Looking for a cold dessert place and stumbled upon this. The flavors are refreshing and you taste the fresh ingredients. Both the strawberry and mango flavors were really refreshing. We opted for the fresh strawberry and white chocolate chips toppings to be rolled in and incorporated. Pass on the white chocolate chips as they didn't add any flavor at all besides a texture difference. For the size of the serving it was not as fulfilling as I hoped (we shared unfortunately) and was smaller than expected. Nevertheless, still a good spot in Plaza Mayor to try. read more

Came here for some ice cream dessert after dinner. Tried their pistachio and yogurt ice cream with matcha cake and brownies topping. They mixed the toppings into the ice cream in front of you. Both flavors tasted good but the pistachio flavor was on the lighter side. Great tasting ice cream. They spoke good english and they also have a cafe menu for coffees, shakes, and crepes. read more

Mistura was recommended to me by my awesome Devour tour guide so we made time to pop in on this beautiful warm day. There was a good selection of flavors but I decided on vanilla with cookies mixed in for my son and walked over to Plaza Mayor for some people watching while enjoying our very delicious treat. I don't know why but ice cream is just a million times better in Europe- even the store bought stuff is amazing. It's just super creamy and not overly sweet. Anyway, Mistura is definitely worth a stop. They have a few locations throughout the city but if you're in Plaza Mayor it's located in the alley that leads to the amazing San Miguel Mercado. Oh and they also have fresh pressed juices! Had I not had 2 glasses of tinto de verano before stopping in, I would have had one of their juices. read more

We wandered into this cute tucked-away ice cream store on the strength of their reviews without realizing that they have a mix-in ice cream concept, similar to Cold Stone Creamery. We stayed because the guy at the counter was super friendly and outgoing. Seriously, he needs a raise because he kept us in the store despite my reservations about having something that wasn't traditional gelato. I ended up getting the pistachio with candied walnuts mixed in, while my husband got the same flavor but with hazelnuts mixed in. Both were delicious, with quality pistachio gelato and an extra oomph from the mix-ins. I highly recommend the candied walnuts, which were like hidden treasure in my cone. My husband, who doesn't even like candied nuts, thought they were delicious. The only downside to the "mistura" concept is that your gelato melts quicker, but I still thought it was worth it. Prices were reasonable for a touristy area. Plaza Mayor is nearby, and we enjoyed our cones while people-watching. read more

Coffee is priced well and the waffle with ice cream came out to about 7 euro so both were less than 10 euro. Waffle was made fresh and so good! Small seating that faces the street so you can sit and more seating downstairs. Spoke English and was very helpful! read more

Deserves the ratings here. Everything is made fresh out of great ingredients. They were liberal with free samples and have some very unusual flavors. My favorite is the Limon Sin Azucar - it's sweetened with Agave and it was just fantastic mixed with fresh strawberries. My daughter had a crepe with fresh pear and vanilla and loved it. Make sure to stop by this place if you are near Plaza Mayor. My son who is the gelato afficianado said this was one of the best vanillas he's ever had. Highly recommended! read more

Treated very negatively by one of the staff members, and really didn't want to help out at all, felt very condescending even though we spoke Spanish as Americans. Ice cream was fine, but it comes with 1-3 toppings depending on what size you get. The toppings are a total bust. There are like 5 nuts and two fruit jellies....that's all. We are BIG ice cream people and while this place had a nice choice of flavors, it failed to deliver. The guy behind the counter also had a lot of attitude.
