They no longer have chicken fried steak with sausage gravey which was the only reason we ever go there. The items of their new Mediterranean menu were sparse and extremely dry, especially the rice which was so dry it was crunchy. Baked chicken was extremely dry, just sitting out too long. No street tacos, as advertised. Kettle Roasted Turkey was almost empty & extremely salty, and not refilled during the 2 hours we were there. Salad bars were still wonderful but not all items were refilled. Desserts are very ordinary, nothing special. Dinner rolls were still wonderful, but scones were dry and too hard to even eat! Most labels on food items were missing. Way too expensive for what it offers. We won't go back! read more

You will definitely get a lot of bang for your buck here! To start, each day of the week is a different theme: Mexican, Asian, Italian. On Friday, it's seafood day. They still have a standard base menu that they offer everyday, but each day has something a bit different which is fun. There's a little bit of everything, but I wish the selection of meats was a bit more robust. It was seafood night, so lots of fried shrimp, breaded cod, and one option of baked salmon. For other meats there was only chicken and a turkey roast. They also had fries and pizza, so a little bit of everything for everyone. Everything tasted great and was well seasoned. There's an extensive salad bar, featuring different types of veggies, toppings, and dressings. The dessert options are also extensive: cakes, cookies, rice krispy treats, ice creams. I tried a little bit of the different cakes they offered and they weren't anything special. They have various house made items, but again, these cakes weren't anything to rave about. Tasted like your standard box mix. The chocolate cake was the best out of the three (Vanilla, Carrot, Chocolate). There isn't traditional table side service, but there is wait staff present to collect used dishes. Their online website is also very informative if you have any questions. I had a good experience, but still deciding if I would revisit or if once to try was enough for me. I do think you should try it at least once. read more

For my son's 15th birthday yesterday, we let him pick any restaurant that he wanted to go to. Being a growing boy with a healthy appetite, he really likes Chuck A Rama-and he eats his money's worth! So that's what he picked. We are frequent visitors to this chain and have our favorite food items. Everything we like was fully stocked and cooked as expected. Food is good, selection of drinks better than some other locations. But what I am mostly excited about today was how they treated us. A young man was nearby washing another table and overheard us talking about the fact that it was my son's birthday. He excitedly came over and wished him a happy birthday and asked if he would mind being embarrassed. (I appreciate that he asked first-not everyone wants public celebration.) After receiving permission, this young man disappeared for several minutes and returned with a cohort of well-wishers, along with a customized birthday treat. Any mama will understand that when someone is kind to her children, it touches a special place in our hearts. The inside can be a bit dirty and even though the servers are friendly some of them don't know how to do their job. But it's pretty simple to clean tables of used plates, and ask patrons if they want a refill on their drinks. My guests were asked but I was not... once! If a staff member is reading this please do your job! You never know who's paying the tip. Our server last night had the potential to earn a 20 dollar tip, but because of neglecting my drink and not doing your job by yourself (not asking patrons to pass used plates to you) you missed out! Bad service = NO TIP! The food was delicious and the deserts have improved since the last time I was here 1+ years ago. Today it was a late lunch on Thursday which equals Mexican food day ... not my favorite but there are always options as I had an extremely tasty piece of fried chicken a super fresh salad and my all time favorite warm rice pudding. The place is clean, serving areas spotless, food fresh and desserts plentiful ... Pricing is very affordable so yes I highly recommend Chuck-A-Rama and thankful they survived the covid shutdown. read more

Decent and cheap buffet. Great for dinner or lunch. They change their theme everyday. The day I went was Mexican so there was a buffet of burritos and enchiladas as well as make your own tacos. Soft and hard shell. There was also a decent selection of other food. Mashed potatoes, Mac and Cheese, a few types of chicken, meatloaf, ribs and a bunch more. They also have a large salad bar. You pay before you sit down and they have booths and tables. It gets pretty busy during the "rush" hours. read more

As a visitor to Utah, we found Chuck-a-rama buffett. The prices were reasonable - $10.99 per person, it included food and a beverage bar. The offered a good variety of meat including chicken, tri-tip, and a pretty good beef stew. They also offer a variety of breads and side dishes, a huge beverage bar including slushes, and dessert bar. The food was good for it being a buffett. My roommate and I have been on a buffet kick. Last week it was Sweet Tomatoes, this week it was Chuck-a-Rama. She told me how much she likes it, especially since your drink is inluded in the $10.99 charge for buffet, and what makes it even better is that they have Apple Beer on tap. If the drink had something other than "beer" in the title, I don't think as many people would crave it so much. Perhaps some Mormons just want to feel like they're being bad by drinking "beer," even though it's essentially the same thing as martinelli's, just not for the city folk. Hmm... Anyway, the environment is really interesting. We went at around 6:00 and the line was already really long to get a table. And what is with the senior population here? Holy crap, those guys come out in full force for a buffet. And I thought that most old people didn't eat that much. I found a wide variety of people at this joint. I'll just list the ones that stood out the most to me: - The girl with stenciled eyebrows wearing a tshirt that read "Los Angeles" in calligrapy. She was with her baby daddy. They kept reaching across the table over their turkey and gravy to kiss every freaking minute. - Again, the mass amount of old people! We were surrounded! At first I thought that we were placed in a section catered to old people, but I guess not because I had to sit by that chick mentioned above. - The family of 6, all kids under the age of 5, wanting to eat everything at every "station" but only eating a fraction of a plate's worth. I don't want this to come across as derogatory toward old people. I love old people. They're great. My grandmother's old. My mom's going to be there soon enough; and yes, even I will eventually get there. But by the time I got to that buffet line, I was freaking ravenous. I didn't want to be held up by indecisive old people who couldn't choose between the fried shrimp and the popcorn shrimp. It's a buffet! Get both! Actually - it's a buffet, don't get either. I don't trust seafood at a buffet. It reminds me of the movie Drop Dead Gorgeous (those who have viewed the movie know what I'm talking about). Overall, the food was decent. The choices for salad toppings was poor - they didn't even have cucumbers. The meat was decent. Unfortunately, that's one of the main reasons we came here. Sweet Tomatoes is a soup and salad buffet, and this place has a lot of meat, so we were looking forward to that. I was a little disappointed, but I guess I should hold too high of a standard for a place called "Chuck-a-Rama". I mean really. The dessert bar didn't look very appetizing, so I stuck with three rice krispies treats. Not too shabby - wow, I'm easy to please when it comes to sweets. The thing that I really like about Chuck-a-Rama were the french rolls. So good, so moist..mmm... I can't say I'm itching to come back.
