Snow maki- jam packed into a container

We decided to get takeout from here. Got the chicken hibachi and a Snow Maki roll. First off, the role was very tightly jammed into this small container. The rice was hard and not fresh and there was way more rice than fish. It's almost like this roll was premade and had been sitting in the fridge all day. The hibachi chicken was very plain, flavor was a 4/10. Still received everything we ordered in a timely manner. Not for us though.

Some of the best sushi I've had. The fish was fresh, and the rice was seasoned perfectly. The rolls were made with care, and each bite was packed with flavor. The miso soup on the side was a nice touch.

My family and I give this restaurant 4 stars. The server (Kyleigh) was amazing and did an excellent job. She always had a smile and willing to serve. Not to mention our cook who put on a great show. He even got the table to sing Happy Birthday for my son. My kids had options to choose from and got plenty of food. My wife and I had got the more expensive choice of steak, scallops, and shrimp. The meal filled us up and took some home. The restaurant had great vibes. The two reasons we subtracted a star are below. 1. Women's bathroom stunk of sewage. 2. No military discount.

Dinner at the teppanyaki table. Local neighborhood place. Fun show. Great service but mostly average food. Had the steak and lobster combo.

    Salmon Lunch Box

The first thing that I noticed when I walked into the door to Sakura was the distancing of the tables. Then I noticed that all of the employees were wearing masks. With the resurgence of Covid, I've again become a little edgy about safety and Sakura's precautions put me at ease. Like the majority of the lunch patrons, my friend and I opted not to do hibachi and did table service instead. The lunch menu offered several teriyakis and tempuras. There was also an extensive sushi menu of which we didn't partake. We both opted for salmon teriyaki and were not disappointed - well, except for the salad. The salad was the prerequisite iceberg lettuce but the lettuce was literally floating in watered down ginger dressing. Luckily for us, this was the only real downpoint of our meal. The presentation of the lunch box was a little messy - like someone was in a hurry to get it out of the kitchen. It consisted of the salmon served over sautéed onions with a touch of broccoli, fried rice (though next time I'll opt for steamed), 4 pieces of California roll and some cute little dumplings. There also was a large orange slice on top of a little swirl of peel that really was a nice touch. The salmon was excellent, with the sauce a little carmalized around the edges. The rest of the meal was nothing out of the ordinary but really, the salmon was so good it made up for it. Surprisingly, the orange was extra juicy and sweet and made an excellent dessert (my friend ALWAYS orders dessert and the orange turned out to be enough of a dessert even for her). Service was passable - the wait staff consisted of one overworked girl who was also hostessing and running to-go orders all while answering the phone. It's no wonder the service wasn't really what we expected but she did the best she could. There also was a sushi chef and a hibachi chef but they were busy doing their own thing and couldn't lend her a hand. Although most of the meal and the service were just there, the salmon was so good that I definitely will be back.

The mild flavors tickled my palate after my wasabi dive! 5/5 Black bean noodles, aka Jjajangmyeon was delicious. My only complaint was it didn't taste quite as good as the first time I ate them at Four Leaves. They were saltier this time but not so salty I couldn't eat them. The staff was nice and timely in responding and checking on the table. The tiger roll was really good! Love a good roll with shrimp tempura and eel sauce. The fire mountain was okay but not my favorite. I didn't expect the salmon to be cold maybe the picture was deceiving and I don't read the description well. The red fish was okay. Lightly breaded not really seasoned in my opinion but cooked almost perfectly. It was a pretty display how they batter and fry the skeleton but the sauce that came with it compensated for the lack is seasoning on the fish. General Tso's chicken never disappoints. Classic Chinese dish over sticky rice was really good and the broccoli was steamed to a great texture. Overall good experience here. Never had a bad meal or service from this place.

The exterior alone is adorable! A traditional Japanese building with little figurines and even a large Totoro in the garden. It felt whimsical and nostalgic. I was seated right away and the staff were incredibly kind and attentive, checking in without being intrusive. The owner even stopped by each table to make sure everything was perfect but didn't linger too long. I started with the takoyaki, and it was one of the best I've ever had. Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and the octopus was tender. The sauce and bonito flakes were just the right amount. For my entree, I ordered the curry chicken katsu lunch special, which comes with a soup or salad. I chose the miso soup since it was cold out and it was absolutely the right choice. The katsu was perfectly crispy and paired beautifully with the rich Japanese curry. I especially loved the big pieces of mushrooms and onions in the curry. Before heading out, I ordered a lychee green tea with boba and lychee jelly to go. The boba was perfect and didn't get tough sitting in the cold drink like some places. 10/10 would go back and would recommend to anyone who is looking for an authentic and fun Japanese restaurant.

Upon driving up to the restaurant, it looked like one of those traditional Japanese tea houses. It had Totoro outside with an umbrella, which fit the rainy day that was happening. Inside has a Studio Ghibli theme. Gentle piano music from the movies play in the background, and it has a homey, comforting feel to it. The server was so kind in helping me decide what to get because I haven't been in the area before. Looking at the prices, it was extremely reasonable, especially with the quality of food I got in return. After much consideration and asking for suggestions, I ended up getting the grape green tea, their black tonkotsu ramen, and their strawberry crepe cake. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The noodles were the perfect amount of richness and flavor. The noodles were bouncy, chewy, and the perfect compliment to the pork bone soup, which was salty and smooth. The green grape green tea was floral and a refreshing contrast to the hot soup and noodles. The strawberry crepe was a great finale to an already great meal! It had layers of rich creme in between each thin crepe layer. It created a symphony for the mouth as the texture and flavor was out of this world. My expectations were blown out of the water for sure. If I lived nearby, I would be a frequent visitor to this incredible establishment. They have earned their 5/5 star review.

The beef bulgogi that I cooked was okay... I've had better elsewhere, but maybe that's because I'm not a very good cook and may have grilled it too long. The lemon chicken was also ok, but I probably cooked too long and I only ate a couple of pieces because server warned me I should use scissors to cut chicken to make sure it gets cooked enough inside, and, well... I got to feeling anxious about if I was undercooking or overcooking it, so I gave up. The salad was meh, and I didn't like the look of the cucumbers (they looked brownish, not fresh) so left them untouched. At first, I thought the restaurant itself looked nice... but then I noticed that the tables and floors were not the cleanest, and walking back to the restrooms, I passed a kitchen or prep area that had several puddles of water on the floor. It did not help me feel comfortable. It's a large restaurant, but there were only a few patrons inside during the height of rush hour. I should have been more observant before I sat down. Overall, I really wanted to like the place and a positive is that the Korean music videos on the TVs were very enjoyable, but unfortunately once I got to feeling "ick", I just couldn't shake that feeling. Once again, that's probably more a reflection upon me as someone who does not enjoy cooking, even at home, so please take this review with a grain of salt. Your experience may indeed be much better than mine, especially if you possess a more open and adventurous cooking spirit :)

To be honest, I usually have very low expectations of "hotel restaurants," but I will say Banana Leaves exceeded those. If I were staying at a hotel and this was my option for dining, I wouldn't be mad. However, I also don't think this would be my first choice for an Asian-influenced dining experience. They have dishes from a lot of different Asian countries on the menu, though I'd say it leans most heavily Thai or Malaysian, with room for Japanese sushi. The menu isn't overwhelmingly large but it is quite varied. It was fairly quiet when I visited in the middle of the day on March 4. A few other diners trickled in while I ate. Service was suuuuper sweet. Kind, respectful, and diligent. I did go a little while between finishing my meal and getting a check, but I think she was trying to be respectful of me finishing up my food. I wasn't finishing it because I didn't really care for it, but that wasn't my waitress' fault. She even brought out a few small pieces of fruit for dessert as well as a box for my meal. Very thoughtful. I decided to order one of their lunch specials as that was the most cost effective option. I selected the Thai Basil Chicken. It comes with white rice, a salad, a spring roll, and a cup of soup. I also got a Thai iced tea to drink because I can never resist those. The Thai tea was very pretty. It was not particularly sweet and had a fairly strong almost vanilla-like flavor. I do prefer mine on the sweeter side personally, but it wasn't bad. I was warned that the Thai Basil chicken would be spicy but I really didn't find it spicy at all except when I ate an actual piece of chili. Then, it was pleasantly warming but nothing crazy. The vegetables still had a nice snap but for me I thought the chicken was rubbery and I really didn't like the texture of it. I mostly ate veggies and rolled my nicely cooked white rice around in the sauce. Disappointed in the chicken. The spring roll was fine -- exactly as you'd expect. I didn't realize there was a small divot in the dish that held the sweet and sour dipping sauce until it was basically too late. Oh well. The salad was plain but I enjoyed the typical Japanese style gingery dressing. I was somewhat pleasantly surprised to see the soup was a wonton soup. That was nice and I enjoyed trying it though I ultimately found the wontons to be rather bland. Idk, 3 stars sounds a little harsh but 4 is too generous. I think that the idea is really there but just a few too things missed the mark for me on the execution level. If I were to return, I'd like to try some of their Malaysian dishes, as there aren't a ton of places around Huntsville that serves that cuisine. I appreciate the kind and polite service and calm atmosphere.
