"Just OK" food if you like paying too much . My wife and I tried out Chuck's last weekend with another couple. We had a reservation and had to adjust it due to our previous activity running longer than planned. Our original reservation was for 8:45 PM and we arrived at 8:52 pm. My wife had adjusted the reservation online to 9pm . The young man acting as host at the front , remarked "Well, I was about to cancel your reservation!" To which my wife responded " Why , 1) we are within 10 minutes of our original time and 2) I updated our reservation for 9pm , so why would you cancel?" To which he replied, " Ohhh....i see that now". No apology He then disappeared without further word to assumably find a suitable table for 4. Meanwhile the restaurant was half empty??? He came back after messing with a few tables and we were seated by the other host who appeared while the 1st host was running around. The dark room ambiance is nice alternative to mostly bright and loud options in Madison and Huntsville. The decor was eclectic including a dozen candelabra style chandeliers. Our waitress was wonderful, she did a great job taking care of us, that's the only shining part of our experience. The food was subpar for the price point .( period ) Since we were coming from a cocktail even that had run longer than planned, we were all starving . I ordered the Supreme pizza. It was a 10" pizza with good toppings, but undercooked. $25 ????? A fair price would have been $15 for what was delivered to our table. My wife ordered the Parmesan Grouper. What a mistake that was . Of course the menu doesn't list the price , it has the cute " MP " for Market Price that dishonest "Seafood" restaurants like to use so they don't have to have boards with fish prices for their customers to see. Honestly , Grouper doesn't fluctuate that much, not like Crabs or Shrimp. $43 was the price for 4 oz of overcooked grouper on a bed of undercooked, flavorless mealy substance that the restaurant claims to call risotto. Sorry , we know real Seafood from the Mid-Atlantic Coast and South Florida . This ain't seafood, it's a Ponzi scheme. Do yourself a favor and support local seafood companies and cook the fish yourself, the experience at Chuck's can't make up for small portions and overcooked entrees . We're moving on.... read more

Great food, great service, great atmosphere. First time to Chuck's and it was great. We had red snapper special and a fried shrimp dinner. Felt like we were at a great Destin restaurant the food was so fresh. Service was perfect. Our server was very attentive. Food was delivered in a short time. Everything good Would recommend reservation. Seemed to be a few seats available at bar but all tables were full at 7pm read more

Similar to Chuck's in BHM. Good food and drinks. Service was a little inconsistent, but was to be expected with a new restaurant opening. The highlight of the meal was the white chocolate bread pudding for dessert. Fantastic! read more

First time there, husband Birthday. Enjoyed the food, I had grouper, husband had tuna. The place was nice and fancy. The server was great, and was very polite. I would recommend this place, went on Sunday at 5:15 pm, got right in. The price was a little high, but to go out Fancy or celebrate something, still would go. read more

This is probably one of the worst restaurants in Madison. Me and my wife went here. 1 day she got the fish of the day. I got Pizza. The fish was stinky and nasty and overcooked. And my Pizza barely had any toppings. I left this same review about 2 and a 1 3 months ago. I got an email today from a moderator from Yelp, saying that this just does not sound like chuck's fish, so we're removing the. Review I've been trying to leave reviews for Yelp, but have not been having any luck. So I hope people see this and understand that Yelp is not out here to give you honest reviews. They're out here to collect a check from restaurants. So that They can get paid to take down bad reviews.Yelp reviews is a scam and they're liars read more

Came here a couple of days ago to have dinner by myself. They were pretty packed since it was a Friday night. I sat at the sushi bar which was nice getting to watch the kitchen prepare the food. The ambiance is nice but the noise is pretty loud in the place. Staff is extremely friendly and my server was nice and helpful. I ordered the gumbo as a starter. It was good but was a little bit too salty for my liking. I did like the big chunks of fish in the gumbo but wished there was more shrimp. For the entree I opted for the snapper and had it prepared sautéd with seasonal veggies and risotto. This was a great meal. The fish cooked perfectly and there was plenty of fish. I ate everything on my plate, it was so delicious. I will definitely order this again and will come back to try their other dishes. read more

The service was good. The atmosphere was good as well. The reason I gave it a 3 is my grill red snapper was the driest dish I have ever had. I think I nearly choked twice. I couldn't even finish it. I probably won't be back. But to be fair, I noticed people enjoying their food. I did not. read more

The service was good but the food was even better. The drinks were strong but tasty. Would definitely go back!

The ambiance and atmosphere was great. Lovely and cozy. The service was good as well. Now the food my wife had was great. She got the chicken scaloppine and it was really tasty. I ordered the ribeye steak cooked medium and part of the steak was rare and I wasn'table to eat it all. I informedthe server and they just brushed it off. I was a little disappointed because of the steak but I had to tell myself that this is not a steak house. Next time I will just get the fish which is the reason I went to this restaurant. read more

this place so much if I could give it 10 stars I would the atmosphere is wonderful. The food is fantastic. The service is great.

i am not a fish person so don't know about the menu. They get a 5 star for serving a free Thanksgiving meal to the public. It was excellent and fast service and nice people. read more

This is not my first time here, but this was the worst experience I have ever had. It began with my drink order coming out wrong, then our apps were held up while we sat and watched our one app sitting on the counter for about 15 minutes. We then ordered our meals and the meal came out 5 minutes after receiving our appetizers. Then our waiter came over and told me he was going to show me how to eat my snapper throats after I was already eating them and proceeded to put gloves on and rip apart my appetizer. We must have had our meals for about 15 minutes and our waiter kept buzzing around the table wanting to take our plates away as soon as possible. We totally felt rushed at this point. He literally grabbed my husband's plate and he was still eating! One of our guests had asked for another beer and it never came. Total time from start to finish - an hour! When I go out I like to relax and enjoy my meal, we had out of town guests visit and I was totally embarrassed. read more

Over priced half prepared fish and with poor quality and wrong taste for type of fish. Quantity of food is small compared to what you are being charged. This place will crash and burn before you know it due to prices and quality of food. I would put Bonefish above chucks any day. Also the lighting is so low it must be to hide the under or over cooked food, not good. read more

A little surprised at the "heavy" Asian influence in the sauces and preparation of the seafood. Expected more of a Gulf Coast experience. Very noisy with no apparent attempt to soften the acoustics. Good, prompt service. read more

nice building and the food was OK, but I was turned off by the way half the staff dressed. Words that come to mind are homely, disheveled, sloppy and unprofessional, especially for a nicer place like Chucks Fish. I've been to several other Chucks Fish and the staff was dressed professional and it fit the atmosphere of the restaurant. I mean, are you working at Chuck's or a Walmart out in the country? read more

very best ever food and place to eat worth the hour drive will go back soon today was second time to get to eat there service was special

Everything was top-notch and the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. A little pricey, but well worth it for a special occasion. I will be back! read more

I visited for the first time a few days ago. First impression, the restaurant is beautiful and much more upscale in appearance than I had expected. At one point some very loud music came on, but was quickly turned off to my tables relief. Our server was very polite, prompt, and helpful throughout. I ordered a moscow mule and it was honestly the worst one I've had unfortunately. It wasn't undrinkable, just had no ginger flavor and seemed to have very little alcohol in it. I'm a lightweight and rarely drink, so one drink is enough to impact me and I never felt any impact. The tuna poke nachos appetizer was delicious. Loved the chips, the tuna was fresh, and the sauce was delicious. I ordered the parmesan crusted trout. It was just ok. The crust was really yummy, but the fish tasted pretty overcooked. The veggies were delicious and had great variety and flavor. The risotto though was so disappointing. I love risotto, but this was sickeningly salty, and the sauce was extremely gluey and heavy. I also think there had to be cream added (which shouldn't be in a true rissotto). The rice also was slightly undercooked. The dessert was really good though. I had the white chocolate bread pudding. My only complaint there was its pairing with thick strawberry drizzle on the entirety of the plate and a big strawberry. Bread pudding in the south is usually not something paired with strawberry's and that felt off and miss matched. I'll probably try the sushi next time I visit to see if I like that better. read more

Went with my friend for the first time I've ever eaten at this restaurant and she ordered the seafood pasta and I wish so bad I would've ordered it cause it was amazing by far one of my favorite dishes so I went to take my husband who had been out of town for a month and looked at their menu and they taken the seafood pasta off. Haven't been back since. I can't stand it when they take off food that they had on their menu at their opening. read more

Love the new restaurant, just beautiful! Great ambience, friendly staff, & amazing sushi!

Food was delicious!! I think we were the first to sit in the outdoor area back in early spring!! So beautiful!!

Go now if you like excellent fish prepared correctly. Service was great and the experience superb. They even safe tables for just walk-ins

10/10 fantastic dinner experience. My wife and I made reservations through Resy and were immediately shown to our table. It was a seamless entry and a sign of things to come. Our server, Leah, was simply amazing. She knew the menu forwards and backwards and made spot-on suggestions without trying to upsell anything. I cannot stand when a server recommends merely the most expensive thing on the menu! We started with cocktails that were very well made. I like bourbon, so I got an old fashioned. It was the perfect blend of the simple ingredients. My wife got the "French 75" and was very pleased with her drink. For appetizers, I got the snapper throats, and my wife got an Alaskan Roll. This was the first time she had had sushi, so I was delighted that she enjoyed it. The snapper throats were just the perfect size for an appetizer and were delicious. We both got the Parmesan-crusted Grouper for our entrée. It was delicious with a perfect amount of parmesan that did not overpower the taste of the grouper. The risotto and vegetables that came as sides were tasty too. I have to praise Leah again. She was perfectly attentive. She didn't hover over us; she was pretty busy with a full section, but always showed up just when we needed something. We wanted to get a bottle of wine with our entrées, and Leah made the perfect suggestion of what to get. Again, she didn't try to sell the most expensive bottle on the list, but she knew what would go well with our food and made that recommendation. Having grown up in Fort Walton and Pensacola and working in a seafood restaurant as a kid, I was spoiled with excellent fresh seafood all the time. Chuck's Fish has brought that to Madison. We can't wait to go back!! read more
