Chuck E Gumball Plushie
James A.

For a company that has been around since 1977, Chuck E Cheese does a nice job of staying relevant to their main demographic: kids between 4 and 12 and of course their parents. I remember from my youth (growing up in Chicago, Showbiz Pizza was the place), wanting to go there..and of course it became a staple when my daughter was younger (birthday parties, especially). I do remember their remaking of their food, gearing it towards parents as well. A lot of memories (fond and some not so much...a lot based on how busy it was). Haven't been back for at least 10 years (and honestly thought I never would considering Covid and the viability of a place like this staying open where you WILL catch something if there is a sick child). But we were in town for a birthday, so took our nieces and nephews (aged 7, 4, 1) to Chuck E Cheese for lunch. Much of it is how we remembered: one entrance where you are given a UV light stamp across the kids and adults (to not allow kids to get separated when leaving). You then place an order for food (if you want) and 'tokens', where the best deal is to combine the two. My daughter found a great deal on-line where you could get 1,000 bonus tickets if you purchase an hourly plan for $33. The two older girls are at that age where they want to stay together, but also want their own cards. So we purchased two 1 hour unlimited (they already had the wristbands from a previous visit). We also got a large pizza (no toppings since couldn't find any topping that everybody liked) for $21.99. You are given a pager, which went off after 10 minutes, at which point you can pick up. There is a self-service soda fountain, which allows you to get complementary filtered water. The pizza is OK, thinner crust. One hour was the right amount of time for the girls. One is allowed to pause it ONE time via the self-service kiosk, to eat lunch. We think there is a 10 second or so delay between each valid scan so you COULD only have one card and still be able to have two kids play at the same time. But sharing is not the most common trait between sisters at that age, so glad that we got two. The mix of games was pretty good, good for young ages but also a lot that a 10 year old would enjoy. it wasn't too crowded so no kids were waiting...if a game was busy, they would just move to a new one. The card automatically stops working after the period (though it didn't happen at the exact same time, so that was an interesting conversation to explain 'Why/'). We then went up to the prize center, and then realized how valuable the 1,000 point bonus that we had gotten was. Basically even after an hour of playing, the oldest one only added 200 points to the card (the younger one only 80 points). After combining the points (and adding $3), they were able to get identical Chuck E Cheese gumball plushies. It's actually pretty good quality, and we named them Chuck E and his brother Carlos. So when we were ready to leave the building, we all got together and the attendant made sure we all had the same stamp. Hoping it won't be another 10 years before we are back!

Cheetos Mac n Cheese Pizza

Staff are nice, food is ok, drink area kinda gets dirty. Cheetos Mac n Cheese Pizza - throw Mac N Cheese on a pizza, bake it, and you get baked Mac N Cheese Pizza. Then toss some Cheetos on it and you have Cheetos Mac n Cheese Pizza. It's decent not great, the Cheetos are great, but really just get a bag of Cheetos lol. If you let the pizza sit, the Cheetos get stale fyi. Staff are nice here, I appreciate that. The drink area has tons of spills, probably kids, but the counter and floor seems to be constantly wet, not the most pleasant place to be. Rest of the area seems pretty decently clean over all.

I really don't understand why it's so hard to deliver friendly customer service at a place where kids come to be happy And why it's so hard to deliver quality food ! Ridiculous that as a parent I have to keep up with this TWO locations have already been disappointing! It's absurd Just be friendly and happy to work at Chuck E. Cheese If not, get a new job ! The cashier was rude to begin with and then my sons food is burnt

Plenty of ticket prizes

Chuck E. Cheese has come a long way from when I was a kid. No more scary robots with a broken eye and no more dingy carpet that smells like urine. This particular Chuck E. Cheese is completely renovated and larger than the previous location. Right when you walk in, you'll notice that the place is bright and clean. There is plenty of room for kids to run around without feeling overly crowded. The games are in great condition despite how rough the little ones can be. Even the food is noticeably different - the pizza was surprisingly better than I thought it would be. I can see why their $5.99 lunch buffet would do well. To save yourself the trouble, just go ahead and put in a larger bill for tokens. Even though each game is only one token, your kid will run through them quick. By doing so, you also get a better deal by buying more tokens up front. You just can't help but play alongside your child in skee ball. Make sure to check out the life size Operation game and Terminator Salvation shooter and finish the playtime with Dippin Dots. Chuck E. Cheese is still a great place for a kid to be a kid.

Pros: All the games and machines were .25, so it took us 1 hour to go through $5.00, very quiet during midday, it is run down, but the staff is working hard to keep it clean Cons: Don't eat there, it is too expensive, could be considered "dirty," but it is cheap!

Rock-afire Explosion animatronics band in 80s.

Barrington, Illinois Been going many years & now grandkids. They love it, always old favorites & some new surprises. I really miss the Rock-afire Explosion animatronics. Great sound, fun show no matter what age. Many characters when started out, everything moved. Chuck E. interacted with kids. We followed every location that still had them. Now human one comes out waves & disappears at all locations. Wait line was a lot better last time, even when crowded. More relaxing. Kids' favorite place. Everything usually working, easy to find fast help with problem. Bathrooms are super clean. Only one line, one person takes ticket and food orders. Tickets confusing so one person takes forever to pay. Line was out door, never did eat. When someone just doesn't get the way it works, like 15 mins repetition someone else should take them aside, a manager maybe. Getting a much needed wine is impossible. Once you finally pay & given receipt, you then have to wait again for special person of legal age to just hand it to you..back in line with food/tickets for only person. Other locations have at least one of each. Again maybe manager could hand these over. Or just unlock after pay so we can grab our own. I said at some other play places person handing out food also can sell tickets & hand wine while waiting for food to cook.

Not a cheap spot to host a party or special celebration, but this is one of the spots I'd choose to…read morehost because of the total offering here. That is, this spot has an enormous amount of parking, is located near tons of other food and shopping experiences people can visit beforehand, there is everything from bowling to arcade to laser tag available, and the food selection is a bit better than going for the cheaper venues. One of the differentiators for me is the quality of the arcade games -- that is these are high quality, newer, and larger than what you'll see at most venues -- with the next closest comparison being more upscale bowling alleys. These are well maintained and having all of these available in a single venue is convenient for a memorable event experience. Also, having a wide variety of different food and activity options helps to provide larger groups with a variety of things to do, many picture experiences, and the flexibility of different people arriving at different times, as there is more than enough staff to accommodate a surge of attendees.

Our party was at the bowling lanes. The lanes are available per hour. While bowling our group ordered some food. The food was standard for a bowling alley. Not great but not the worst. The entire time we were there were very loud announcements for birthday parties that were going on. After bowling, we went and played in the arcade. The prices were incredibly high. For a loud and unruly atmosphere, I will not be returning to Main Event Hoffman Estates!

There's plenty of bowling balls to choose from, and on a Tuesday night, there was a decent crowd. Actually, it was a decent crowd for any night TBH. On Tuesdays after 8, you can bowl all you want from 8PM-11PM for just $10 per person. A pretty good deal, if you ask this cheap bastard. Shoe rentals go for only $3 so I'm definitely a fan of the price. I got the velcro laceless shoes. It brought me back to when I was a wee old lad. Bowling was a good time. Although the scoreboard was rather old, it served its purpose. While newer scoreboards have fancy animation in between frames and such, these scoreboards show the score, and in between frames, advice on how to get that spare or maximize on pin knockage. That's all I really need. No need to be taunted by the scoreboard after this Gutterball McGee goes for three in a row. My highest score out of the five games we played was an 87 ha. But it was good time. Everything for us worked great, although the lane right next to us did freeze in between a frame, and pressing the "reset" button on the side of the ball return track didn't get it back.... on track. Get it? OK drop the mic. BATHROOM REVIEW: Bathrooms located near the arcade area, the mens bathroom consisted of a couple of stalls and urinals. It smelled like an old bathroom that needed to be cleaned.... 3 years ago. There was only one sink and the water pressure was low. At least the soap dispenser worked. Sit or squat? Squat for sure.

I got a lemon and service has been like pulling teeth…read more.. I've been struggling with my Houdini pinball machine since it arrived. First it was a calibration problem, and let me tell you it wasn't consistent. Then the sensors weren't sensing the catapult area and balls were getting trapped. Then the system didn't know that all of the balls were accounted for and acted like there was one on the playing field. The last one has been a bloody nightmare because the service team has basically ignored me and merely expect me to take the hand I was dealt -- trust me, a $7,000 paperweight is NOT what I purchased. Since I have received the Houdini pinball, I have not been able to get the Master Magician mode to work properly -- the game will reboot and crash the game if I get that level. The programmers intentionally program every game to be difficult to get to this level, hoping to release a code update to fix it. However, their popularity in the pin-market has them releasing another machine and that has become their top priority. Service has gone a full 30-days without notifying me of their progress. I am expected to continue to be patient while I cannot play the game as advertised. Service has acknowledged that they never expected someone to change the changeable settings to get to the revered level faster and thus I manage to reboot every single time. My experience in this matter has been that American Pinball is still in its infancy in both quality working pinballs AND customer service. Hindsight being 20/20, I would have been better off with a used Theatre of Magic pinball IMHO. Search the web. There are lots of articles about internal problems with this company and the suggestions that they will not live up to their promises...

I was worried that it was going to be poorly run like the Sandbox VR in Oakbrook. We have never been to that one but the reviews are horrible. There is plenty of parking available. The building is small so they can only allow one group at a time. There are different games you can choose from, ranging from 15 mins to 45 mins. I believe the price is $44 on a weekday and $49 on the weekend. We did the Space Marine one. That one was about $49 but you can get 15% if you book online. The promotion is limited though. You can also walk in but I recommend booking online especially on a weekend. The staff is very friendly. Don't worry, they clean the equipment after each session. There is also one restroom. They have hooks to hang your coats and belongings. The game itself is very fun. They have alerts to notify you when you're too close to someone in your party. The guns are easy to use. The headsets are comfortable. The volume could be a bit louder but it told me I had reached the max. It was very interactive, so it was worth the price. I wouldn't mind coming back and bringing more people.

We tried a 1/4 hamburger with everything (lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo), a 8" personal pizza with pepperoni, and an order of onion rings. I also snagged a slice of their gluten-free Hawaiian pizza and the crust was undetectably gluten-free! The hamburger was good--reminiscent of spending a summer evening at a carnival if that makes sense? The pizza looked small, but was very flavorful and filling. The pepperoni ratio was spot on. The onion rings were light, crispy, and had the perfect amount of salt. The pricing was great, my burger was $4.99, the personal pizza was $6 + $0.75 for the pepperoni, and1/2 lb of onion rings was about $6z Our server, Dylan, was so sweet and did an amazing job serving the entire section of bingo players! She kept my Diet Coke pretty full while taking care of everybody. The parking was ample and well lit. Google Maps tried to have me drive in circles to park so just use your eyes and your brain and it's not difficult to find. The noise level was average, I believe, for that type of venue and the perhaps regulars were very tolerant of having to listen to most of Taylor Swift's 200+ song catalog until someone got bingo. I didn't use the bathroom, but my boyfriend did, and he reports it is clean. Overall, it was a really fun Thursday night and I look forward to coming back for more fun events!
