I can't expect a lot from a chain chicken place so I'm not rating this high because it's top notch, but it for what it is, they have really good fried chicken! It's crispy on the outside and really soft n the inside and juicy! The biscuits are so soft and good!

The laughable presentation of the $3.29 skrimp basket special.

One week later: I was sitting in the parking lot of Captain D's, talking on the phone and watching the traffic when I decided that there were entirely too many people in the place. So I rolled over to Church's. This visit, the place was surprisingly busy. I ordered one of the $3.29 special shrimp baskets that were advertised on the sign out front and on TV. Horrible. I got the dregs of what they had on the steam table...about 1/4 of my shrimp was actually fried okra, and none of it was very fresh. The fries were limp and I didn't get many of those, either. The picture above shows it exactly as it was presented to me on my tray. Slung over to one side, the combo of fries, a piddling amount of shrimp, and the included (albeit unordered) fried okra barely filled half of the tiny paper basket. Seriously, $3.29 is cheap, but I didn't perceive what I got as worthy of that small sum. I could have had three McDoubles or two cheeseburgers for less than I paid for this joke of a "meal." I previously said that I would have rather paid $2 less than the fish and shrimp basket that I had on my last visit. I paid $2 less on _this_ visit, yet what I got was still worth $2 less than what I got. Maybe that's the business plan, or maybe that's a lesson in not ordering seafood in a chicken joint. Whatev.

The place is really quaint with a warm, inviting atmosphere. The menu includes a great variety of different items. The soup of the day was a green chili chicken stew that sounded too good to pass on, so I ordered that along with a side of Gouda grits and a side of sautéed green beans. The grits were delicious! The green beans were very good; and the soup was good. My wife ordered the Philly Cheesesteak with sweet potato criss-cut fries. The fries were bomb! The sandwich was okay, she was trying to figure out what was missing. On the way home she realized it was missing cheese. A cheesesteak without cheese?!?! Service was very good. Our server was attentive without being overbearing. This bistro is not cheap by any stretch, but it is good and I'm sure we'll return.

This…read morewas the fancy place in town to go to if you had a hot date, or for before you go to prom. I never made it out, though, until I moved away, got a job, and then came back to visit recently. I went out to explore downtown Milton some, checked out Blackwater State Park, and got hungry and decided to finally come check this place out for lunch. So we drove up, got a table, and started browsing the pamphlet they gave us of the history of the building. It was a quaint little read. The restaurant is in an old house that had many different lives over the course of its existence. It was wooden, comfortable, had a nice bar built into it. Very cozy and rustically upscale. The service was also very good. A nice lady that tended to all of our drink needs. Very pleasant. And the food came out in a timely fashion. As for the food, we started with the The Sampler (A mixture of our house favorites: Artichoke cheesecake, Baguette, Loaded Brussel Sprouts with Shrimp, Coconut Shrimp with Mango Chutney). This was nice. I love a good savory cheesecake, you don't see that very often. It was very interesting loading the sprouts with shrimp, but I've never said no to a shrimp. And the coconut shrimp were pretty standard. It was a good plate, but not mind-blowing, if you wanna try a different app. My main was the Creole Crawfish & Andouille Pot Pie (Louisiana Crawfish, Savory Vegetables, Andouille, Cajun Cheese Cream, Puff Pastry). This is a loose-leaf pot pie. So basically a gumbo with a puffy piece of puff pastry on top. So it's a lot of fun, but don't expect a lot of crust with each bite. Super creamy, super Cajun in the seasoning, no regrets getting this. I also got to try the The Blue Salad (Filet of Beef. Signature Assorted Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onion, Cucumber, Bleu Cheese, Balsamic Vinaigrette, Candied Pecans, Bleu Cheese Dressing). This was a good salad! Nice and tender strips of filet, funky bleu cheese, sweet and crunchy pecans. I love a nice interesting salad like this. Nothing boring involved. And a ton of that delicious dressing. Overall, the Bistro was well worth the wait. Good vibes, good food. I'd come back.

If no game, then just for the fact that service is quicker and there is usually no wait. Yesterday being New Year's Eve, the restaurant was crowded and we again went to the bar. There were two open seats, only at opposite sides, so I sat and we were going to wait for 2 open seats. I noticed a couple getting ready to leave and I told my husband to go wait behind them so we could sit and eat together. A couple came up at that time and the man said to me that they had been there long before us and the seats were his!! Mind you nobody was there prior to our arriving. I said something to the girl behind the bar ( Savanna) that we were going to move and someone was giving me grief about it. She said oh he's just kidding. After we moved, she hurried and took an extra chair over and made people move over for them (something that was NOT offered to us) and she proceeded to totally and very obviously ignored us the whole time we were there. Thank goodness for the guy who was working or we never would've got any service. We were treated horrendously by this nasty little girl, and we will be rethinking our choices in the future. Get a clue Roadhouse, that's the way you lose business, and judging by your mediocre rating so far, you should rethink your employees!!!!

I've expressed my love for Tuscan Oven in Pensacola, and I've reviewed a few pizza places located here in Milton, FL, and wanted to write a review of Hungry Howies since we've eaten our last 3 restaurant pizzas from there. I make a pretty decent pizza at home and would rather eat Tuscan Oven pizza than any other, but sometimes a person doesn't feel like cooking or driving 45 minutes for a pizza so we ordered from Hungry Howie's and were pleasantly surprised at how good they were. I really enjoy their Delux Sub and that's usually all that I order from there, but we wanted pizza and didn't want to cook and we didn't want to drive to get a pizza. It was good. All 3 times. I'll say though, that the 2nd of the 3 pizzas was ordered "well done" and it was absolutely that. Well done. The 3rd of the 3 was good, but the dough wasn't cooked completely. I put the left overs in the toaster oven and finished baking the dough and it was good pizza. Not Tuscan Oven good, but good. So now, we have 2 decent pizza places that we can go to in this area. Hungry Howie's and Marco's. Of the 2, Marcos rates a little higher, but that restaurant is a bit of a drive from here.
