour to eat from the free nacho bar and have a couple of margaritas before choosing an entree. Was happy with the nacho bar, not anything fancy, but had chips, cheese, refried beans, ground beef, and salsa. This isn't what I would've normally picked, but for free: it's fine. Margaritas were nothing special, a little on the small side; but guess they have to get their money back on the nachos somewhere. I was highly recommended, by the server, to get the Fried Avocado for dinner. She told me that everyone loves it, and they had gotten rid of it for a while but had to bring it back due to popular demand. Have to say, the filling (shredded chicken, cheese, and maybe some peppers) was tasty. But I rarely got to taste that due to the thickness of the breading. Had to be 1/4" thick; which was thicker than the avocado in most places. I just had to eventually pull the insides out and leave the "shell" of the breading. Not sure if this is typical, but I can tell you I will never be trying that again!!!! So why did I go ahead with the 3-star review, instead of lower? The tastes of the sauces and filling were good; so I assume that is the same for everything else. We love Chuy's! The decor is fun and festive. We've been both when busy and slow and have no complaints about service whatsoever. If you haven't been to Chuy's.. I omit the spicy sauce that it comes with and order it instead with.. You guessed it, creamy jalapeño sauce! The chile rice is a little spicy for me but it was good and not lacking in flavor. Hubby got the #1 combo which was a little of everything. He likes heat and said his plate had different levels of heat on everything. It might have been too much. Nice restaurant, great atmosphere and awesome decor. The food was pretty good, but seemed to lack flavor. I ordered the stacked enchiladas and the green chile sauce was minimal on the plate. My husband ordered one of the spiciest sauces and found it rather mild. I loved the chips because they were thin and salty! The service was quite slow, but the waitress was super friendly. I've been to Chuy's many times and have always had a good experience. Went today with a group and ordered the Wed. Special, a stuffed avocado. It was so spicy I couldn't eat it and the spice ruined my taste buds to eat the rice and beans. Someone else had quesadillas and had the same experience. This place is one of our favorites now. Not only is the food fabulous but their staff is amazing!!! The 3rd time I went there one of the hostesses (I think her name was Stafani??? Been a while now) took my 2 yo and 5yo on a "ghost hunt". She must've spent a good 15 minutes or so entertaining them which was truly appreciated because we were able to nicely spend time with our friends while our kids had a blast!!!! Wow, our meal here was great. I had a veggie enchilada with no cheese, and the sauce that came with it was to-die for. Like excuse me if I don't mind licking the plate while ya'll are looking, good (I think it was ranchero). There was plenty of chips severed before our entrees arrived, with a fresh and quite delicious pico de gallo type salsa, so caution not to pre-fill yourself too much since the portions are hearty. There was a choice of re fried of whole beans (both prepare vegetarian). There was a lot of seating here, a busy place not far outside Fayette Mall proper. I was surprised how much I really did enjoy the food, very friendly service and interesting/entertaining decor... I guess it is a chain of sorts, but everything was really good. My one "beef" is that they couldn't subtract the red peppers for the veggie mix put into the enchilada, as it was prepared.
