Meat lovers lunch special

Got this place as a recommendation from a tour guide. It was a perfect spot for lunch. Had a nice cold Kingfisher beer and the meat lovers lunch special. It came with lamb vindaloo, butter chicken, vegetable pakoras with mint chutney, vegetable curry, rice and naan. Everything was delicious. The lamb was so tender and flavorful. Service was great and quick.

Soft and delicious Naan!

Fantastic first meal here tonight before a show downtown. The decor was beautiful and the service was great!! I had a lovely glass of Shiraz and my husband had a Dr. Pepper. We shared the Vegetable Pakoras as our appetizer and the Nepali Dal Bhat (vegetarian) as our meal. It also came with a side of naan that tasted freshly baked!! Everything was delicious!! All of the spices, flavors and aromas were spot on!! We even got pistachio ice cream for dessert!! Can't wait to dine here again!!

Food and service on point, excellent service Surprised by quality and definitely comparable to other major Indian restaurants from Atlanta and New York

Traditional Nepali Goat Curry Himalayan Momos

I enjoyed my lunch at Himalayan kitchen. We were seated immediately and we ordered garlic naan, momos with bison and traditional Nepali goat curry (spicy). Everything was tasty and reasonably priced though it did take them a while (20-30 min) to bring us our food. I have a very high spice tolerance and I thought the spicy level goat curry was very nicely spiced. The decor and staff were nice. If you're looking for some tasty Indian/nepalese food in SLC, look no further.

Dal Daal Aloo Ko Soup

Himalayan Kitchen is my go to Indian/Nepali restaurant. So many vegetarian options for my spouse and I can enjoy all the meaty goodness. We ordered the onion bhaji for appetizer and dal aloo ko soup. For the main dish, the wifey had the aloo bhindi and I had the goat curry as well has the Kathmandu tandoori. The goat curry was delicious, so tender. I have had tough goat at places but never here. I like the prawn best in the tandoori so probably will order that by itself next time. The aloo bhindi was tasty as usual. The only fail was the soup which did not have any lentils like the description. Would totally give it a 4.5 but this place is better than 4 star so decided to give it a boost. They also won Best Momo and Best Biryani on City Weekly for 2023. Highly recommend.

After a week eating fairly bland food, Imwe were yearning for some tasty spicy Indian food and we definitely found it here at The Himalayan Kitchen. Located downtown Salt Lake City and very close to our hotel we ambled fish there with great anticipation. We were not disappointed. The dishes were perfect. We had some tasty pakoras to start with a nice cold Himalayan beer and the had Chicken Curry and Butter Chicken. Both dishes were so flavorful with just the right amount of spices. Our taste buds were restored. The staff were efficient knowledgeable and very helpful. The restaurant exudes Indian Himalayan flair especially with many local people eating there also. Always a great sign to see the diversity of customers. So glad we found this spot.

Service is very friendly. The dining area is comfortable albeit a bit worn out. Lunch buffet was good, but not exceptional. I ate at Saffron Valley the other day for lunch and it was so much better.

Lamb Vindaloo

The chicken korma was the best thing at medium heat! The lamb vindaloo was a different sweet flavor that I didn't love. But the Norma had big pieces of chicken and every bite had flavor. Relatively inexpensive. Really tasty. The naan was all good. We got garlic and plain and some with lamb cooked inside it and it tasted like a yummy bread omelette! Great kind service, escpecially as we took a long time to decide. Always filled up our waters.

My boyfriend ordered the goat curry, and this is hilarious because he's always said he "doesn't like Indian food." Well... that changed fast. One bite in and he was looking at me like, "Why haven't we been eating this all along?" Everything tasted fresh, authentic, and comforting. So happy we found this spot!

Extremely generous portions and even more lamb than what I had expected to come for that price. The service was so friendly and sweet. There was a live music when we came, and they were pretty good. The place is huge and very bright. It appears from the buffet that they might have a buffet lunch, but I'm not sure about that. We had the rasmalai for dessert. It took a couple of bites for our taste buds to adjust to the strange taste and texture. But we ate the whole thing. It is spiced with cardamom, which is supposed to be good for your stomach after a meal like this. Oh, and the heat level. We ordered no heat in the butter lamb, so it just had a hint of spice. I ordered a three out of five on the lamb biryani, and it made my face sweat, but it was so delicious. The raita served with it cut the heat somewhat. I would absolutely come back here and try something different as well.

This is a really amazing Nepalese / Indian option in the Salt Lake Area. Everything my wife and I…read morehad was excellent. First they give you a basket of what I believe is papadam, a lentil cracker, with three different sauces. One was mint based, one was a tamarind based sauce and the other was raita which is a yogurt based sauce. It was awesome! The mint sauce was my favorite by far but all their sauces were good. My wife ordered the tomato soup and it blew both of us away! It was really phenomenal. Such an amazing flavor. Complex in a way yet still a very comforting tomato soup. I got the 14 Peaks Special Chicken Curry. I ordered medium because I wanted my wife to be able to try some. Medium was too hot for her and a little less hot than I like, but it did have a noticeable spiciness that I enjoyed. I had originally planned to order the Chicken Saag and I sort of wish I had done that. I liked what I got but I really love Saag. Now I have to go back so that I can try their Saag. There are no losers here. My wife got the Chicken Sekuwa Shadako, this is on the appetizer menu. No worries, this fills the bill as a main dish just fine, lots of food. The server initially tried talking her down from that dish, but then relented saying they could do it. The concern was that this dish might take a longer time to cook. We were there at about 3pm, which I know is not prime time in the restaurant industry, so I got it. The end result was worth it! That dish was delicious! Perfectly cooked chicken with an amazing assortment of herbs and spices and some peanuts and cashews that my wife really appreciated. The flavors popped, hard! Overall service was great, the flavors were amazing and I have a new favorite for Indian / Nepalese food. So happy we had a chance to experience The 14 Peaks!
