Thanks to one of your servers, Gretchen for being the worst ever server at Chuy's that i have EVER HAD and giving me and my family the worst experience possible. First, I am about to be 24 years old in about a week and yes i agree i do not look the appropriate age, and i asked for a alcoholic beverage. i understand your restaurants policy's about i.d. checks but come on... she had my i.d. for a good 2 minutes investigating and and still hesitated placing my order for my alcoholic beverage. second, only got 3 out of a party of 6's order correct. third, when asking for to go boxes, i asked if i could have some chips, salsa, and creamy jalapeño to go as well and gretchen's response was they would have to charge me, even thought i wouldn't care if i knew they did charge me since i asked for it, and when asked how much she would have to charge me very rudely and sarcastically responded like i wouldn't be able to afford it saying oh like waaay to much. she never once gave me a price. and last but not least, when giving her the payment for the bill, i paid half cash and half card and most of the bill was paid in the cash, when we handed over the payment to her she immediately asked if the cash was hers and when she brought my card back to the table with the receipt to sign she slammed the thing that holds the receipt and my card on the table and walked around the table and yelled TELL ME WHAT I DID WRONG, DID I DO SOMETHING WRONG?! This is by far our favorite place for Tex-Mex. Close your eyes and pick anything on the menu. It's hard to go wrong. The chips, the salsa, the creamy jalapeño sauce - delicious and complimentary. It's so hard not to order their chicken chuychanga. It's so amazing with hatch and/or chicka boom boom sauce. The tortilla soup, mmm mmm! The daily specials are, special. The sweet tea, perfect. This is one of my favorite Chuy's location. I am a regular customer at this restaurant chain. I have to start out with the amazing crispy, thin, almost see through chips. Ask did the creamy jalapeño sauce, it's a must with the chips. However, the chips haven't been the same the past two times I went to this location. It was oily. Most of the time I order the "Big as your face burrito" the steak. Try also the fajita! Everything is amazing. My Bride and I recently decided to go to Chuy's as they have a great outdoor covered patio area and it was about to rain. The temperature had already dropped so the weather couldn't have been more pleasant. However, the weather was the best part of our visit that day. We ordered Pomegranate Margaritas, having ordered them before and really liked the taste to the point that we looked up a recipe online for them and now I make them at home. When the drinks came, they looked off and tasted even more so. They were syrupy sweet, which is definitely not how they're supposed to taste. We told our server they weren't up to par after we both took a sip, and she replaced them with two more. Unfortunately, it was a second swing and a miss. They didn't (again) look the way they should, and coincidentally didn't taste they way they should, again. My Bride and I decided we were done with the Margaritas, and didn't drink any more of them. We told our server of this second failed attempt, and she told us she would get a Manager to come speak with us. That never happened. So, we moved onto food and ordered the chicken chimichanga and the chicken and spinach enchilada special. Both meals were bland and tasteless. We both realized we were eating food that didn't taste good, and stopped less than halfway through them. Our server brought our check shortly after bringing the entrees and didn't ask us how our meals were or if we wanted another type of drink; I believe at that point she was done with us, despite not complaining to her regarding our dinners. I still tipped her, but at around 10% and not my customary 20%. It was obvious that serving was not her Dream Job or employment in which she sought fulfillment from doing her job well. Nothing personal; but facts are facts. My opinion is that Chuy's suffers from a severe lack of consistency in preparing their products, from the drinks to the meals. The best parts of our experience that day were, 1.) the chips and salsa, 2.) sitting outside while watching a Summer rainstorm move through, and 3.) arriving at the conclusion that there are too many other places to go out to eat to waste money and time going to Chuy's in the future. read more

Worst meal ever! First time going to Chuy's in Franklin TN. Ordered the chicken fajitas, huge mistake! Received a charred half of a half tiny unseasoned dry chicken breast on top of a pile of mushy onions and green pepper pieces. My husband ordered the same meal and his was the same disappointment, so this wasn't a "one-time mistake" situation. Fajitas is supposed to be an assortment of seasoned vegetables cooked til slightly tender then combined with cooked seasoned chicken in a stir fry method. It is not a dry unseasoned charred half of a half piece of chicken breast placed on a bed of mushy onions and peppers. Along with this was 3 tablespoons of unseasoned rice and beans (i measured the amounts because I couldn't believe how little the portion sizes were). No flavoring on anything, mushy onions and peppers and nothing marinated as described in the menu along with very small portion sizes. I can't believe they're charging $17.00 for this crap. I can cook better than this at home which I obviously should have done in the first place instead of going here. Save yourself the money and negative experience, DO NOT EAT HERE!! Eat here a lot. The 3 way app with guacamole cheese and meat is perfect. Chips are thin and fresh. Salsa is amazing with a kick. I always get the Chuychanga. I sub ground beef for the chicken, and it is outstanding. Margaritas are great, not a mix. Outside seating is fun if weather permits. Went to Chuy's for lunch. It's always a favorite of mine. Good food and friendly servers (even though they are almost always really busy). Love their chips and salsa. The chips are light and you can taste the extra cilantro in the salsa. I had the chicka chicka boom boom (enchilada) today. The chicken was very moist and in larger pieces (not stringy). The boom boom sauce is very good. Just a little hint of spice but, not overpowering. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the green chile rice. Server was "bothered" by our presence. Requested item 3+ times. My friend didn't receive her adult beverage until we got our meal. My infant daughter became fussy and asked for hot water to warm her bottle. It's all about the sauces and the quirky atmosphere. This place is easily the best Tex-Mex in Franklin hands down. Everything that my wife and I have had is something we'd order again. The stuffed anaheim peppers are a nice get-away from the poblanos that every other single place uses. They have several different versions of these Chile Rellenos with stuffings to please. The tomatillo or deluxe tomatillo sauce goes well on top of any of them. read more

While Chuy's may be a chain, this place has my vote for best in town (including Nashville) for several reasons. #1 outstanding service. Truly one of the best waiters I've experienced in a long time, Roland, was witty, personable, helpful with suggestions about the menu, got every order correct, and gracious under extreme pressure. We saddled him with a large group (of 10) on a busy Friday night, and then proceeded to have 5 additional friends come in at random times as others were leaving. He kept up with orders, and the hostess also tried to accommodate us as best they could given the 30 minute wait for a table. This was all without complaint or even a raised eyebrow! (Did I mention that we then needed about 8 separate tickets?!) Amazing. I've been treated far worse while paying more at fancy pants restuarants around town. #2 awesome food. I haven't even mentioned the real reason this place is so popular. Everything we ordered was great. The chips are handmade on sight- they are delicately thin and delicous. The salsa is a little salty for my taste, but still very fresh, flavorful and spicy-the salt doesn't overpower the tomato and cilantro flavor. And the main courses! They are very reasonably priced-even cheap for the quantity and high quality. I had the daily special of enchiladas blancas, which was superb. Delicious roasted, pulled chicken that was not dry like most enchiladas and not hiding in mounds of cheese. Plenty of veggies in the vegetarian enchilada, and not overwhelmed either with cheese. The sauce was perfect- creamy and spicy, but not drowning the dish. It was exceptionally hot- hotter than most places are willing to go, and I loved that! Even the standard issue refried beans and rice were exceptional- fresh, spicy, and plenty of flavor in both without being greasy. Several friends had a cheese chile relleno- also perfect. Cojito cheese inside a very hot chile (no gooey yellow cheese mess), and finished with a nice crusty exterior. The Tres leches cake was divine and large enough for 10 people to share. #3 And the cocktails! All the fruit margaritas are delicious and fresh. A favorite of the table was the texas martini- a margarita flavored martini that is generously portioned and subtle. The margarita taste is not overpowering and was perfect with chips and salsa. This place is popular and crowded for a reason! I only hope they will open a location nothward, but in the meantime I will gladly drive and wait. It was that good. The suggestions I have: go early and go on a weekday if you want to avoid a crowd, order a daily special or get a recommendaton from your waiter and branch out from the standards, and ask for Roland- as I told him, I'm ruined for other waiters. read more

Went to Chuy's for the first time on Sunday with the wife ( her 3rd time). Have to say its nothing special. The chips were very fresh, and our food was good not great. Had the fajitas and they were not anything better than i've had in most other mexican places. Personally not a huge fan of pico and prefer salsa but whatever. I found the prices to be way too high for what it actually is. Although while the food was average to above average the service was EXCELLENT. I believe our server was Kat or Kathryn. She was awesome. Anyways overall i would rather go to my neighborhood mexican place than here. read more

I'm frankly surprised by the poor reviews. I am very happy there is FINALLY some good Tex-Mex in Franklin. The food is excellent. The sauces are wonderful. They knock the ball out of the park. The problem this restaurant has (and it could be due to the newness) is the wait staff was horrible. I've been here 3 times since it opened. The first time was pretty smooth. The second time... they ran out of queso. Wow. Mexican food without queso? And then the waitress brought me the wrong plate. They quickly corrected it, but still. The third time I ordered queso that never came, but it showed up on the bill. I pointed it out to the waitress and she went and reprinted it... but did not remove the queso. Finally I grabbed a passing manager and he corrected the bill. The only other problem is getting IN the restaurant. The wait times are still pretty extreme. read more

Who wouldn't like Elvis, a shiney hub cap room, a Chuy Chiwawa dog bar, plus great Mexican with a fun service attitude? I was introduced to Chuy's in Franklin by a female who LOVES the place. She is obsessed, I wasn't going to be won over that easily. I've really come to like the place after several visits now. The price of the food is VERY reasonable, the margarita's are good and 4 to 5 bucks, cheaper during Happy Hour. They have a salsa bar in the bar where you can get your own chips and salsa, they bring these to you also. The food tastes fresh. The sauces are fresh. During Happy Hour (which rocks) they have a "Nacho Bar" that includes free ground beef and cheese dip. Ask for the Creamy Jalapeno sauce, it isn't on the menu, but is free and good with their fresh chips. Cons: can get crowded, but probably one of the freshest Tex-Mex in Nashville. read more

Spent quite a few happy hour at this place right up at the bar and have always found the bartenders to be hospitable and friendly. The other folks at the bar are typically chatty and fun to talk to. They have an old car front end in the corner with all the fixins for nachos...meat, cheese, and chips.......they go quickly and they sometimes are a little slow to refill them if it is getting close to 6:00 so grab them if you see them. We are big fans of the Texas margarita. It comes in it's own shaker and is dang tasty. Also if you bring in a framed picture of you pet they will hang it on the wall and give you a free appetizer. Fun huh? This is more tex-mex food so most people order the big burritos on their menu---I typically just got a few tacos ala carte' and got some of the free nachos ....I was there to wind down from the stress of the office and have a couple drinks. When it comes to Tex-Mex food with the Texas/California flare...Chuy's is the best in Nashville. The flavors involving cumin, fresh cilantro, and peppers is the right balance that makes it different than the typical Mexican food that Nashville is familiar with such as Las Palmas.
