I have to say, I love the swirled frozen margaritas... I wasn't really hungry so I just ordered the Chicken tortilla soup. It's a fairly large bowl. This was my first clear soup of this kind, so I was a bit surprised. But once I tasted it, I was on board. Very nice taste, lots of meat floating around in there, so yes, I recommend trying it. My guests all enjoyed their various dishes, which is very important to me. Also there are a million fish dangling from the ceiling, which I enjoyed. Bug in food Went to Chuy's for lunch today and found a larvae in the lettuce. I have truly never experienced this before. I have seen posts about these things but I was in so much shock when it happened to me. So we got Sat and didn't get service for ten minutes. The waiter came maybe two times and when the food came out I had two bites and thought "oh lettuce would be nice ontop" WRONG! I found the larva when I moved the lettuce and tried to convince myself it was just brown rice but it was a mushy and had little legs. I told the waiter and did not want anything else so they comped my entree. Now I wouldn't be writing this if the ending wasn't how it was. The manager came over and said "idk what that is but it shouldn't be there" asked if I wanted something else and I said no. I waitressed all through high-school and college so I have comped quite a bit of wrong orders in my time. Instead they still charged me for a Diet Coke and my queso dip... maybe you don't think it's wrong but all managers I worked with in restaurants would have never let a customer who just found larvae in their food to pay anything. Tried to go to this Chuy's today around 3:30pm (Sunday). Wasn't busy and we were seated right away. However, after several staff passed by us and we didn't receive service for 15mins, we left. Normally love Chuy's but the service at this location seems to be subpar (at best) Went to Z Toro instead and were served immediately and the food was fantastic. I think we were forgotten about several times, including an entree we had ordered to go and had to ask the hostess to find for us as our server never returned with it. Tonight we meet friends at Chuys for dinner. It was a fun time with ice cold beers, Paloma's cocktails and their new, large Mexican Martini. I highly recommend both of the cocktails. The hot queso arrived quickly to our table. It was colorful and festive with small mounds of meat, salsa and green chilies peaking out of the golden, creamy queso dip. The dip was so fresh and flavorful as we devoured the queso with the phenomenal, crispy and light chips that were sturdy enough to dip. Not only did we snack on the queso but we topped off our entrees too. The creamy jalapenos sauce, fresh salsa and awesome hatch green chili sauce was devoured by the four of us. There are a wide selection of sauces to select from. Check out Happy Hour on week days, 3-6 p.m. for $5 Chips and Dips with several drink specials. I ordered my favorite entree, Chika-Chika Boom-Boom Enchiladas, with full-flavored roasted chicken and cheese topped with the boob-boom sauce. It was spicy and delicious. My husband ordered the spectacular Fajita Beef "Big As Yo' Face" Burrito. Most people could easily share this generously filled, savory burrito but in time my husband demolished it. Our friends ordered the large, fresh taco salad and she had the chicken burrito with hatch chili pepper sauce. They both loved their meals. All of us enjoyed the food, cocktails, atmosphere, colorful decor and the very comfortable covered patio. The highlight of the night was our server. The service was exceptional and he didn't miss a beat. From his outgoing personality, totally knowledgeable, warm welcome, drinks and re-fills arrived quickly with entrees following. Felt the food was quite Americanized and a little bland to what I've had before but maybe that's good for those watching salt intake. Service was friendly. Live the salsa, lite chips & jalapeño ranch on my Taco Salad I ordered. The cilantro vinaigrette reminded me of a strange Thousand Island, not close to a vinaigrette which I ordered on the side. Instead, I went w/ Tiffany's suggestion of the jalapeño Ranch. I am not a good judge of spice cuz I live for spice so I'd say it is not hot, but you may think it is. None of what I ordered was hot even w/ hot sauce. Next time I will a sauce from the hot side to try. Ordered the chicken fajitas which came w/ all the fixens & was tasty. The ambiance of this place is fun and funky tex mex. From the hubcap laden ceiling to palms trees over you, to wooden fish all over the place, this gives a perfect Texas like vibe! Just like other Mexican places, they served chips and salsa but the highlight of it was their creamy jalapeno sauce. I can literally drink that sauce! Ordered crispy shrimp tacos and Fajita chicken. The tacos were great, fresh and juicy. The fajita chicken came out sizzling. The cherry on the top is the orange creamy push popsicles served to kids for free! Would highly recommend this place! We recently came by this location with our kids because we were in the area, and the experience was awesome. Unlike last time, we were noticed and seated almost immediately, and our hostess was extremely attentive. Painting, photos, wooden fish ( although I didn't see fish on the menu ) photos of dogs in the bar area. I really liked the retro booths and kitchen tables and chairs. The menu. Cilantro is one ingredient in I'd say 90% of the items. I personally hate cilantro so I had a hard time figuring out what to eat. Even most of their signature sauces contain cilantro. Started with Chips and Queso. Server also brought out salsa and spicy ranch. The queso was pretty good. The salsa was very bright and fresh, the spicy ranch for me was the best. Entrees I got Taco Salad with seasoned ground beef. I removed the guacamole and tomato's and added the refried beans from my husbands dish. I used both queso and spicy ranch for my dressing. I would get the salad again. Husband got soft chicken tacos. He added the queso to his tacos as he ate them. He said they were good. Nothing Wowed us. We love Chuy's!! From the moment I tried the light, thin, crispy chips to the Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom Enchildas, I was hooked on this Tex-Mex restaurant. Everything is so fresh and flavorful with most items homemade in the restaurant. The restaurant is bright, fresh, clean and colorful with unique decor from hubcaps hanging above booths, customers' dog photos, hand craved wooden fish swimming from the ceiling with beautiful and colorful tile and furniture. As you enter the bar be careful of the steps going down into the bar. I've been in the bar area many times but still forget about the steps and stumble since I'm checking out the decor. The menu has all your favorite Tex-Mex items from nachos, queso dip, tortilla soup, tacos, salads, enchiladas, burritos (try the Big As Yo' Face Burrito), fajitas plus 6 different types of sauces. I personally enjoy the Boom-Boom Sauce and the Hatch Green Chili Sauce which is a spicy sauce and one of the house specialties. The Hatch Green Chili Sauce is my favorite and made with fire-roasted New Mexican green chiles & caramelized onions. So tasty! Great on your entree or order a side to dip the chips in. Try one of our favorites of Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom or the Elvis Presley Memorial Combo/Enchiladas or Big As Yo' Face Burrito. Today I ordered the 18 oz Original Texas Tini made with freshly squeezed lime juice. So fresh and not overly sweet. I do wish Chuy's would bring back the fresh Charro Beans they eliminated when they reopened after the pandemic. I love Chuy's... but Chuy's via door dash was a huge disappointment. The picture speaks for itself.... All clumped together and not a lot of steak. They forgot the pico and jalapeños so it was pretty disapointing. I eat at the restaurant regularly and never have this issue. I hope it's just a to go/ door dash issue. read more

Chuy's is our favorite Americanized Tex-Mex food in the area. I always have to get their amazing creamy jalapeno ranch sauce to dip my chips in, and use the rest to drizzle over whatever food I get. I tried the panchos this time with the fajita chicken and ate them over 2 days with leftovers. Very good and obviously filling. The salsa had the perfect consistency and was more of pico de gallo style which I love. I noticed a lady across from our table must've ordered some chicken soft tacos. They looked great. You could tell the tortillas were homemade. I ordered the jalapeño ranch dip and they need to bottle that so you can take it home. It's that good! I loved the sauce that was on the chicka chicka boom boom entree. I noticed they don't skimp on the shredded chicken that was inside. The Elvis Presley entree was the same as far as not skimping on the meat. Even the beef taco that was on the side plate aka Pricilla's plate was a decent sized taco! The atmosphere was fun and colorful. The waitress was very friendly and nice. I will be trying lots of different items to narrow down what my favorite might be. It's going to be hard to choose because all the food I saw people eating looked good! By 5:30pm their were several waiting for a table and upon leaving at 6:15pm it was packed with people waiting inside and outside for tables. Surprised how small the seating is inside and not much more outside. Would've thought the inside seating would be larger. Only two stalls in women's bathroom & 1 stall out of order. Server, Nathen, was very prompt and polite. Complimentary chips and salsa were good and nice. Ordered small guacamole and less than impressed. Don't recommend guacamole. Instead try queso or stick with the yummy salsa. The chicken combo was very tasty as well as my husbands relleno combo. Nice to have a good Tex-Mex meal. Update for COVID-19 Curbside Takeout: Easy to us online ordering or can call on phone to order ahead. Curbside runs smoothly. Text tells when food will be ready, when arrive you text with your name and parking stall #, then they send out your order. We've done this 3 times over last 5 weeks. Food hits the spot for that Tex Mex craving and comes with a big bag of their tasty chips, salsa, and jalapeño ranch dip. Menu is limited but delicious! I was also bothered, the entire meal by gnats. The food was mediocre, but there was ample parking, and the decor was pretty neat. 10-2019. The honeymoon is over. The parents are out of town, the animals are running the zoo... the food remains good and timely. The service and accommodations are downward spiral. "Ever" was our server in training and his mentor was both critical and arrogant. He's been in food service for 27yrs apparently demonstrated by how he holds neck of beer bottle just before submerses it into a negative pour in a pint glass... when the customer simply requested a glass. After arriving 30 minutes ahead of my group my request for outdoor table was both ignored and lost in shuffle. The floor manager ignored the fact that they filled our table, then we were left with 40 minute longer wait for our table or eat indoors... the indoor sound level rivals that of a daycare on a first day of school. I won't be back for a while... which is disappointing as I like the food drinks. But my wife and I have better options that permit us to relax and not feel like we were 'lucky for privledge' to eat there. Maybe the proprietors can check in on a Thursday sometime soon. read more

Chuy's spent a lot of time renovating the former Applebee's on Michigan Road including adding a covered patio with our side seating. The lines waiting for a table have been consistent sine opening 4 weeks ago. I was anxious to try and see what all the hype was about. Chuy's carries Tex-mex cuisine with signature sauces and fresh made tortillas. Portions are huge for the simple menu that carries upscale versions of traditional Mexican fare. On both visits I was part of a large group. They do not take reservations so we had to wait for them to configure tables for us. One if the waits was 35 minutes while the other was about 15 minutes. In both cases the tables were in a tight aisle so we were uncomfortable and chronically getting knocked. That was the only down side. The food was delicious. I go a light chicken combo 9 on both visits because I liked it so much. The vegetables are ultra fresh. I loved the jalapeño sauce that I ordered separately. There is a complimentary nacho bar in the bar that offers a tasty assortment of their salsas and fixings. I did not know about the bar until someone in our group told us. There is an outdoor seating area that looks inviting. Restrooms were upscale and nice. I'll definitely go back. Get there early and stay in a small group. read more

If you eat nothing else here, you need to eat the tres leches cake. Chuy's has the best tres leches that I've ever had, and I've had a lot of tres leches from some hardcore Mexican establishments. This is the tres leches to end tres leches. It will satisfy your soul. So now that you've had the most important part of any meal (dessert), the next thing you must eat is the queso. Now, I'm not a big queso person, because queso in Indiana is usually white and watery. But Chuy's queso is perfectly orange and housemade -- the cheese is balanced perfectly by the chiles that are added, which give it a nice kick. You'll need something to wash down all that sugar and cheese, so you should naturally order a margarita. The lime juice is squeezed fresh here (no mixes), so I suggest the house margarita on the rocks. It's not too sweet, and you can really taste the lime. If you're not into lime, they have a mean watermelon margarita. (Yes, I tried both, because por que no los dos!) I could make a meal on those three things alone, but if you want "food" food, I suggest ordering something with sauce, like an enchilada. In fact, order the tomatillo enchiladas, because that sauce is bomb. I had the pleasure of talking to the owner during my visit, and he let me know that they make all of their sauces from scratch. From scratch! They also make their tortillas from scratch, which I tasted when I ordered a chicken quesadilla. You can really tell the difference when you eat a quesadilla made with a housemade tortilla. This restaurant is super family friendly, and there are lots of tchotchkes and art on the walls to look at. They have this game going where they've hidden a bunch of tiny dogs everywhere, and kids are encouraged to find them. Speaking of dogs: If you bring in a framed photo of your dog, they will hang it on their wall! That's so great. read more

The complimentary chips came with some bold, fresh salsa that was delicious and easily the most tasteful thing I ate there. And that's where the positives end. I ordered the Elvis Presley combo which was an assortment of 5 different items - all of which tasted the same. It was a giant plate of food and I did not leave hungry ...but everything was bland. It was like if they had Tex-Mex night at the old folks home. I understand some people dont like spice so restaurants have to be careful about going to far up the spice chart....but this kind of fare is by definition spicy. So not wanting spice in your tex-mex is like going to a strip club and not wanting any nudity. All in all, its not horrible but not great either. We like to go to Chuys for Happy Hour. It's 4-7pm on Monday through Friday. They have a free fully loaded nacho car. Yes, in the trunk of an old car! It comes complete with chips, salsa, queso, ground beef and refined beans. You can make a meal of it! We go on Wednesdays when the bar special is $2 off their margaritas. They also serve a complementary cream jalepeno dip which I don't care for but my wife likes. For dinner, we normally split the Panchos Nachos Appetizer. It's regular nachos plus some. It comes with your choice of fajita chicken, fajita beef or seasoned ground beef, guacamole and pico de gallo. But tonight we decided to be different and got the Fajita Chicken Quesadilla. It's lower in calories but less food than the Panchos Nachos. The servers are friendly and the food served quickly. We will continue to return! read more

I've been eating at Chuy's since the 90's when I used to travel to Austin for work. It's my favorite place for Tex-Mex, and I am bias. I have been the OG Chuy's. Before Chuy's opened in Indy, I would drive 2 hours to Cincy or Clarksville to eat it. (Bias) If you've eaten at one Chuy's, you've eaten at just one Chuy's. They are all decorated differently. Since they've grown, there are more similarities, but in Texas they are all a lot more different. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu and I have a lot of the items from the Elvis Presley Memorial to Tacos. My go to used to be the Southwestern Enchilada until I tried the Chili Relleno. If you like Rellenos, give theirs a try with the Hatch Chili sauce. They are not limp and soggy like other places. Theirs are firm, crispy and delicious. On the weekends, they make pulled pork special for the Macho Burrito. Don't over look the Elvis Green Chile Fried Chicken either. It's pretty awesome. Not low cal, but high taste. Make sure you ask for the Jalapeño Ranch salsa when seated. It's a nice complement to the Fresca salsa. read more
