Really loved this place. The staff are incredibly courteous and attentive. The atmosphere was nice and the food was top tier. We got the paneer masala and paneer matar along with an order of garlic naan and the gluten free naan. The naan itself was less pillowy than what I've experienced in the past, a little more crispy, but still good. My wife is gluten free and I tried a piece of hers, and it was just about as good as the regular wheat naan. All in all this place is lovely and I can't wait to come back! read more

Five star food! We got the paneer coconut karma, paneer masala, naan, and gluten free naan. It was all amazing. The serving sizes for the rice is a little small for the size of the curry and they charge for extra rice, so that was an inconvenience. The curries were delicious, perfectly made. The paneer was smaller which was fine because they were perfect bite sizes. The gluten free naan was outstanding. I could tell it wasn't regular naan because it wasn't pillowy and soft, but my family said the naan here was a bit more dense than other places, so maybe there was even less of a difference between them. We will likely be back for the delicious food, but maybe we'll order the curries for carry out and make our own Indian rice at home. read more

I was recommended to come here by a friend and was excited to find an Indian restaurant in Bountiful, but was left a little unsure about this spot. I ordered the paneer tikka masala and garlic naan. I review restaurants with my OAT method: O= Overall experience - I ordered takeout, so that removes the dining in experience. A= Appearance - The ratio of curry to rice was not equal. However, most Indian restaurants are off so I'll cut them some slack. I will say I prefer a greater curry to rice ratio because I can just make more rice at home with my leftovers. Royal India had way more rice to curry (this may have just been takeout, not sure about dining in). T= Taste - I chose mild spice level and honestly could have had it spicier. I just chose to play it safe. I asked for extra paneer because I'm a huge fan (which cost $3 extra) and I think I may have actually been good with the amount given. The curry had 2 huge slices of tomatoes which was a big no for me! I love the thick cut of onions and peppers but, not tomatoes. The garlic naan is huge! Which is great for the curry but, I did not like the texture of this naan. It didn't seem very fresh because it was hard to pull apart and wasn't doughy. read more

ordered online for pickup, staff is always nice, no problem with them at all. however their portions for to go were so crappy. have ordered with them in the past and has always been super good price for how much you get. I understand inflation, but seriously $19 for a butter chicken and another $19 for the chicken tikka Marsala. Portions were barely enough for me and my mom. Very disappointed with our experience. Some of the tastiest and most filling Indian food around. The chicken tikka masala and butter chicken are close in flavor, with the butter chicken being a little more mellow. First time trying batura (fried bread) and loved it! The naan is also very soft and buttery, just now I like it. The servers were very attentive and maybe some of the most polite that I've encountered. They also didn't hesitate to keep extra rice coming. I love the quaint, hometown feel of the restaurant. I grew up on Royal India, and if you ask me, they have the very best chicken/shrimp coconut korma you ever dreamed of! Other dishes I've had there--saag, lassi, samosas, pakora, different flavors of naan--are very good too. The food tends to run on the spicy side, so I always go for mild. The restaurant itself is fantastic--tapestries, fans, drapes, and mood music. I've never been to India so I don't know how it compares, but it definitely doesn't feel like Main Street, Bountiful. I would give five stars except I don't always have a good experience with the staff. The first time I came the manager was super rude--the last time I came the waitress was very sweet--and in between I have had all kinds of different experiences across the service spectrum. read more

My wife and I wanted to get some butter chicken and, since we're newer to the area, we thought we'd try Royal India and see what we thought. The food was tasty. I wouldn't say it was like a "real" or "typical" Indian restaurant, in that the flavors were slightly different and the rice was a different texture than what we are used to eating in Indian restaurants. Honestly, the dish reminded us more of a Brazilian-style stroganoff than butter chicken (or a cross between the two). Yummy though, even if it wasn't quite what we were expecting. We've eaten here several times but have always eaten take out! We finally ate inside the restaurant and it was delicious, as usual. All of their curries are so good! And the naan is awesome too. So good! After a not so good experience at another local Indian place, I was hesitant. But I was craving Indian, so I gave it a try. I was not disappointed! The chicken vindaloo was a nice blend of spice and flavor. Not too spicy (I got medium) but enough flavor to last. I had left overs for lunch the next day. The garlic naan was perfection! After chewy, disappointing naan from another restaurant, I was impressed with the amount of crunch and softness in this. I did have to brush my teeth twice after eating it, though. So remember that before you dive in. Haha. It doesn't taste overly garlicky, but the flavor lingers. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. This will be my go to Indian place. I've been going to Royal India for 17 years and feel my family and friends helped keep it afloat the first year. Their chicken tikka Masala is the best I've had in Utah, and their butter chicken is excellent. Unfortunately Royal India appears to have cut costs and that affected the quality of food. Their rice was the best and now it is a different grain and doesn't not have the same aromatic flavor as before. They give paper napkins and a fork with no knife. I'm not sure if their dishes, too, have been affected, but once they changed their famous rice and made some other cuts, I'm disappointed in the direction. Royal India has very good food. It's not my favorite Indian place, but it's in my top 3. It's the gf's family's favorite, so there we go to Royal India! Tonight we had samosas (DELISH), chicken saag (good), aloo gobi (very good), lamb Rogan Josh (didn't have any as I don't love lamb), and chicken Madras (good but I like chicken tikka masala more). One thing I love about Indian food is that they bring everything out in small bowls and it seems like it will never be enough food, but everyone eats and there is still enough for leftovers! The flavors are unique and delicious and you wonder why you don't have it more often. Service was great, and I don't think there is any better Indian in Davis County than Royal India. read more

It's not THE best Indian cuisine ever, but it IS the best one in the area that I know of. Service is always pretty good for us. Options are good. I always get butter chicken and buttered naan. My husband gets chicken tikka masala. They use quality meats and everything has a good flavor. Pay close attention to window signs to find this restaurant. So great. The servers are amazing... although there is this one older lady that, I asked "what's your favorite naan" a type of bread they have. And she explained every one of them and never answered my question. And it's not the first time that she's given more information then needed or wanted. The place and atmosphere is so nice. I love it the dim lights are so great it gives the place a good look. Also love that I don't see there dirty trays. The owner is also very nice, I'm happy this place is still open. read more

Quite possibly the best restaurant in Bountiful. Don't be fooled by the "authentic" Italian, Mexican, or Chinese establishments that are popular in the area. Your best option in Bountiful is Royal India. The lamb saag is my favorite in the state, hands down. read more
