I am absolutely disgusted by the way I was treated by this nurse. While visiting a family member in…read morethe emergency department, I noticed that multiple patients before and after us were allowed to have two visitors accompany them. However, when it came to my family, this nurse refused to allow the same accommodation. What makes this situation even more frustrating is the blatant inconsistency. If there is a hospital policy limiting visitors, it should be enforced equally for EVERYONE, not selectively depending on who is asking. The emergency room is already an incredibly stressful and emotional environment for families. The last thing anyone should have to deal with is unnecessary hostility, unfair treatment, and a complete lack of compassion from someone working in healthcare. I have absolutely no issue following hospital policies, but I do have an issue with being treated differently when everyone around me appears to be receiving exceptions. This experience was unacceptable, extremely frustrating, and completely unprofessional. Hospital staff should be held accountable for how they communicate with and treat patients' families. I sincerely hope management addresses this inconsistency because no family should have to experience this during an already difficult time.

I had a wonderful experience today at the Silicon Valley Surgery Center. I was scheduled for a…read moretransforaminal epidural steroid injection in the lumbar region of my spine. This injection is meant to help decrease inflammation that was causing pressure on my sciatic nerve. We were warmly greeted when we arrived. I checked in at the front desk. Luckily, the day before, they emailed me a link to fill out all my paperwork. That proved to be very helpful and made the check-in process very easy and fast. The facility is very modern and large. There were quite a few people in the waiting area waiting to be called back for their procedures. The waiting area is very nice with plenty of seating. There was a big flat-screen TV for all to watch while waiting. They have a self-serve coffee area. You can choose your flavor and variety of Keurig pods and easily make yourself a nice hot coffee. My husband took advantage of that. I was called back within 15 minutes of checking in. The nurse taking care of me did a great job explaining the procedure and the order of events that were going to take place. She did an amazing job inserting my IV and kept me warm with heated blankets and a heating machine that blows warm air under the blankets. Since it was freezing in there, the warming machine felt so nice. I got to meet everyone in the surgical suite and was able to ask my Dr. questions before anesthesia was given to me. The surgeon, nurses, and technicians were all so nice and made me feel comfortable. Before I knew it, I was in recovery. The procedure was successful. They offered me juice of my choice while I was in the post-op area. The nurse removed my IV and helped me get dressed, while my husband moved the car to the patient pick-up area. This was one of the best outpatient experiences I have ever had. Everyone was so professional and friendly. They were very thorough with going over all my allergies. I'm allergic to a lot of medications, so that part is extremely important to get right. They took excellent care of me. If I need to have an out patient procedure, in the future, I would definitely choose to have it done here. I highly recommend coming here for an outpatient procedure.

My anesthesiologist was also fantastic, and of course I had a great experience with my doctor. I felt very well cared for by the clinical team. Where I think there is room for improvement is the front-office experience. The front desk came across as somewhat unprofessional and there wasn't much acknowledgment or greeting when patients arrived. Communication with the finance department was also frustrating, as I had difficulty getting calls returned. Overall, the medical care itself was wonderful and that's ultimately the most important part to me. I just wish the administrative experience matched the level of professionalism and warmth I received from the nurses, anesthesiologist, and my doctor.

All the staff, starting with the security guard at entry, and ending with the recovery room nurses, was so warm and caring. She really built rapport with me during the two office visits I had before the surgery which allowed me to feel like I was in good hands while enduring a challenging life circumstance. Even my husband, who is very picky about service, was super impressed by this operation. One of the staff told me "you're in the Ritz Carlton of hospitals" and that's truly how it felt!

Had to come here for procedure. When ever I have to get a outpatient procedure, I prefer to go…read moresomeplace other than the hospital I work. Nothing wrong with my hospital, I just prefer to keep my business separate from the nurses I work with. Having Stanford insurance has been a huge plus, I get to go to places like this. So far, every Stanford doc I've seen have been top notch. So this was my first time here and I had a great experience. They gave me plenty of instructions before, so I was totally prepared and I had all my instructions and results when I left. I had a call from both my Doc and my anesthesiologist the night before to see If I had any questions. Now my work does 30-35 surgery's a day, these guys can do up to 70 on a busy day, but talk about a well greased machine. I feel for the staff, I know what a busy OR is like, but man they were all super courteous, professional and focused on the patient. From my 15 min wait in the admitting (fast) to my 30 min stay in pre-op (fast) I was prepped, had my IV and was totally relaxed for when my doc stopped by to say hi, then the anesthesiologist and my nurse. I was in and out and next thing you know I was in the recovery. They made sure I was doing good, my nurse was attentive and very polite (Jose? I think, I'm still a bit out from anesthesia but doing great.) I was dressed and they had a special parking garage for my ride to pick me up. I can't say enough, but thank you to all the staff at Los Gatos Surgery center. Dr.Kim and Dr.Block and all my nurses.

I had surgery at this hospital earlier this year. I want to be clear that my review is not about…read morethe doctors, nurses, or the clinical care I received. The medical staff provided very good care, and the facility appeared clean, professional, and well maintained. My concern is limited to the billing and post-procedure communication process. After the procedure, I reviewed the Explanation of Benefits from my health insurer, and the amount billed to me appeared to be significantly higher than what I understood to be the insurer's indicated patient responsibility. Because billing matters can be complicated, I tried to contact the hospital to ask for clarification and to request a written review of the account. In my experience, however, the process was very difficult to navigate. The available communication appeared to rely mainly on phone calls during business hours, which was challenging for me because of my schedule. I left voicemail messages explaining the issue, and I also sent fax communications asking the hospital to review the account and respond. As of this review, I have not received a clear written response resolving the discrepancy. I later contacted my insurer to seek clarification as well. From my understanding, the balance may still be treated as unpaid or not fully resolved, although the matter remains under review. I am continuing to work with both the insurer and the hospital to understand the final amount, if any, that I actually owe. What has been frustrating is not the medical care, but the lack of a clear and accessible written communication process for a billing issue involving an insurance EOB. If the hospital disagrees with the insurer's EOB or believes additional patient responsibility applies, I would expect a clear written explanation so the patient can understand the basis for the charge and address it appropriately. Again, I appreciated the clinical care I received. However, the billing follow-up experience was stressful, time-consuming, and difficult to resolve. Prospective patients may want to confirm in advance how this hospital handles insurance billing, EOB discrepancies, written billing disputes, and communication options other than phone calls. I would also encourage prospective patients to read a range of reviews, including lower-rated reviews, before deciding where to receive care.

I am a chronic pain patient and have been his patient for almost 23 years .I have had four surgeries just in the last five years not to mention the shoulder surgery for a grade 5 slap tear I have to face in the next year and neck surgery after that and if I don't have him to do blocks on my back and shoulder in between i do not know how I will handle the pain even with pain medication .I am devastated he's leaving his practice and retiring because there's very few people who care about those of us that have chronic pain and need pain management doctors.what I love about Dr Hopkins is he fights for his patients. He takes a stand and his courage gives me courage to stand up and fight for my rights and for others. Finding another interventional pain management doctor to replace him is going to be hard but I know he will help me because that's just the kind of person he is ,he actually cares as he's a wonderful Doctor Who cares about his patients But he's a decent human being which we seem to be lacking these days . I've always listened and done exactly what he asks me to do like walking or working out even if I don't feel like it I do it anyway. I keep my weight down, I watch what I eat I know pain management does not just involve taking medicine it involves staying in shape mentally, physically, and spiritually.Thank you Dr Hopkins.
