    Grilled Redfish
    Scott T.

Another night another venture out to dinner with my coworker. This time the quest was for fish so off to Chuck's Fish! We fought the traffic amazing how traveling just 4.5 miles from your hotel takes well over 25 minutes. Huntsville has definitely exploded. We loved the decor and high ceilings very cool. As someone else mentioned in a review very cool to see the bar, sushi area and the cooking taking place in plain sight. We got there at 6:00 and by the time we left the place was crowded. Our server was great. She knew the menu and gave us great advice. My coworker ordered a rosemary old fashioned and I went with a local amber beer. For dinner, I opted for the grilled redfish over rice pilaf which comes with a creamy peppercorn sauce. My coworker went for the red snapper with artichoke hearts. We enjoyed the dishes. My fish was seasoned nicely and the rich cream sauce made me feel guilty but boy was it good. I thought both our portions were sizable. I was surprised that the redfish was $38... but like we all know everything has gone up! We both were stuffed and had no room for dessert. But we will be back next trip to try something else!

Red snapper throats and kimchi brussels sprouts

My wife and I really enjoyed our dinner. As we often do in a new place, we had a couple of appetizers and a couple of entrées with the full intention of carrying food home. We had to try the snapper throats and the kimchi Brussels. Both were excellent. She opted for the red snapper with artichoke hearts, and I had the chorizo and shrimp rigatoni. We could've fed both of us on either entrée but brought food home instead. The menu is quite large, so I see this becoming a common date night destination. I wouldn't normally include this in a restaurant review, but the restrooms are remarkably small given the size of the venue. Given the popularity, I recommend reservations. We made them and were seated upon arrival.

This place is AMAZING!! We can't wait to visit again soon! Pricing is also reasonable especially with quality of food/service!! We ordered snapper throat for appetizer and smoked tuna dip both were so good!! I didn't get pics of dinner plates but I did get one of an appetizer. The ambiance reminds me of New Orleans style and it's beautiful! I can't say enough about this place! I definitely recommend this place!!!

A sweet note for the occasion!

Wonderful atmosphere, super friendly and knowledgeable staff! Fiance and I came for a little anniversary dinner and Chuck's did not disappoint - Jason was our server, he was right about everything he recommended, so ask for him if you can. Can't wait to go back!

Loved the atmosphere and loved the food. I spend a lot of time in Florida and the Grouper Piccata was amazing. Wonderful flavor, but I vote for the rice. The potatoes are great, but rice is a better pairing. We sat outside for a family birthday. Wonderful menu and attentive helpful service. I highly recommend it. My one complaint is the 2-3% Cliff Farm development fee, but that isn't their fault. Why exactly are we paying this? Definitely give them a try. You won't regret it.

Another win for Madison--with a few disclaimers. I first attempted to visit Chuck's Fish a couple of weeks ago with my daughter, but we were turned away due to their internal practice of hosting a "friends and family night." Since our names weren't on the list, we had to make other plans and ended up at Stoney Grill, where we had a five-star experience. Fast forward to tonight--my daughter wanted seafood, and despite my initial hesitation (I didn't want seafood tonight), we decided to give Chuck's another shot. I'm glad we did. The restaurant has a cozy and unique atmosphere. The lighting is somewhat dim, and the walls are a bit cluttered with abstract art, giving it some distinct character. One of the highlights is the story of Chuck and his connection to some of our state's most pivotal civil rights moments--you can read about it on the menu when you visit. Chuck is or was a good man, even if we was an attorney. Now, on to the food. My daughter, who is notoriously picky, loved the Seafood Gumbo--so much so that she had two servings. Then she moved on to sushi. Then grouper. Every dish got top marks from her. As for me, I opted for pizza, which turned out to be phenomenal. Just a note: the "hot" in the Hot Homey Pizza description refers to heated honey, not spiciness--a great touch. Service started off slow after we were seated, testing my patience a bit. But once our server arrived, she was attentive and on top of things, making up for the wait. Normally, I like to give a place a few visits before reviewing, but this was an easy five stars in spite of the wait. Just keep in mind--Chuck's Fish isn't the place to come if you're in a hurry, and it's probably not ideal if you're watching your budget the day before payday. But if you're looking for great seafood in Madison, this spot is definitely worth a visit. I expect the service will only get better from here.

Pizza was okay, I did like the hot honey topping on top of the Pizza. My husband loved his Yellowedge Grouper and the rice pilaf and vegetable medley that came with it. Service was great. It is one big open place with plenty of space for large groups and plenty of bar seating.

One of my favorite restaurants. Always fresh and presented well. Not a chain with great specials.

This spot is a local staple for me whenever I'm in town. The fish is fresh from the Gulf, and the service always feels top-notch. The vibe is relaxed but slightly elevated--definitely one of the best seafood spots in Huntsville. The red snapper throat is consistently a standout: crispy, tender, and just plain special. Our party also had the Parmesan-crusted grouper, cooked perfectly. We also tried the triple fin with lemon and butter, and I couldn't resist the crab-stuffed shrimp--so good. The service really makes the experience, and it's consistently worth every visit.

4.5/5 stars. Would highly recommend getting reservations, even though the space is large it gets busy especially on weekends. Upscale, seafood restaurant, with fresh options and weekly specials. Diverse menu with anything from fish entrees - sushi - pizzas and steak. Appetizers: $24 for poke nachos, can get them for less else where, however they were a fairly large portion with fresh tuna. Just not worth the $24 to me. Entrees: stuffed grouper special, served with jalapeño cheddar grits and asparagus. Very delicious buttery and served with a grilled lemon! Husband ordered the artichoke red snapper with risotto. I must say the risotto was better than the grits! Just ooey gooey perfection. Once again buttery flaky fish with the perfect sides. Topped with sautéed artichoke hearts. They have secret menu items, mainly sushi, (be sure to ask about them, because our waitress didn't inform everyone)! Upscale restaurant, fresh seafood, lovely decor and ambiance. A little crowded but a lot of dining space to choose from. Overall, lovely seafood addition to Huntsville that we so desperately needed. Can't wait to come back and try other menu items because there's a lot to choose from

My friends and I arrived Sunday around 5:30 pm, party of 3, no wait. The atmosphere upscale, with an eclectic classy type of vibe. Our waiter Dillon was very good. I had the Grouper Piccata, my friends ordered Sushi. They were both excellent. .

I have to begin this review with AMBIANCE it was so beautiful ( reminds me of Bravo) The lighting and interior touches create a space of love for your whole family or significant other. The service was good. We were kindly seated and served promptly with respect. A few at our table ordered cocktails to begin. The margarita was served in a tall glass ( i prefer short) and was wayy too sour as if the fresh made sour had gone bad lime went bitter. The old fashioned was made well and Cabernet ( Daou) was superb. Entrees were made well but nothing on the menu peaked my interest. I do think the menu needs revision.

Our server, Alana, was wonderful -- attentive and made the whole visit feel special. We kicked things off with the peach bellini carafe ($20), which was a fantastic start. For food, we ordered the skillet ($18) and the steak & eggs ($24), both of which were excellent. Great flavors, great portions, and a really solid brunch overall. On top of all that, it wasn't expensive either -- really solid value for the quality. Can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. Highly recommend if you're looking for a new brunch spot!

Cheyenne was our server and she did a good job! She was friendly, professional and knowledgeable! Cheyenne brought us complimentary biscuits and butter (or maybe another type of sauce) that my Sisters said were delicious! They were extra fluffy and baked correctly. We three shared the Steak Egg Rolls that were actually really good, very creamy and rich, and unique. I did not try the sauce/sauces that came with them. They were served at the correct temperature and a nice, rich appetizer that I would recommend! Sister #1 ordered the "Stoney River Breakfast Skillet" which was attractively plated in a skillet and appeared to be the correct temperature and her eggs were cooked to her liking. She was off put by the cheddar cheese that topped the skillet off - it looked very artificial (meaning bright orange yellow) and as if, instead of cheese, the egg yolks were sort of sitting atop the skillet. She's not a huge complainer and she finished the skillet. Sister #2 ordered the shrimp and grits, described as "...Cajun sauteed shrimp, Worcestershire cream reduction, bacon, cheese grits." The plate looked nice; however she said the shrimp were "beyond rubbery and more of the texture of shoe leather." I kept encouraging her to send it back and order something else and she said she said she was "hungry and it is edible." She did say the grits were excellent. Sister #1 and I tasted the sauce of the shrimp and grits and both of us found it very "tomato flavor forward and oddly sweet." Christine's lunch was a disappointment. Also, she should have sent the dish back, in my opinion, I'm sure Stoney River would have made it right. I got the small filet, I think it was seven ounces, cooked medium rare with asparagus. You get one side with this dish which is fine. The steak, once again, was cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly with no need to add any salt/pepper and it was nicely seared! The steak was delicious! We had wine, which was good, too! We did not get dessert and were offered more "biscuits" to go (which seemed odd to me, it was like 2:30 in a very hot afternoon and I wasn't interested in carting biscuits around in a hot car); however, it was a thoughtful gesture. Last comment I have is no fault of Stoney River's, it's a "Clift Farms" thing, at least the Development Fee is Clift Farms specific, I don't know the "wine tax" fee. I really dislike fees. My $200.00+ bill included a three percent "development fee" of $5.58, a "Wine Tax" of $4.18 (I've never seen that before, what is a wine tax?) and regular "Sales Tax" of $6.36. Thank you for the friendly professional service and the extremely clean, comfortable in-person restaurant dining experience!

There is limited seating space, so plan to take it to go or have it delivered with either grub hub or door dash. Hush puppies are smaller than what I would expect, but you get 4 as a small. Medium is 8, and large is 16. Upgrade to at least an 8, because they will be gone too quickly and you will wish you had more. Flavor is good, a little on the salty side but that is a plus for people who love salt. Tartar sauce tastes freshly made, but has a hint of spicy sweet pickles (not dill, unless it is a mix of both). One odd mix is it comes with a slice of white loaf bread (not homemade nor is it toasted with butter, which is almost what I would expect with a fish plate). It was separated from the baked beans with parchment paper, so the bread did not get messy nor moist - but I would like to see this elevated to something else. The baked beans are basic baked beans. Not much flavor, so if you like blandish beans they are ok. I will skip the baked beans next time and try a different side item. The catfish is the main feature in this dish. It is fried with a seasoned batter, this is probably where the salt comes from in the hush puppies. The fish goes well with the tartar sauce, but I ran out of that with the first fillet (so get at least two tarter sauces). There are portions of the fish with more seasoned fried batter than fish. One plus side for those with kids is I did not run across any bones. I think next time I will try their bbq baked potato, double down on the jalapeño hush puppies and order before they cook too many catfish fillets. I think 4/5 is a fair rating. It is not "catfish cabin" from my childhood, but nothing ever is. It did satisfy a catfish craving, and for those who want catfish - it is at least is a decent option.

Definitely a hidden gem!…read more My husband was out of town last week and so I decided I'd go somewhere I'd wanted to try that was out of the way to treat myself and help pass the time without him. I reviewed my bookmarks and settled on Barrio! This restaurant is located near the ever-popular Valentina's pizza -- I believe it shares a building with the first location of the pizza place before they moved a little up the road. Otherwise, it's sort of "out there" -- though I'd argue it's very much worth a special trip. The parking lot is a little small but it's also a fairly intimate restaurant so you won't be fighting insane crowds anyway. It felt clean and modern inside and the restaurant boasts a nice long bar. I was offered my choice of seat; I took a booth since they weren't super busy (it was a Tuesday evening). My server was Cameron. He was very sweet and worked hard at being attentive and helpful. My food came out promptly with each order and was prepared as I'd requested. No complaints there! The menu here is more authentic and more upscale than many Texmex options in the area. This makes me happy because I prefer Mexican cuisine served this way. I felt a little bad for the servers, though, as they had to field several questions from parties about matters of cheese dip, what mole is, etc. They cheerfully and patiently provided great education, but I hope in writing this I can save them some trouble in the future, lol. You should absolutely give Barrio a try, but Little Rosie's it is not (nor should it be)! Anyway, rant over...Cameron brought out some chips and both salsa rojo and verde. This was maybe the only thing I didn't particularly care for all night. Neither salsa had a ton of flavor or heat to my palate, and the chips were fried a little heavily/dark for me. I was concerned after this but I shouldn't have been because my entree and dessert were both delightful. I ordered the enchiladas suizas, which comes with rice and beans. The rice was fluffy and light. The beans were a beautiful dark black color and subtly smoky, nice and smooth but not too much so. And my enchiladas... Okay, a thing about me is that I always think I'll love enchiladas (who doesn't love a soft and creamy, cheesy, warm meal?) but EVERY TIME I order them they disappoint me. I've FINALLY found a place where they were all I'd hoped they'd be. The chicken inside was tender and succulent but not mushy; the tomatillo sauce was bright and flavorful; the cheese added the perfect amount of gooeyness...really, really good. Thoroughly redeemed, I also placed an order for churros. I requested they be packaged to go as I was sure I wouldn't eat them all in one sitting. Cameron obliged and brought out the dessert in two separate containers (one for churros, one for ice cream). I appreciated his thoughtfulness, though I wound up eating the ice cream and some churros there because I didn't want it to melt. The ice cream was delectable -- honestly, it tasted like homemade vanilla to me but whatever they use, it's awesome -- and the warm, cinnamon-covered and caramelly churros were the perfect companion. I ate three there and took three home for later. So good! This restaurant has many offerings I've rarely seen throughout Huntsville (read: especially chicken mole -- hard to find!). They seem to really care about the food and execute it on a high level. Please give them a try when you get a chance. I'll definitely return in the future.
