Churros & coffee with a view!

A must when in Madrid's old town! I have been coming here for more than a decade, and I never get tired of their crispy hot churros and amazing coffee!

We tried all the big names and other chains, and we most loved the darker chocolate and denser churros at Valor over any others. We had churros at more than 10 places in Madrid and here the churros are heavier and have more cake substance than the light carnival style elsewhere. Portions are small so you need a serving of 4 per person. If you want quantity for cheap then go to Maestro. If you want the experience indoors go to San Gines, but for my taste Valor was best.

It waa pretty good. Fresh churroz. Their chocolate was strong and thick. I enjoyed it The tea was the winning piece for me. Smell amazing. Since the chocolate was so sweet the tea really finish off the taste. I enjoyed it. No long line waiting. I went around 5pm. Seated outside. The waits staffs can understand English. Over all I loved this place for goood churroz on chocolate. Churroz price was very cheap. Chocolate average price. Tea was most expensive but worth it. All together under 10 euro.

This is a chain of cafes/chocolate shops in Madrid serving churros and chocolate. To be honest I have had much better churros and chocolate in Madrid before but it's not bad. Plenty of outdoor seating and service is ok. This place is nothing special really but it's not bad.

A little pricey for churros but they tasted better than all the other churros I ate in Spain. Service isn't great and neither was the caffe latte so that's why I have to give this place 4 stars. The chocolate for the churros is delicious except for 1 out of the 4 chocolates which wasn't even warm. The other 3 were warm and delicious, especially the white chocolate.

Old style place where you can recharge you battery eating a very nice chocolate cake. Look, this place is open since 1881 so it's got to be doing something right, isn't it! So stop here for a chocolate cake.

There are a few other places for churros y chocolate, but this is the only one I had the chance to visit. Madrid has an amazing thick creamy and decadent hot chocolate that everyone must experience at least once. I wasn't too crazy about the churros, but they go very well with the drink.

This is the second of my Churros con Chocolate stop reviews though the third place I have stopped,,,, Of the three (San Gines and Chocolate are the other two) Valor is quite different, First it is part of a chain, Valor has been around since 1881 and operates several restaurants around Spain There chocolates can be bought at grocery stores throughout the country and beyond. Second it is much larger maybe double the seating of the other to...maybe more then that, Third the menu is much bigger though with a chocolate theme, I should have counted but there were 8-10 different hot chocolates, milk shakes, ice cream and the list goes on, And finally the Churros they were far less dense then the others, round on the sides and a bit greasier then the others. The chocolate was similar to the others, all were very good. The space a Valor is nice, marble counter, table cloths, uniformed staff. As big as it is they still get lines, when I first was going to go there were perhaps a 18 people outside waiting. The churros here were about a euro higher then the other two. Would I go back? yes somehow to me it always feels so...Spanish. and the churros are always very tasty..

When I was in Spain con mi abuelita we tried chocolate shoppes all over the place. Valor was one of my top picks. While it is a franchise this spot has been there since 1800s and it has a real charm. They make them fresh in front of you and the chocolate is to die for. The only way for me to get stuff like this in the states is if my mom or abuelita make the family recipe. We went to San Gines as well and honestly you can't go wrong with either. However, I prefer the actual churro at Valor and the chocolate at San Gines. It's a toss up and a matter of preference. The one thing that this had ad real value for me was the fact that this feels more local. San Ginés had gotten so popular that it's crazy busy and this had a nice chill vibe. We brought some chocolate home to make real hot chocolate when we make churros at home.

Medium cup €4:30 and Large for €4:70.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if they offer this tasty treat at Bay Area donut/pastry/cafes? Fresh piping-hot churros dipped in a cup of warm rich and smooth dark chocolate. A sugar shaker located at each table allowing patrons to reach their desired level of sweetness. It's simply delightful to be favoring this on a beautiful afternoon. It's like a dream you can taste in your mouth. Ahh...what a wonderful life!

Hands down the best I had in Madrid. There are many (i mean LOTS) of places to get churros but this was the best I had.

As I do anytime I see a window full of chocolates, I stopped to admire all the different choices, and then we were waved in by sweet, friendly Paul-Héctor! After chatting for a few minutes, he showed us the different types he had, which included some really unique choices like cava or almond and balsamic vinegar from Modena (the one I chose). He also has jars of different chocolate spreads-- I haven't tried mine yet but I'm sure it won't disappoint! Please make an effort to support this small shop, it was such a delight to find it today!

Fortunately for me, I'm attracted to bright lights, open store fronts, and men wearing funny hats. We wandered inside, noted the hot chocolate (1.50) sign, and walked away with a business card. Mental note made. I returned tonight searching for small gifts to bring to the US. I don't eat chocolate, but I appreciate craftsmanship, finely displayed chocolate, open kitchens, and high ROI (return on investment). Chocolala Belga achieves high marks across these categories. I hope my friends enjoy these delectable treats, big and small.

We (or maybe just me) loved it so much in…read moreMadrid, that one of the first things we (okay, I) did was scout out the closest Barcelona location and make sure that we paid it a visit amongst all the Gaudi and dining we had planned. What I really liked were the "collections" of different chocolates, arranged by "theme", and with 16 pieces to a box and at least 2 of each kind, so that you can savour each mouth-watering hit of deliciousness with someone else. This in itself is a bigger deal than it may seem, as I quickly realized that it's kind of lame when you say, "OMG can you BELIEVE how much like real truffle this tastes? Oh wait, I ate the only piece..." Wah wah. There are 8 collections in all (you can by the entire collection of 64 pieces if you want!), which include single bean origins; dried fruits and nuts; spices; flowers and herbs; liquers; fruit; truffles; and innovations. I've tried the single bean origins, fruit, and innovations collections, and am waiting to dig into a box of spices which made it with us back home. The single bean origins was fantastic, allowing us to compare and contrast the subtle notes, side by side, of chocolates from places like the Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Granada, or Ecuador. The fruits were far from the overly sweet and pungent cream or jelly filled renditions one might be more familiar with, but crafted delicately so that the fruit flavours were gently infused into the chocolate itself. The innovations collection was, surprisingly, more variable in deliciousness that I might have expected, but interesting to see how flavours of soya or black truffle might sit alongside chocolate, or even parmesan cheese and balsamic vinegar. What Cacao Sampaka has to offer extends far beyond just these collections, as there are a huge variety of not only other chocolates, but even wines to match. It really is a chocolate wonderland, and if it were not for the fact that our vacation had to come to an end, I would most certainly have been plunged into the depths of type 2 diabetes as my visits to Cacao Sampaka would have most certainly never ended.
