Terrible results with the procedure that Dr.Lo provided. And then after he said that he doesn't know why it didn't work!

Yes, some early kinks in the Capitola front office as a review has mentioned. New staff, Jasmine in particular -very patient, sets lovely, calming tone. They work with me, my schedule and insurance easily. Dr. Audry Payne - professional, compassionate, innovative and encouraging! Ingrid Chegari - a miracle worker who truly cares and will put you together again no matter what! Did I mention Dr. Li? Oh, OK - 5 stars for him, too. The action figure dressed in black behind the curtain. Magic! Good luck to anyone trying to find a better pain management practice here. With the DEA tying doctors' hands at every turn, we're fortunate to have Dr. Li and staff so close. They're cutting-edge and remain enthusiastic about the business of pain management.

As others have said, Dr. Li has absolutely no bedside manner and appears to have no interest in his patients. I think he was in the room with me for 5 minutes. He asked a couple questions, which I had already answered on the intake forms. I tried to volunteer information about my multiple forms of pain. He displayed no interest and quickly stated that he couldn't help me without knowing anything about my case or reviewing any of my records. I'm on blood thinners, so he decided (again without knowing anything about my case) that he couldn't do "injections" because of the blood thinners. That's one of the first questions on their forms. I submitted information to them in advance, so I really didn't understand why they even let me come in for an appointment in the first place. He asked me if my doctors knew I was on two blood thinners. Yeah, they know, they prescribed them. He said he had never heard of that. Really? Has he never encountered a Cardiac Patient before? My Stanford Cardiologist put me on a second blood thinner, so I'm pretty sure she knew what she was doing. He told his staff to refer me back to my PCP for a recommendation for Physical Therapy or Hydro Therapy or possible Acupuncture. I don't think any of those things are going to help. It just seemed like his dismissive technique before he quickly left the room. The entire experience made me feel weird and I was in more pain leaving than I was when I got there. I was under the impression that by going there, that they would try to figure out what is causing all of my pain and maybe come up with some solutions. Apparently that's NOT what happens there. The staff is unprofessional, but sadly I've gotten a little used to that in Santa Cruz County. I overheard some patients talking to the staff and they didn't seem happy. I've worked in Hospitals in a professional capacity and worked face to face with with more than 900 physicians. In addition, I've also been receiving ongoing care from so may physicians that I've lost track. I've met some arrogant, pretentious and dismissive physicians during that time that also had no bedside manner and obviously didn't care about patients and Dr. Li ranks in the top 10 based on my experience with him yesterday. I hadn't read any Yelp reviews before my appointment and I wish I had. I recommend NEVER going there. Look for another place to treat your pain issues. I'm going to try and leave zero stars, but I doubt Yelp will let me do that. If you see one star on this review, it's really a zero.

You then get an operator who can never help you. Her job is to transfer you. You have been on hold for a 1/2hour because they claim the scheduling department does NOT have a direct line. Sometimes the operator misdirects your call thus after you sit listening to Muzak for a 2nd 1/2hour, you are redirected again so you can again listen to Muzak for a 3rd 1/2 hour. After one-and-a-half hours on hold you will be given a procedure date (many months in the future) but will not be given a time until the afternoon before. NOT able to provide a date AND time = unacceptable system!

Like others have said, there is a huge amount of paperwork to fill out ahead of time, which I don't mind if it's going to be a thorough appointment. Though the receptionist on the phone for scheduling was incredibly rude, I was pleasantly surprised that I got to see an online provider pretty quickly because my referral was marked as urgent. I saw Dr Alice Huai-Yu Li who was very nice, and who let me know personally ahead of time that she was running late which I appreciated. But she did absolutely nothing for me at the appointment, except refer me to pain psychology. It was supposed to be a long intake appointment but it was cut very short. She said they rarely get patients in my situation and she had researched injections for my type of pain but there was nothing they could do for it. I also have sensitivities to many antidepressants, which was ultimately all she wanted to prescribe for me. My referring doctors were hopeful because Stanford pain clinic is supposed to be doing all kinds of interesting procedures and treatments for pain, but I was not offered anything. The pain management class was a one time thing, and it was interesting though not much of a solution for me. I was also referred to a pain psychologist, which was really far booked out, and then they cancelled it before I ever got to go because the "provider wasn't available." So It was a disappointing experience overall and a serious waste of my time. Maybe people with other pain conditions than I have are offered better options.

Under the care of Dr. Morris, my neck pain improved tremendously. I was assigned daily homework and supplements to help with healing along with nutrition advice. He is personable and cares about his patients. He is also very attentive and listens to all my questions. He even teaches me about why something may be occurring and shows me skeletal models while doing so. Everyone in the office is nice, courteous and professional. I change into a hospital gown for each visit. There are pre and post scans of the spine to ensure all is well. The technique is very gentle, but very effective in relieving pain. I also had cold laser therapy to speed up the healing process. There is plenty of parking in the back and the office is clean. They also have a water dispenser in the waiting area.

Anthem/Blue Cross deemed that my patient responsibility was only .63 cents, so the insurance company sent a payment to Allied in the amount of $3,793.67 in December 2024 and now Allied's patient services/billing department refuses to refund my credit card for this amount. Not only did Allied keep my money, but they are also pocketing money from Anthem, which has been deemed fraudulent by Anthem and they are now engaging in an investigation into Allied. Save yourself the emotional turmoil and run arounds, and just go elsewhere. Hard lesson learned on my part. EDIT: Anthem/Blue Cross' Grievances Department just mailed the attached letter on January 10, 2025 stating that I am due a refund of $3,793.67 and my financial responsibility is $.63 cents. The continued denial by Allied that "no monies" are owed to me is baffling. This company will indeed engage in fraudulent activity.

A MERRY CHRISTMAS REVIEW!…read more Even though I'm still in the middle of my treatment and awaiting further surgery, I just wanted to stop by and give some much deserved love to Dr. Patrick Polsunas and the staff at Allied Pain & Spine in Los Gatos. Prior to my vehicle being struck by a red light runner at high speed, I was never really sick very much, and didn't have any illnesses or major injuries. Most of my life living as an athlete and personal trainer, I had no real need to see a doctor except for the regular annual check-up. But now for the first time finding my self as a partially crippled person, it's been depressing at times. So, to have a rare and wonderful doctor like Dr. Polsunas who not only goes above and beyond for his patients, but is actually extremely caring and does whatever he can to fight along side you, so that you can achieve the maximum healing that you deserve, it's a blessing. He is truly one of a kind, and I wish that he was my general doctor. Santa needs to give him a raise!
