Cute little quick service cafe, no laptops in the front but laptops allowed in the bar seating in the back! It was almost empty when we arrived, but 3/4 of the tables were full by the time we left. You order by the drinks machine, we got the avocado tosta and the sun dried tomato olive tosta, a chai latte and a caffe au lait. Everything was super delicious and fresh, service was very nice and they spoke English to us when we needed it which was much appreciated. Perfect for a light brunch or a quick snack and coffee while browsing the vintage shops nearby.
Venimos acá a tomar un café. Es un lugar muy íntimo y más para hablar con otros que para trabar. There is, however, bar seating where you can work on your laptops but you just can't do that in the front seating area. Their pastries are also very delicious so don't forget to grab one...or two.
Perfect 3rd-wave coffee shop! Excellent coffee, great food, and very professional baristas! Definitely worthwhile visiting even if it is out of your way if you are a follower of specialty cafe. If you are a tourist like me, the baristas I met speaks PERFECT English. I only hope that they can open a bit earlier in the morning.
I was driven by the Yelp reviews to walk to this place. It is not far of a walk from Gran Via. It is located on a quieter side street. The inside of Toma is bustling. You can order takeaway at the bar or go ahead and have them seat you. It is small place so it was loud. I needed to be on a conference call so luckily I had the chance to eat and drink quickly prior to connecting to the meeting. The cappuccino was a disappoint. The taste was off. It had a bad burnt aftertaste. The coffee foam was deformed. I ordered a gluten free avocado toast. Beware because of you order it gluten free it is deconstructed. The gluten free bread is served pre-wrapped after being warmed in the oven. The avocado is mashed and in a tiny container. The avocado mash was tasteless. So I had to a spread the avocado and cut my bread myself. I understand Toma probably serves the gluten free bread this way to avoid cross contamination but I was tAken a back about having to make my own avo toast at my tiny table. This place is bustling so do not expect a squeaky clean table upon arrival. The two stars really is for the horrible cappuccino though. A pity, because like add cafes in Madrid, the customer service was friendly.
Super adorable cafe in a hip area of Madrid. The decor is funky and there are plenty of seats for people who want to do work or dine in. We went on a rainy day and it was still crowded! My boyfriend and I order two different toasts. I don't remember the name but one of them had strawberries, goat cheese, and honey. And the other had sun-dried tomatoes and ricotta cheese. Both were very delicious and unique. Highly recommend this cute cafe if you are in the area.
This is my favorite coffee shop in Madrid. It is located in the Universidad area. It is about a 15-20 min walk from Gran Vía, but well worth the experience. It has a very hipster vibe, and many different forms of seating. They have relaxing music playing in the background. The environment makes this coffee shop better than others I experienced. I could have stayed her for hours drinking coffee and reading a book. Another cool part to this coffee shop is that the employees make your coffee in the open in the middle of the shop. It feels very welcoming and like you are taking a coffee in the home of a friend. They offer free water which you can fix yourself with glasses sitting beside the pitcher. The shop has many plants that they take care of and are very eco-friendly. It is yet another reason this place is so trendy and hipster.
A few days into our Euro trip, we began to feel a little homesick. With the help of the Community Manager in Madrid, Lolo R., we came across this lovely little cafe tucked between the streets. The staff was very friendly, offering recommendations and cracking some jokes. I highly recommend the avocado toast. It was deliciously fresh, perfected with a hint a rosemary and a light cream cheese spread. Their espresso worked its magic as well! We were caffeinated for a full day of adventure. They also serve a variety of fresh cakes for those who crave something sweeter in the mornings. What I liked most about Toma Café was its international feel. There were two walls where visitors would sign/comment with their native language. It was heartwarming to come across "coffee-house" and "water" written in Armenian. Please, do not overlook this shop during your visit to Madrid!

They have an orange cappuccino that is quite special as they make it from a milk infused with orange that is something I haven't had before. Quite a popular place for people in the know but still good seating in the back. Good place if you're looking for some place for a few hours away from the central area.

The café doesn't look like much from the outside, but the toasts and cappuccinos are to DIE for. Please do yourself a favor and get the avocado toast with cream cheese, lime, fruit, salt, and lime, or strawberry toast with mascarpone cheese and honey. It tastes as good as it sounds. And when you think you're pretty full, think again. The pastries--often gluten-free-- displayed on the main counter are to-die for. I had a slice of carrot cake and a chocolate chip cookie, both of which were UNREAL. If you do manage to find a spot in the café, there's free wifi so you can sit there and eat toast after toast, pastry after pastry, just like I do. Can't go wrong with Toma Café.

It's a little hole in the wall cafe with a very aesthetic interior and great/unique food and drinks! I ordered an avocado toast with cream cheese, lime, and seasonal fruits (got blueberries this time) - it was delicious! Also ordered the chaimonada, a mix of Chai tea and lemonade. Nice and refreshing! They have free wifi which makes it a good spot to work but be aware there are very minimal outlets (if any) and not many tables for working. Would be a great place to meet with friends over a drink and snack!
I absolutely loved the coffee selection at Toma Café! They had a little bit of everything. I didn't see what food options they had, but the cake looked good! What I ordered: I got a small chai latte. It was delicious! The price was good too. The vibe of this place was very chill. It was loud at some points (I was there at 6 on a Wednesday night) so I wouldn't recommend studying there at night. A great place to hang out! read more

I just moved to Madrid for the next couple months and this coffee shop is the first place I went to since landing! The environment was so cute and friendly and the coffee was so good! I'm so excited to become a regular and try the food! read more

10/10 for sure. Service was amazing, coffee was incredible even for my outrageous Australian standards, and the toasts for breakfast were put of this world. Special mention to the olive oil that brings everything together on the avo toast. Can't recommend this pplace enough. read more

Nice coffee shop with a good ambient. I had a Toastada which was perfectly toasted and with a lot of good olive oil and a nice addition of good salt on the side to add by yourself at your choice. The espresso was also good. read more

This was perfect, just what i needed in Spain! A little cute cafe in the city center! Employees spoke English which was a plus! The latte art was beautiful and the avocado toast was delicious! A must if you eat this, you will not be disappointed read more
Our first coffee shop in Madrid. This place seem to be one of the best coffee places near our hotel and to satisfy my caffeine need I ordered our old fashioned Americano. To my surprise, their coffee tastes slightly sour and probably thats how their coffee beans are but I needed a real coffee with no surprises. Very uber, tiny and cozy place for quick coffee or brunches and several of books to read here. People seem quite informal to share tables and sitting space that can get awkwardly close. P.S. lactose intolerants - They do not serve cream/half and half with coffee, it's milk (leche) only! read more
The best flat white in Madrid!! This is after 5 Artemis at different local coffee shops. Loved my Gouda Sandwich and slice of chocolate cake. Super friendly Batista's and quaint little seating area with free wi-fi. If I was here longer I'd cover every day. Highly recommend it to any one looking for good eats and coffee :) read more

I came here after checking the ratings on yelp, and I definitely do not regret coming here for brunch! I got the avocado test with an iced caramel latte. The music and vibes are amazing... very chill and jazzy. The place is tiny/small but cozy. I definitely recommend this place if you're a visitor or not! Prices are very reasonable on the cheap end of the spectrum. As a critic I would say the WiFi is definitely not something you wanna count on. read more

My family and I came here for a morning coffee when we first arrived to Madrid from Barcelona. We ordered two cafe con leches and sat down in a corner to decide what our plans were for the day. The coffee they make here tastes like an artisan latte made back at home (in the USA) and I really enjoyed that. I also like the fact that there is a solid wifi connection here so if one wishes to browse the internet or to do some work, they can. The clientele here is a mix of everybody including foreign students (I heard people speaking english), locals and other people who come from other parts of Europe. Toma Cafe is a quaint little coffee shop that has all the things one would like in a Cafe. read more
With so many cafes in Malasaña, it's hard to pick out which one to go to. We ended up at Toma for a midday coffee pick me up and opted for a light snack and a pourover to share. We didn't stay long, and we didn't eat or drink a lot, but I really loved the shop itself, and the coffee was great. Their toasts looked great, and had I been more hungry, this would have been an easy go-to for a snack. read more

Spain has great coffee everywhere but this place in particular has excellent coffee. My fiancee ordered the cold brew toque de leche naranja (touch of milk with and orange peel) and I had the cortado (expresso with a touch of milk). Both were wonderful. The cold brew in particular was different than what we have in the States in a good way. My fiancée is not much of a coffee drinker and even she enjoyed the cold brew. The cafe is small with a nice, local feel to it and located in a hipster area. The staff spoke English well and was very friendly. Definitely worth a visit if you are nearby and want a cup of coffee. This place also accepted my visa credit card and has free wifi. read more

Hello, soy latte!!! How I missed you! I searched all over Lisbon and Madrid to find a soy (or "soja") latte, and I only ever had luck in a Starbucks. How depressing. But thanks to Yelp, I found Toma Cafe, which was thankfully just right around the corner from my hotel. It's often described as "American," and I can see what they mean. If you're used to cool coffee shops in the hipster neighborhoods of your local city, you'll probably feel right at home here. It's filled with young people and has a lot of energy. The baristas spoke pretty great English, and were able to hook me up with an avocado toast without feta. I felt like I was in California! The coffee is great, very smooth, and they steamed the soy milk perfectly. They sometimes even have vegan pastries, though I never had the pleasure of being there when they did. Still, I love the effort to offer vegan-friendly coffee and grub in a city that seems to worship jamón. read more

Perfect place for a coffee (which is all we ordered, so can't speak for the food). The inside is beautifully decorated-definitely hipster with plenty of seats and a nice place to enjoy a cafe with a few friends (not a large group). Also, there's free wifi which is a definite plus for the tourists. Very reasonable prices and wonderfully made expresso drinks. 1.2€ euro for an expresso, 1.3€ euro for a cortado (just a little milk), 1.5/2 euro for a regular/large cafe con leche, 2/2.5 euro for a regular/large cappuccino. Very friendly service and the cafes are super smooth and really hit the spot. read more

Best coffee in Madrid. Cute shop located in the Malasaña neighborhood. We found it extremely difficult to find good coffee in Spain, mostly because we are spoiled by the incredible coffee in San Francisco (Blue Bottle, Four Barrel, etc). They select incredible single origin beans and roast them. The coffee was incredibly flavorful and fresh. When we visited, they were in the middle of remodeling their building...but they were still making incredible coffee drinks!! They even had gluten free pastries, which was a big bonus!! One of our visits we were pleasantly surprised with an Americano that tasted so much like an orange. It was the most incredible coffee my husband and I ever tasted in our lives!! Great job Toma Cafe!!! You guys are awesome! :) read more

Great little coffee shop tucked into a small space. Cortado was excellent and well prepared. My daughter and I both ordered the avocado toast. Very generous serving! The toasted bread was warm and crunchy underneath the fresh avocado. Great stop for a coffee and small breakfast! read more
Lovely Cafe in heart of Milan. Very reasonable price point for amazing coffee and food. As visitor of Milan, we discovered this gem in the hipster neighborhood. It was small but so much to offer. My favorite is the Vegan Sandwhich - filled with crunchy cucumber and egg plants. It was filling and worth every bite. We came back twice at the end of our trip. Wish we have something like this in the States. Bravo read more

This place lived up to the hype. Great knowledge staff regarding their beans and brands, delicious espresso and pretty cheap if you ask me. I paid 1,80 for a large flat white! The inside is large enough to sit down in and do some work or have a chat over coffee, they have a cool penguin statue hanging around to take pictures with. They also have water available if you just grab It yourself. Wifi is available free and works great, and the bathrooms are clean and have cool designs. They had some cakes and other sweets which looked amazing but sadly I was not hungry to try them:( maybe next time! The location is in the university area of Madrid, one of my favorites to walk around in, so it's easy to find somewhere to go before and after you grab your coffee. Overall I really loved this place, the ambiance Is very cool and the espresso an excellent value. I'll be back next time I'm in Madrid! read more

I will start with why it doesn't get 5 stars - very few food options. This is NOT a breakfast place, at least not in the way we (americans) think of a breakfast place. it's a cafe with good and solid internet, several tables, excellent coffee and overall great service. (there's a back area, so if the front is full, don't get discouraged) I went in super hungry and looking for a place to do some work and eat breakfast, they only had toast with tomato and ham, several cake options (carrot, banana, etc) and I think thats about it. I spent 3 hours working and would definitely return but I would eat somewhere else first. read more
