As a resident of California, I had heard of the wonder that is Chuck-A-Rama. But nothing could have prepared me for the dining experience I just embarked upon. To begin, the water - exquisite. Ice, like no other grazed my lips as I sipped the cold hydrogen and oxygen concoction they stirred up in that fine home-style kitchen of theirs. Little did I know, this was just cleansing my pallet for some of the most delectable plates of chuck wagon cooking this side of the Atlantic. On top of that, it was Italian night. The Fredo, as I like to call it, was divine. The Olive Garden is right next door, but don't even bother. Take a gondola trip right through Venice at the pasta bar. The salad was fresh and crisp and delivered a punch of spice suitable for my advanced tastes in fresh greens. I asked to speak to a manger to see if there was a garden out back, she assured me there was not. Finally, on this quest for elegant and top-notch cuisine, I made my way gallantly towards the dish of the night - jello-rama. Green, like the rolling hills of Ireland, the gelatin sparkled and shimmered under the hot lights of the food cart. It was as ready for me, as I was for it. The flubbery substance danced as the waitress wheeled it over the cracks in the tile, it wanted to tango, I obliged. With a swift grasp it was finally mine. I b-lined it back to my table as I could wait no longer. I sat and I pondered, "I'm quite full" I thought to myself. This was a buffet after all. But I knew I had to partake of what it was I came for. "Jiggle jiggle"- it whispered, beckoning to be eaten. I pressed the fleshy dessert to my tongue. "So moist.", escaped from under my breath. Yes we are eating green jello and carrot salad with marshmallows! When in Rome... Basic buffet. Very busy, which is great when there are trays of food sitting out. Friendly a staff was hustling out new trays of everything. Fried chicken wasn't bad. Hot scones with cinnamon butter was pretty amazing. Standard comfort food. Kids loved the fries, pizza, mac n cheese and corn. Desserts were plentiful. For the price it was totally worth it and the kids had a good time and would like to return. read more

Last Friday me and my sons went out to eat when my son couldn't stop screaming and by the way he has autism and after that this man came up to us screaming and us pointing at my son saying to shut my son up because he's starting get him annoyed. And then he told me do you even understand what I'm saying I am Mexican after I told him that my son has autism he just looked shocked and he didn't even say sorry and just stepped away without saying nothing. After that we told our waiter and she told the manager to come but when the manager came it looked like he didn't even care what happened never coming to this place again the manager should've done something. Recently ate at the Murray Chuck-a-Rama primarily for their wonderful salad bar. In my opinion, one of the best salad bars in town, especially for the money. Once inside, I discovered it was Mexica day and couldn't pass up their delicious chicken enchiladas and "make your own" tacos. Now, we're not taking high-priced, pretentious, gourmet food, here, but everything was delicious. Being "seniors," we were more than happy about our tasty meal, especially for about $11.50, each. When you consider that drinks and a great dessert selection is included with your meal, what's not to like. We'll be back time and time again! read more

YELPERS I ALMOST GOT KICKED OUT BC OF YOU. Do it all for Yelp they say! Apparently you can't take pictures here but the staff will wait until you're done taking some to yell at you. Great. The meal was fine but I'll get to that later. As I'm trying to take pictures a waiter came up to me and told me he was going to kick me out if I took another picture. I advised him that I wasn't aware I was breaking some sort of picture rule. I can respect an establishment and their rules but I honestly didn't know and I don't think I should've been yelled at. The waiter said to me-" I've watched you take a few pictures here and it's not allowed. So I asked him why he didn't stop me after the first 3 pictures were shot and his only reply was " I was trying to be nice." Well if you're going to be " nice" then don't yell at me in front of everyone. It would've been very easy to pull me aside. What's funny is I told him I was just taking pictures for Yelp and he should join for fun sake and he says in a rude tone " what the hell is Yelp?" Lol. As a huge yelper I was disappointment. I laughed it off. Now for food. I like it. The fried and grilled chicken is FANTASTIC. Juicy, tender and big. The best buffet chicken I've ever had. They have a variety of chicken, soups, salads and desserts. Home style is good! Be sure to check their website bc everyday they have a different main dish they serve and Saturdays are Italian day. Their lasagna was good, stuffed shells were cheesy and gooey and the garlic bread was fabulous. Staff- other than the one that yelled at me, everyone else was okay. My waitress refilled my drinks without me having to hunt her down in a busy crowd and she made small talk about her favorite desserts here. Her name is Alvin and she's a cutie. Dessert bar- better than golden coral and better than any Asian buffet I've been to in Utah. They have everything ranging from cobblers, fudge, different assortments of cake and pudding. They have different flavors of ice cream and all kinds of rolls and scones. Your sweet tooth will be satisfied. I kind of want to come back just so I can take a bunch of more pictures and run around yelling "IM JUST DOING THIS FOR YELP!!!!!!" There's not a lot to be said here that hasn't already been covered. But if I may, I'd like to offer a suggestion. Seeing as how our local government has no problem regulating what tax paying adults are legally allowed to put into their bodies, why not take it a step further and mandate restaurants like Chuck-A-Rama to have scales installed at the entrance and exit? And instead of "all you can eat", they will legally be obligated to change their moniker to "how much did you eat???" Now I'm no stranger to gluttony, I do have the ability to consume massive amounts of food in one sitting. Take this last Sunday for example. I found myself at Chuck-A-Rama sitting in my booth with my first plate of food, a salad. However, this particular salad was very large, mountainous in shape, with an occasional vegetable avalanche occurring resulting in garbanzo beans and carrot shreds falling off my plate and onto the table. Not but a moment later the salad was gone. I knew that I had just had a full dinner salad and felt perfectly content. So why didn't I just stop there? Because the "all you can eat" thing messes with my head. I know that there's a big room full of food waiting for me just a short 4 second walk away and I'm not going to have to pay any more for it. So onto plate #2: turkey breast, steamed carrots, and some broccoli with cheese. I'm still not in physical pain yet so lets do #3: roast beef, mash potatoes and gravy, and turkey stuffing. I probably shouldn't but that beef stroganoff looked tasty. #4: beef stroganoff, a baked potato with some chili, and a slab of ham. At this point the damage is done, right? #5: Fried Chicken, mac n cheese, and some yams. Not only am I now barely able to walk in a straight line but I'll never be able to look at Africa on a map again without hanging my head in shame. Haven't been to chuck a Rama since the visit where I posted my 4 star review. Unfortunately our most recent visit was a less than wonderful. The overall quality and selection has declined a great deal. The cheesecake was frozen. Literally frozen. All the beef based dishes & the beef on the carving station very very fatty. On the bright side The service was very good and our server was on top of things. Overall it was very much on par with the average casino buffet in Wendover. read more

I've been getting a lot of hype about this place. So after 6 months, I decided to give it a try. Here goes: the place was crowded; as you'd have to expect for buffet spot. There was more selection at the Salad Bar than there was food. This place reminded me of Ponderosa. Same taste and similar set up. The fried donut (I think that's what is was-as many items were not labeled). That was so so good. The pizza slice was very doughy and took away from that experience. Their freshly made rolls were very good. The fried chicken was okay; a little greasy, and no wings to select. The sausage and peppers were okay. As usually with this, you'd expect Italian sausage of some sort, not here, it was a kebolsa kind of taste. The deserts were good. The bread pudding, the ice cream, the brownie were . The corn bread was another good item on the menu. The roast was also well cooked; I had a couple of slices. I normally don't due buffets as many of the ones I've been to outside of Vegas all taste the same. I haven't been wowed yet; outside of Vegas.
