Best churros over ever had! I loved that they didn't overly sweeten the churro itself. Much of the sweetness comes from the chocolate dip. The chocolate is creamy and thick. Would come again and again if I could.

We visited Churrería Madrid 1883 2 times when we stayed in Madrid. The staff didn't speak English fluently but there was clear photos on menu so it was easy to order by pointing on me Their Churros and Porras were super amazingly crunchy outside, soft inside and tasty with creamy but not too sweet chocolate dipping and we thought it was better than Churrería San Ginés which is the top 1 both on yelp and google reviews. (One of the reason might be Madrid 1883 serving everything fresh and warm.)

It was my first time having Churros con Chocolate and I liked it. The churros were slightly crunchy and the chocolate was really good. The service is good and rather quick.

Very traditional fare. Served in this old restaurant. The dust is original. It's a must.

I believe they've gobbled up the nearby spaces around them, so they can open up more seating capacity and open a take out counter. They also have an outdoor patio. The original still looks beautiful inside. You know the churros is fresh, because the people keep coming. And that thick cup of chocolate is so good!

My parents were visiting Madrid and were genuinely excited to try the famous churros and hot chocolate at Chocolatería San Ginés. Unfortunately, their experience was ruined by one of the servers, Ali, a tall, grey-haired man. While serving them, Ali said "chino, chino, cappuccino" while making a derogatory gesture pulling the skin around his eyes. The gesture is extremely offensive and inappropriate in 2026. My parents told him directly that he should not be doing things like that. My mother also told him "we may all look different, but we are all the same," and expressed how much she loves Spain but dislikes being treated this way by people like him. What makes this especially upsetting is that my parents were guests visiting Spain from the US and were looking forward to experiencing the culture and food. Instead, they left with a very sour impression because of the behavior of one employee. The churros and hot chocolate may be well known, but no food is worth being subjected to a racist or derogatory gesture. I hope management takes this seriously and addresses this employee's behavior so other visitors do not have a similar experience.

Stay for the drinks which are the real winner here. The iced banana latte is made with strong and flavorful coffee, with a caramelized bit of banana on top. My daughter had the Spanish sea salt latte which was also very good. Bakery items and sandwiches are also available for purchase. I settled on the avocado toast with some sprinkle of spices that I cannot recall. It was tasty. The tables nearby ordered dessert items like cheesecake and strawberry shortcake that looked delicious. Perfect spot for some delicious coffee, a place to chat and chill. Service was fast and friendly. They even spoke English. I was jet lagged and stumbled upon this place while looking at Yelp in the morning. I opted to order the Banana Coffee and Salmon Breakfast Bagel, which came out to roughly $22 USD. The coffee itself looked amazing, taste wise I would say it's good not great. I wish it had more banana sweetener or was creamier, but that's probably my American taste buds talking. The Salmon Breakfast Bagel was delicious, would order again. Overall I would say a good experience, they spoke English which was nice. Would I go again? Yes!
