Landed in Madrid and dropped our luggage off and then went to go get some coffee and breakfast. Stopped in here and had some lovely food and enjoyed the start to our long day. Staff super friendly and quick service. Loved the cute coffee mugs they give tour for americanos

Fantastic coffee, hot chocolate and baked goods. Had the best Churros and hot Chocolate here. And the prices are so good!!! Will be returning here again and again.

They make delicious plain croissants, word of a Frenchman. And they have an orange pressing machine, so the juice is great. And the best part is that the place is really cheap!

Good cafe and great location. But thins is not any kind of Spanish. So won't recommend for tourist who wants to know local culture.

I'm not normally a breakfast person, but, well, a lot changes when I'm on vacation, especially in cities so known for their food, and more specifically, their coffee and pastries. They do have a slightly confusing system for ordering - at least when I was there, the pastries are in the front and ordered individually from there, like a bakery, but if you're getting drinks to drink there, you have to sit down and wait for a waiter, then if you're getting both, get up again to buy pastries, which they will then put on your open tab. Thankfully, everyone spoke perfect English, so it was an easy enough explanation and process - still a bit weird though. And we still got our coffee orders in like 3 minutes. Coffee-wise, we tried their fancy "Dubai matcha latte", which was... very good, super flavorful, just slightly sweet (it came with a sugar packet if you wanted it sweeter, which it definitely didn't need to be.) Not sure it justified, to me personally, being so much more expensive than all the extremely affordable, less "specialty" drinks, but it was very good. Also a "bombon", a drink word I also learned that day, and then was sad when I didn't see it on the menus at any of the other coffee shops I stopped at, because it was quite good, and, again, also quite cheap. *Super* sweet, obviously, but great. (I was amused that that one *also* came with a sugar packet, which it *definitely* didn't need.) I also tried their chocolate croissant, which, yeah, wonderful. Their pastries are a bit pricier than the coffee drinks, but the croissant melts in your mouth, great chocolate, tons of it, and not, as is often the case with otherwise good chocolate croissants, only in the center. Chocolate actually everywhere. A great croissant. Would definitely be back here often, if I weren't thousands of miles away, normally.

My Airbnb host recommended this place and it is one of the best bakeries I've ever tried! Their…read moreservice was very quick and they had a beautiful interior. Where they really shine is their baked goods. I highly recommend the chocolate croissant with a coffee! I should've went here every day on my vacation. My only regret is not going early on my trip so I can go there everyday!

As I was walking back towards Gran Via, I found El Riojano and stopped in. There is the pastry shop in the front and a cafe in the back. I was seated immediately and almost all of the tables were full. This is a very casual place. The menus were on the table, and a server came quickly to take my order. I ordered a cappuccino and a puff pastry with spinach and goat cheese. Both were good and exactly what I needed for a bit of energy. I asked for the pastry to be heated, and it was slightly warm (still cold in the middle). My only critique is that I wish the pastry had been a bit hotter. A steady stream of people arrived and departed while I was there so this seems to be a popular place. I would visit again and look forward to trying one of the bartolillo (traditional to Madrid).

The pastries were great. I tried the Roscon which was fresh and airy. Not overly sweet either. We had a short wait of 10 minutes and also took some pastries to go after. Staff was veryyyyy busy and not the most attentive but otherwise friendly and helpful.
