Chicken Momo, Lamb Saag, Aloo Paratha, Daal Makhani

Lovely space with friendly attentive service and delicious seemingly home cooked fare. We really enjoyed the saag lamb (greens with chunks of lamb meat), chicken momos (Nepalese dumplings which were quite flavorful and herbaceous with a nice sauce), and aloo paratha (potato stuffed whole wheat bread). The daal makhani was a bit tasteless and needed salt and more flavor. It was fine when we added salt but we would skip this one next time.

It's a solid Indian option but I think I just haven't found the item that I really love here yet. The veggie platter is a great deal but the samosa just didn't seems so fresh, I found on the tough side. The takeout portion for the curry seems small for $15. For those of us that don't love cheese, what's the best vegetarian item here?

We have been to Bombay House a few times, so decided to try nearby Gurkhas instead. Glad we did - it was excellent! It's much less crowded and has a very tranquil atmosphere. Started with veggie momos - the Nepalese dumplings. Delicious - especially the turmeric laden sauce that it comes with. Had the chicken tikka masala and dal makhani for our entrées. Both outstanding. Garlic naan was light and flaky - nicely done. Decent beer list, but the wine list definitely needs some work! Haha.

This is a very good choice to satisfy your next Indian food craving. The service was great. The food was amazing and the restaurant was clean! I got the tikki masala with medium spice, and it was pretty spicy!

Came here randomly because it was on the way to REI, and I'm so glad that we did. During lunch there is a buffet with a pretty decent amount of offerings for vegetarians and meat eaters. On the vegetarian side, there were three different types of rice, stir fried noodles, saag paneer, aloo kerau, vegetable coconut karma, naan, fried naan, mixed pakora and mixed lentils on top of a small salad bar. On meat side, there was the goat, butter chicken and tandoori chicken. That's a lot of food. We also ordered onion bhaji, vegetable pakora, yellow dhal soup, and aloo bhindi with garlic naan. Yes there were a lot of containers to bring home. Out of the buffet, I recommend all three of the meat dishes. They were tender and delicious. I loved the mixed lentil and the aloo kerau for the vegetarian dishes. The onion bhaji and vegetable pakora were great, fried perfectly. The aloo bhindi was okay. We have had better at other places but still decent. The Daal soup was fabolous, very flavorful! Definitely would recommend.

I ordered through their online ordering system, which was a little clunky, but it got the job done. I thought the food was delicious. The portion sizes were great, the flavors were excellent, and the pick up experience was hassle free. The interior was dimly lit and seemed quite cozy. As I was picking the food up, I made a mental note to be sure to eat in next time. My biggest complaint was the spice level was too mild for me. I ordered medium spice level, but couldn't really taste any spice. I have found Indian and Thai restaurants vary greatly with their spice levels, so I will just remember to order it spicier next time. Overall, I really enjoyed Gurkhas, and will be relying on this place for my Indian cravings going forward.

Really loved Gurkhas! The parking isn't the easiest since it shares the lot with the strip mall, but overall not terrible. We loved the decor and atmosphere being very peaceful. The onion bhaji appetizer came out hot and was a generous portion. My only complain would be the green sauce (I assume mint chutney) was bland. Our entrees though we're fabulous. They came out extremely hot and fresh. The chicken for both were so juicy and tender. The butter chicken is the best we have had in Salt Lake City so far. The naan..... wow wow and wow. Again so hot and fresh, thin and crispy but also fluffy. Really blew us away. Service was good, they kept our waters full and were very nice.

Definitely a good place to visit for lunch. Dinner might be different, but lunch is nice and quiet with a choice of a few unique dishes.

My boyfriend ordered the goat curry, and this is hilarious because he's always said he "doesn't like Indian food." Well... that changed fast. Extremely generous portions and even more lamb than what I had expected to come for that price. The service was so friendly and sweet. There was a live music when we came, and they were pretty good. The place is huge and very bright. It appears from the buffet that they might have a buffet lunch, but I'm not sure about that. We had the rasmalai for dessert. It took a couple of bites for our taste buds to adjust to the strange taste and texture. But we ate the whole thing. It is spiced with cardamom, which is supposed to be good for your stomach after a meal like this. Oh, and the heat level. We ordered no heat in the butter lamb, so it just had a hint of spice. I ordered a three out of five on the lamb biryani, and it made my face sweat, but it was so delicious. The raita served with it cut the heat somewhat. I would absolutely come back here and try something different as well.

First they give you a basket of what I believe is papadam, a lentil cracker, with three different sauces. One was mint based, one was a tamarind based sauce and the other was raita which is a yogurt based sauce. It was awesome! The mint sauce was my favorite by far but all their sauces were good. My wife ordered the tomato soup and it blew both of us away! It was really phenomenal. Such an amazing flavor. Complex in a way yet still a very comforting tomato soup. I got the 14 Peaks Special Chicken Curry. I ordered medium because I wanted my wife to be able to try some. Medium was too hot for her and a little less hot than I like, but it did have a noticeable spiciness that I enjoyed. I had originally planned to order the Chicken Saag and I sort of wish I had done that. I liked what I got but I really love Saag. Now I have to go back so that I can try their Saag. There are no losers here. My wife got the Chicken Sekuwa Shadako, this is on the appetizer menu. No worries, this fills the bill as a main dish just fine, lots of food. The server initially tried talking her down from that dish, but then relented saying they could do it. The concern was that this dish might take a longer time to cook. We were there at about 3pm, which I know is not prime time in the restaurant industry, so I got it. The end result was worth it! That dish was delicious! Perfectly cooked chicken with an amazing assortment of herbs and spices and some peanuts and cashews that my wife really appreciated. The flavors popped, hard! Overall service was great, the flavors were amazing and I have a new favorite for Indian / Nepalese food. So happy we had a chance to experience The 14 Peaks!

I was hoping for something more in line with other Indian places I've been that have chicken tikka masala, but most of what we saw here were bowls. It's a fast casual concept-you can either order at the counter and watch your meal be assembled in front of you or order at the large screen inside the entrance. Ordering at the counter seemed to be much faster-which is what my mom and sister did. I used the screen to order and waited about ten minutes after they had their food for mine to be ready. My mom, sister and I each got different bowls and found them to be ok. I was a little disappointed at the ratio of chicken to rice-there was so much rice! The flavor was good, although a touch too spicy for my liking. All in all, I think it might be a great place if the menu is what you like. I might return and try something different.
