Average Mexican chain food with mediocre service.

The food was terrific, but the service was not. Sat at the bar on a weeknight so it wasn't that busy. The server brought the wrong salsa and I didn't get all I ordered be aside they weren't that aware of the menu. The bartender even said they didn't get enough training. Regardless, they should be able to read the menu. One of the other waiters came by and started cussing over something and when I looked over at him he said he was sorry. Very unprofessional and poor service. Next time I'll just get take out because the food is good. read more

Love Chuy's and glad Lafayette finally has one. They make everything fresh and by hand. Their tortillas are the best in town. Some people have complained about the wait, but that's to be expected with Chuy's. Most Chuys have a wait. Also people need to give this location time. It's still new and needs to get revved up so its service matches it's food quality. They just opened the outside seating area to being served food so there still work to be done. This chain is a great addition to Lafayette. read more

Been twice now and very good food at a good value. Different than the normal Mexican food your used to in the area. Offer some unique creative twists on a few things. Love the different sauces and guacamole was excellent. Definitely recommend you give them a try to get a different taste than your average Mexican food. read more

We had lunch on Saturday. Very crowded but no wait for table at 1 pm. We were served salsa & green sauce with salty warm chips. Dips were very good. We ordered & after an hour our orders arrived. My taco salad in crispy fried large shell had lots of lettuce, shredded cheese, grilled chicken & beef ,but had no guacamole, no sour cream & no dressing-dry over all. I told waitress & after 10 minutes finally was served guacamole & sour cream, no dressing. Waitress said" you need more creamy jalapeño dressing -suggesting I used the dip bowl on the table & she never brought any more. We had to ask for more chips 2 times, more salsa 2 times. Waitress said you will be full. If our order wouldn't have taken an hour, we may have not wanted all the chips & salsa. Friends taco salad had 4 ice cubes in lettuce. Waitress asked if we needed to go plates, she never brought them after we requested them. Paying bill(10.50) I place $15 cash in tray. Instead of just bringing change back waitress questions if I want change back or not. Really ?? Overall-salsa was very good. Chips were too salty but warm thin & crispy. Taco salad was good but dry~Nothing spectacular. Service was slow & awful. We won't return. read more

Love their food. Fresh ingredients and the service was great. Always smiling and always making sure customers are taken care of. The chips and salsa are outstanding and the creamy jalapeño ranch dip is good also. I had the stacked chicken enchiladas. Omg it was good. I haven't been disappointed yet. read more

It hasn't taken Chuy's long to become what I consider to be the best Tex-Mex in Lafayette! Cool decor, nice music overhead, energetic waitstaff and fresh, authentic Mexican in my belly. Excellent experience! Benjamin our server was fantastic. Knowledgable and friendly, steered us towards favorites and specials and we took his recommendations. Pork enchiladas (Friday special) and the so-papilla's for dessert (spelled wrong I'm sure lol ) but ask for the whipped cream! Its incredible. Margarita's were good but small even though we ordered large? Since it was our first time here, I can't say for sure we were served the wrong size? Will def be back for other items that looked tasty! Came here for lunch with 15 people..Jen and Stoney were AMAZING! They were so extremely accommodating and made it work so all of us could sit at one big table. They were fun and friendly and gave us all ice cream at the end of lunch! The service was great. Such a good time! read more

We've had Chuy's before in Austin n and loved it, so naturally we couldn't wait until the one in Lafayette opened up. The food was very good just like I remembered from the one in Austin. We had a short wait of about 20 minutes during the lunch rush but was able to go and eat chips and salsa in the bar waiting area. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was our waitress was either new or just wasn't very good at her job. The service was a bit slow from her, but we will be back again! read more

We went right when they opened on a Sunday, so it wasn't crowded. I ordered the Chili Rellono and my wife had the Fajita combo. Both dishes were very good. Service was great. Our server was very attentive and polite. I recommend this place, and will be coming back. read more

Nothing special. Just another chain restaurant with average tex mex food. If you've been to Coyote Blues, you've been to Chuy's. If you're looking for something different. This isn't it. The taste is sufficient. Not terrible. read more

After trying to frequent this restaurant 4 different times, we were finally able to sit through a 25 minute, verses an hour plus, wait in the bar area. The very first thing I noticed was that the wait staff and bussers were quick and diligent in their work. I am often disenchanted with the low level of work ethic found in most businesses today, but not so here! In particular, it was a joy, as a people watcher, to observe one young man bussing tables like a boss. It's this kind of person I would want on the front lines if I owned a customer oriented business. Our server was super pleasant and efficient. The food was fresh, HOT and delicious. I had the Elvis Presley Memorial and was not disappointed. Be ready to request a takeout container as it's a lot of food for the money. If you think the food is above decent, you obviously have pitiful taste. You need to stop eating at Chili's and Hooters for special occasions, spend some extra money and learn what real gastronomy is. Even Tex-Mex can be finely crafted cuisine. This is crap. After seeing a few bad reviews we were hesitant to try Chuy's but we are so glad we did! I don't know where all the hate is coming from honestly- maybe because people here think that everything has to be crawdads and Cajun food?? The staff is friendly and courteous- server Aimee was awesome (kudos) and the food was amazing. It was what you would expect from a chain. It certainly wasn't bad, but nothing ground breaking or mind blowing. I would definitely eat here again if I was shopping in the area and in the mood for Mexican, but I would not make a special trip just to eat here. Portion sizes were big and the pricing on the menu is pretty good. Food is meh, prices are higher than some of the better Mexican places around here. I honestly don't know why this place stays packed. The salsa isn't the worst, definitely not the best. I got the fajitas, I was disappointed with how much meat and veggies were on the main plate. Most Mexican places give you a whole lot more. Fajitas were ok, you could tell they tried with fresh ingredients. I took a bit of my brothers monster burrito and yuck!!!!! I had to spit the bite out.m, it was so salty!!! I definitely would have sent that dish back if it were mine. Food was over priced compared to other better Mexican places around here that give you more food. The place was busy, Walmart type crowd, family friendly . We were seated within 15 minutes of our wait time. Server was very nice. Our food came out fairly quickly . The food unfortunately was average, very bland ! It was as if they didn't season anything. I was expecting a little more than this. We had eaten at one of there locations in Dallas and enjoyed it. Another bland, mediocre Mexican restaurant in Lafayette. I really thought this one might be different since it is a Tex-Mex Austin based restaurant. However, I was let down big time. I got the flautas and my husband got the crispy tacos with fajita beef. The product is fresh which was the only upside. The downside was the seasoning. The chicken and beef both tasted like they didn't even salt it, much less season it otherwise. They do have available signature sauces you can order with your food, but I like to taste my dish rather than smothering it in sauce. This was just your typical chain food. Better than tampicos and posados, but worse than agave. The margaritas were so-so. Again fresh tasting but nothing special. And also just to add insult to injury, when my husband asked the bartender what type of tequila was served in the house margarita, she said their house/well tequila was a gold. We asked if there was a clear house tequila and she explained that they did, but that the only difference between gold and clear tequila is coloring. Smh. Will absolutely not be returning. read more

It is not Mexican, it is Tex-Mex. the food was ok. We sat by the bar and it was crowded with waiters or bartenders that had no idea what they were doing, drinks were ok as well... We then moved to a table and it seemed like the waiter and bartender were discussing about who was going to help us and kept pointing at us... Probably will not be back. read more

My family loves their chuychangas with jalapeño cream sauce. They are the best I have ever had. In fact, we drive 90 miles just for their chuychangas. However, their nachos are not very good. read more

My husband and I decided to sit at the bar. Wrong decision! Bartender literally just gave us a menu without even saying a word. 5 mins had pass he is still literally just standing there doing nothing and not even asked us for our drinks! I finally waved the hostess down and ask for a table because obviously we will not get any kind of service sitting at the bar. Food was very bland but the margaritas were good. Service was absolutely horrible. I didn't get his name because he didn't have a name tag on nor did he tells us his name. I lost count on how many times he zoned out throughout him waiting on us, forgot to bring something, and just generally inattentive. Food was typical cheap Mexican, nothing special. Was excited about trying this new spot so the wife and I gave it a go. We sat in the bar after being told there was a 45 minute wait. No biggie. Free chips and salsa make it all better right? Wrong. The salsa tasted like.....a mixture of sweaty sock and onion juice. No kidding. Decided then to try an appetiser platter. I can only describe what I received as being microwaved frozen mexican food.....barely. I've actually had kid cuizine tv dinners that were more appealing than this stuff. Not gonna go back. Large portions sizes, enjoyable food, and great prices. However, nothing stood out compared to other mexican restaurants in Lafayette. The restaurant atmosphere was nice but felt crowded and loud. The only thing I was fairly disappointed at was the service. Two out of the six orders were brought out incorrectly, and our server made it unenjoyable with awkward or inappropriate comments. read more

Yesterday I went, for the first time, to Chuy's and we sat in the bar area. The waitress, Kylie, came over to our table and not long after she got there she in a very loud voice told my 3 year old to sit down. If my daughter were doing something wrong I would have corrected.
