The churros and chocolate were delicious! The price was fair for what you get. The food was fresh with friendly service too. There is seating inside and out.

Visited back in January and enjoyed. Very good service and delicious food. The ham sandwich was amazing but it was supposed to come with tomato. It was still amazing despite no tomato. The sipping chocolate was so tasty on a cold day.

This is a little hole in the wall that has churros and chocolate. They also have churro bites. Delicious! I couldn't pass this place up!

Just ok, but will work on a pinch. At least the churros were hot. The chocolate was mediocre.

Great selection of churrros and other desserts. The lines can be long during the weekends but during the week you can easily find a seat. They have seating outside as well as inside. Try their freshly squeezed orange juice.

    XXL STUFFED CHURROS

We came in to try their XXL stuffed Churros because they looked so delicious. This was our first churro shop that offered fillings in their churros however were kinda of disappointed. The churros were not crispy in texture. The dulce de leche churro filling was not our cup of tea however the vanilla filled churros was. Maestro Churrero offers regular chocolate con churros but after the xxl churro we were pretty full and didn't want to order another round. This shop is either a hit or a miss depending on what you order. I think it's best to just try the regular chocolate con churros over anything else.

I had my first chocolate filled churro in Barcelona three years ago. Ever since then, I have been wanting another one. I was on my way back to my hotel and passed this shop. There was an assortment of churros in the case. I knew they were going to be bad when I realized that they were in a cold case. Also, the chocolate churro that I picked out was a dulce de leche that was mistakenly put in with the chocolate ones. The churros also did not have the sugary outer coating that I love. I would have given it 1 star, but I ate 3/4 of it so it wasn't complete horrible. But at 3,70€ it was overpriced for the value.

A raccion, 4 churros and ultra thick hot chocolate for 4£

I'm not sure why this churro and chocolate emporium isn't more highly rated because it was pretty darn spectacular. A note of caution about Spanish hot chocolate: it's thick. You're probably thinking thick like clam chowder, but no, I mean thick like flipping your mug over and waiting 15 seconds for it to ooze out. The chocolate is so dense that you can lay your spoon on top and it won't sink. Needless to say, this isn't the sipping variety Americans are used to. Also, the churros are not slathered in sugar and cinnamon. These are more like doughy vessels, doused in a sprinkle of fairy dust and meant exclusively to be dipped fondue style in the chocolate. After trying various chocolaterias, I felt Maestro's had the best consistency and flavor. It was just sweet enough without being obnoxious with a flavor that didn't get tiresome. Not bad for a 4 Euro pincho (4 churros and one mug of hot chocolate).

We had churros dipped in thick chocolate and I thought it was good and reasonably priced, but I'll admit this was a first. It was harder than expected to find a place offering churros with thick chocolate to dip in, so we have not had a chance to compare yet. I'd just be curious to see if other places offer their churros and chocolate warm, ours were cold and from other reviews it looks like they should be warm. Very satisfying though, accompanied with a coffee for a small break while visiting Madrid.

If you have a sweet tooth, this place is definitely it especially with the mix of churros. Customer service was good. The food hit the spot if you're craving for Nutella or dulce de leche especially. It's conveniently located as well.

Dulce de leche churro, limon churro, cafe bombon, y cafe con leche
    Holly F.

Stopped in on a whim. Just passing by and needed to rest our feet. We ordered the dulce de leche churro and the limon churro. Only cared for the dulce de leche. Don't get the limon! The chocolate was so good!! We also got the cafe bombon, and it was equally delicious. Definitely on the sweet side though. Much sweeter than the chocolate.

This was a nice charming place. I had the café con baileys, it was strong but in a good way. We had a few churrero that were good. I prefer my churrero with cinnamon and sugar as they are back at home in New York but these were really good as well

Pretty good gluten-free churros! Everyone thought they tasted as good as the churros with gluten.

Absolutely inedible. We left them on the table and fled. No taste... zero. Even the chocolate tasted like a bad case of covid. Nothing.

The hot chocolate is to die for. Churros are good, when fresh out the oven, as all fried dough.

The chorizo was solid, but the bocadillo de calamares was on another level. Fried to perfection, served on soft bread, and the lemon aioli really set it off. We kept hearing from people all over Madrid that La Campana was the place to go, and I even overheard multiple walking tours throughout the week calling this THE spot for a bocadillo de calamares. After going myself, I completely get it. It is conveniently located right in Plaza Mayor where there are several bocadillo shops, but this is THE one you want. They move fast too. I was in and out of line and already eating in less than 5 minutes. Perfect spot if you want a quick but filling Spanish classic. Next time I am definitely sitting inside and trying more off the menu.

You also have the option to purchase aioli which pairs really well with it. The bread was warm and fresh and everything together makes it clear why this is their most popular item. At under 5 euros, it is an incredible value. The service is straightforward. The employees do not really speak much English, but they are nice and get you taken care of quickly. The shop is located right next to another nearly identical spot that sells the same thing, but La Campana is definitely the more popular one. It gets crowded very fast so it helps to arrive early or be ready to squeeze in. The interior is pretty bare bones with small tables and chairs that fit about 25 people, but it serves its purpose and keeps the focus on the food.

The tandoori chicken is not anything like tandoori. It's very mildly flavored. It was a plain sandwich, as described on the menu, with just meat and nothing else; no butter or mayo, though they have other variations with more ingredients such as lettuce and tomato. Overall I quite liked it. However if I had known earlier their 'pollo' was processed chicken cut into chunky slices, I might not have ordered it, but I thought it was a decent little sandwich. The bread had a nice texture; not crusty, but not too soft. The jamón with tomato and olive oil was actually good quality jamón. I loved that they served a handful of potato chips with the montaditos! Those were perfect. The salad had an iceberg lettuce base (which unfortunately seems to be the standard lettuce in Spain), a good amount of tuna, some other toppings including crispy fried onion bits. Green salads are not a standard on menus in Spain so it was a nice option to have and my husband really liked it. The great thing about the mini-sandwich size is that you can order just enough for your appetite, and you can try different flavors. This site had indoor tables, outdoor tables, and apparently a second floor. It was popular with young people hanging out with friends. It's convenient to the Atocha train station, nearby hotels, and the Reina Sofía museum. They also have Ben and Jerry's ice cream desserts. Staff that night spoke English and were efficient.

But whereas they skimped on portions, they're pretty much packed with flavor. I had the chorizo and brie (which the nephew ate by accident & i had to eat his order: salmon and cream cheese) and a hotdog. Because I felt cheated out of my chorizo and brie, i had to order a third one, plus get a sweet sandwich dessert consisting of chocolate bread, oreos and dulce de leche. Also, I asked for beer but they poured me a mug of apple cider (€2ish). The guys who work here are super nice and alternate playing pop (ed sheeran?) music and heavy metal. They also have a tv on - futbol is on, of course. Wifi is free!!!
