I'm usually the last person to fall for the hype of international boba chains, but Chun Yang Flushing (春阳茶事) has done an outstanding job. Their teas are so good that I actually crave their lineup of teas, which I've enjoyed more in NY than I did in Asia. (#1) In fact, they're so good that I don't even mind paying the premium it costs to score a drink here. Located in the new luxury condominium in the newly renovated part of 41st Ave, I'm immediately jealous of the residents who can just come down here anytime they want. Having removed all the seating for the pandemic, the space is opened up and still fairly stylish and inviting. They've done a good job with enforcing social distancing and serving folks only with a mask to become the ultimate takeout biz. I've ordered a number of drinks here and have even ordered flavors that I don't even normally like, but I've enjoyed everything. Seriously. I think they've done an incredible job of combining fresh ingredients with the perfect ratio of tea, flavors, and toppings without it tasting overly diluted. I am awaiting the day that I hate one of their flavors, but I've enjoyed so many that I wouldn't be able to give them less than 5 stars. The ones I'd order over and over again are: matcha with red bean, cold honey osmanthus oolong, smoked plum lemonade, honey lemon oolong, and grapefruit green tea. I know folks are jazzed about brown sugar + fresh milk or the black tea cheese macchiato, but I'd order the others over these last two. It's really such a rarity to enjoy the whole spectrum of drinks. I hope they stick around for a very long time. I plan on ordering everything they serve here at some point. There was a lot of red bean in the tea - it filled about 40% of the cup! At the end there was more red bean left than anything else so keep that in mind. Will definitely be back when in the area! Bubbles themselves are bested by xingfutang who makes them fresh but that's expected. The drink itself is my go-to now. I don't drink milk tea on a regular basis, but I like my milk tea for the tea taste. Although there are so many bubble tea shops opening in Flushing, don't skip out on this one! It's located off the main road and fairly spacious inside. Hoping they will open a location in Manhattan soon because this new Taiwan tea shop is better than a lot of the big players. I already like this shop better than Yi Fang after my visit. I got two different drinks: Oolong Tea Latte with Pudding and Honey Lemon Oolong. The Oolong Tea Latte with Pudding became my immediate favorite because of the sweetness thanks to the pudding. The Honey Lemon Oolong has a distinct sour lemon flavor I really like, more of a summer drink which was quite suitable as it was in the 80s. I added grass jelly to both, fantastic add ons. Tea is fine, but not so good than the rest that I need to hear blood cursling screeching the whole time. I don't think the employees like it much either. An update to respond to the manager who says it isn't possible. It is possible. If I can do it with my old mid-tier espresso machine, you can with whatever you've got. Here's a tip: If she's screaming, your wand is in too deep Instead pull out a bit to where you get the normal 'tisch 'tisch sound, that's when you know you're doing it right. Experiment where you put the wand. If you want to just heat milk to a higher temp that's not possible without screeching? (Do note that if you start to heat milk over the amount it can be heated to, it will scald the milk) Then use the proper equipment, like a microwave. Doesnt change the flavor. If it's unsightly, figure something else out. Ask yourself, does every coffee shop sound like this? No, most of them are quiet. Even Starbucks who's slinging more milk drinks every moment than this store. They don't usually have screeching unless maybe rush hour, I give them a little leniency. Also note, I went during an off hour, most employees were just standing there, yet the place is haunted by screeching somehow. If you don't believe me. Put this in Google "how to steam milk without screeching" If you don't believe this. I will post a video of how to hit the right spot. read more

This is one of my favorite bubble tea shops in Queens! I have frequently gone to Chun Yang at least 5 times since they opened up shop. Their drinks are the most authentic in taste, the tea is freshly made, and their drinks have the best quality compared to the other shops in this area. My favorite is the Oolong Tea Latte with Pudding, which I get with 50% sugar and no ice to optimize the flavor. I also like the latte without pudding, as well as the black and green tea. I feel like you can't go wrong with whatever you choose, and I have yet to get a drink that I didn't like. I enjoy their simple yet elegant decor and the friendly service. All of the workers are super nice and treat the customers well. I like that it is located on a smaller street, and away from all the craziness of Flushing. If you drive here, they have a couple of metered spots on the street, but these are usually taken during busy times of the day. The decor and ambiance of Chun Yang Tea is quite artsy and poetry as it's name which named from a place famous for tea making in Taiwan. It's perfectly instagrammable. However, it is just another new spot for bubble tea with nothing really special and I can't tell the difference or outstanding points compared to other brands. We tried their cold brown sugar pearl with fresh milk and it wasn't good. The pearl was cooked too soft and sticky, the taste of milk was light as water with little sweet. I chuckled when I noticed the year 1869 in their logo picturing the Taiwanese of the Qing Dynasty drinking Boba tea. How would Boba even work in the 1800s with no plastic straws, cups, lids? Haha I am sure it was a different type of tea company back then. This is now, and today they are one of the premier Boba chains spreading throughout the world and with good reason. Their teas and drinks have a freshness to them where they don't use artificial flavors, powders, etc.. instead opting for fresh real milk, brewed teas, fruit juices, etc. If I didn't try anything else from Chun Yang other than their magnificent Smoked Plum Lemonade I would still give them five stars. This drink was truly addictive with a distinct smokiness, rich plum flavor and lemony citrus finish. I ordered mine with no sugar and little ice although they recommend 50% sugar to balance the "sourness" of the drink I didn't find it necessary at all. I never found a drink like this elsewhere so they have this uniqueness to set themselves apart. But even their Pudding Oolong Tea with Fresh Milk can be found similarly in many a Boba tea shop is above the herd. I did find it had more of a milky flavor than tea, but the caramel sweetness of the pudding with that fresh milk made this a truly enjoyable drink. The guy said they recommend sugar to avoid tartness, but I thought 30% was good enough for my palate. I will try for 0% sugar next time. I also got Cold Taro Sago with Fresh Milk - this was okay. Tall cup sizes so decent quantity relative to average prices that aren't less nor more expensive than other places. I've tried several items and they've never failed me.
