    This place was chaotic with not much instruction. There was a crowd by the counter with line out the door for to go orders with beautiful cakes, tarts, pre boxed sweets from what I can see. I think customers have to take a number in the center of the tiny place, past the beginning of the line. The opposite end was another exit with a counter containing a very limited selection of pintxos and pastries with an espresso machine. We ordered directly from the barista and paid here, standing to eat and drink. There's also an upstairs that you'd have to wait to be seated for table service according to the sign but no host was there the entire time we stood and ate next to the sign. Maybe I misunderstood and you'd have to go upstairs to ask for a table? We'll never know now. The one napolitana we got wasn't even that good, but with how famous this place is, might give it another chance next time I'm in town.

    This is such a busy spot with the locals you have to come by and try it out. It's a bit intimidating for sure with everyone seeming to know what's going on as you stand a bit dazed looking around! First off, grab a number so they can call you to sit upstairs. It goes fairly quickly so don't be scared. The prices are right and it's a great place to soak in the atmosphere and energy of the locals. I basically didn't know what I was ordering and ended up with a grilled cheese ham sandwich. It was cheap and it was crispy and buttery! What else could you ask for? 5/5. Also had a cafe con leche (coffee with milk) and since I always ask for it decaf they always give me sugar! Must be a sign of wimpiness. Hubs had the coffee with a pastry and the difference is the creaminess of the chocolate. I think they're known for their neapolitan which is a pastry with chocolate different from a chocolate croissant. The chocolate croissant really looks like a croissant! He gave it a 4/5. Friend had the eggs and ham. Eggs were nicely done. Ham not over powering. 5/5. Again a fun spot to soak it all in. You should check it out!

    Extremely popular place with good pastries, quick seating and responsive service. It was less than a 15 minute wait, which worked well coming off of an overnight flight. The Nopalitama con queso con queso y jamon (cheese and ham) hit the spot of layered dough, cheese and ham. The egg white filling in the mil feuille was too sweet for both my wife and I. Together we finished two thirds of it. My wife enjoyed her open sandwich (infusion ciasica) of avocado, boiled egg, and salmon on a slice of toasted bread. Coffee and espresso were average, only some flavor came through.

    La Mallorquina is a nice place to stop by in Madrid if you are looking for pastries. We tried the croissants and cookies and they were pretty okay, nothing extraordinary but still enjoyable. The interior is tiny and the displays are very aesthetic which makes everything look appealing. They have a digital number system that corresponds to your ticket, but despite everyone grabbing tickets, the staff ended up helping whoever could reach the counter first. It felt very disorganized and it is normal to bump into people while trying to point at what you want. Overall, it is worth visiting for the experience and the presentation, but be ready for a crowded and chaotic ordering process.

    tl;dr the pasteles are hit or miss, the puff pastries will leave you only a few euros short, and the trufas will entice you into a return visit Across the Madrid pasteles game, La Mallorquina is a household name. The flagship cafe in Puerta del Sol has been churning out traditional Spanish treats such as napolitanas and trufas since 1894, and the shop was frequented by poets, politicians, and even members of the Royal Family. Nowadays, La Mallorquina operates multiple shops across Madrid, and the brand even has a strong online store presence. A cursive, pink-neon sign is positioned above the entrance. The window displays are stocked with trays of carefully curated, backlit treats. Inside, the warmly lit to-go bakery displays with wooden trim run along each wall, while a narrow counter is available in the far back for a quick dine-in meal. Bright lights shine down from the soaring ceilings onto the whitewashed walls and checkered floors. Patrons are shoulder to shoulder; muscle your way to the end of the queue, and count on the staff to efficiently churn through the line. If you think that an evening visit will save you some time, guess again; the pre-game crowd was strong at this bakery. For a less hectic experience, grab a ticket from the red overhead dispenser at the Calle Mayor entrance to secure a table upstairs. My mom and I stopped in La Mallorquina a few times. We were most impressed by the Trufa Grande, a tennis ball-sized bonbon loaded with an uber-rich yet light-as-air mousse and coated with mildly crunchy jimmies. Also stellar was the mocha-y Postre de Tiramisu, despite being more cream than cake. My mom, meanwhile, loved her dense, Basque-style Postre de Queso (cheesecake). Across La Mallorquina's puff desserts, I found the pastry to be soggy rather than flaky; such was the case for the Milhoja (which otherwise sported a brick of sweet, fluffy meringue), the signature Napolitana de Chocolate (which was piped with a gritty but flavorful chocolate filling), and the Postre de Limon (which feature a similarly pleasant meringue and a tart, curd-like filling). The seasonal Torrija (a Spanish version of French toast, utilizing day-old bread drenched in sugar, milk, and egg) was remarkably custardy, but the sweet flavor, cold temperature, and mushy texture all felt one-dimensional. Lastly, the biggest "dud" of the lot was the Ponche de Selva Negra; this Spanish black forest cake eschewed any cherry influences (which I didn't mind!) in favor of dense yet flavorless vanilla-and-chocolate ganache; however, the cake and frosting together felt dry. The pastries are all affordable, typically 2-4 euros each. The staff are friendly and patient, even with guests who speak limited Spanish. At their best, La Mallorquina's pasteles as worthy of a second (and third and fourth) visit; at their worst, they are an inexpensive upgrade over the nearby Carrefour Express.

    Dine in or take out dessert place that has plenty of sweet and savory treats. On our second visit we dined in for a pre-dinner dessert. it was worth it. Oscar H, received and served us, and he was awesome. I went back downstairs to ask about a particular cake, and Oscar totally gave that one - the torta de yema (egg yolk cake) - the thumbs up. I said send it up... it was amazing. Not too sweet, and just the right amount of consistency of cake, filling, and glaze topping. I balanced that with a cappuccino. In the evening, around after 7pm, the crowds in the store had died down, and we were easily able to get a seat, actually make it to the counters, and pretty much just hang out and enjoy the tastes that the bakers of Mallorquina put together.     Very nice pastry shop. This is the first location, opened in Puerta del Sol in 1894. It's crowded but service is fast. They don't seem to run out of pastries, they kept putting more out. The local people were really nice. Several women let me go ahead, I took it as a welcome. The napolitana de crema is really good, and the chocolate one had big chunks of chocolate. The Torrija had a lot of cinnamon if you like that. The pink paper they pack it in is pretty. It's very popular with locals and tourists. I went by their location in Salamanca and that seemed fancier and quieter but also busy.

    Our family absolutely loved this wonderful pastry shop during our recent trip to Madrid -- it's a great spot for everything from breakfast and brunch to desserts during the evening paseo. We stopped in most mornings to enjoy delicious Napoleons with Cream and Chocolate Pepitos, along with cups of their excellent coffee. You can eat at the counter, order pastries to go ('para llevar') or dine in their upstairs cafe (where service can be a bit slow). Mornings can be a little busy, especially at the to-go counter, but bring your patience and you'll be rewarded with some of the best pastries in Madrid.

    Perfect breakfast/brunch spot! If you have the time, I'd recommend coming early and dining upstairs! Very bright and airy. Really good value and food was a classic!

    What a madhouse. This place was jammed on a Wednesday evening. And for good reason. We had to join the crowd and see what the commotion was about. The display cases were crammed with so many great looking pastries and candies it was hard to choose one thing. We ordered the Spanish version of French toast - for take-away. When we did eat the pastry it was delicious. We would like to swing by again on our way back home in a few weeks.

    If you're in Madrid, you can't miss this place. The pastries here are SO GOOD. We literally came three days in a row because there was so much we wanted to try. It does get packed and becomes like a war zone during peak hours & on weekends so try to avoid going during those times. If you're dining in, grab a number from the number machine mounted to the wall (close to the staircase) and they'll call out the numbers so you can go upstairs to the dine in area. If you're doing takeout, you'll order downstairs along both sides. The same person you order with will ring you up typically. Some of my favorites: 1. the raspberry tart - it was perfectly tart & sweet, with a crust that was still pretty moist and soft 2. The cream puff pastry (I wish I knew its name) but the cream filling is so light & had hints of zest. 3. Their strawberry cake is also delicious You can not go wrong here. Enjoy!

    This bakery is located at Sol area near the Metro Station. It is always packed with people so it's hard to make selection. I got chocolate and apple napolitano. Both are really good, soft and just melted in your mouth.

    Definitely the best pastries I had while in Spain. The staff was very lukewarm in their service but try not to be discouraged.

Service was fast and friendly. The place was spotless and had a good play list. Terrific product, nice service, great facility....what's not to love?
