Great 1960s diner food! Quick and attentive service. Haven't eaten there since before the COVID-19 restrictions were in effect because the outdoor dining provided during the pandemic was in an enclosed space for awhile. A lot of the customers were regulars and didn't seem to be worried about living up to the diner's name! Just really good and nicely-plated food that reminded me of what i used to order on the way home from school in the sixties, with some healthier items and also "Mexican food" options. Worst service ive ever had. Was not greeted when we walked in, coffee was cold and was not given any cream. This is a great little diner. Seriously under-rated/under-appreciated in Visalia. Maybe because it's buried in a near-dead strip mall on Mooney? Either way, it's a great place with casual and yummy comfort food. The burgers are the best and I believe it's because of what the other reviewers mention - the fresh baked buns. I haven't been to Chubby's in like a year but have been wanting to get back there for some time. today I pulled the trigger and am happy I did. when we got there the place was packed and had to actually wait for a table. never seen em this busy before! service was prompt and everyone was nice. drinks came out quick and so did the food considering how busy they were! the ultimate burger was awesome. super big but managed to eat the whole thing. I posted a pic of the thing that has mushrooms, bacon, cheese and about a half avocado in addition to the standard toppings of tomato, lettuce and onion.. all on a bun that they baked. super thick bacon. this thing is sure to satisfy anyone who is not on any kind of diet..!! so get your ass down there and drop the $9.49 at a local business who is serving up massive portions for massive appetites..! read more

Sat for 30 minutes waiting for drink refills in a restaurant containing a total of 3 occupied tables. Food came out cold and we ordered a side of sliced avocado with our meal and instead we received a whole, unsliced and unpeeled avocado, absolutely ridiculous. The waitress doesn't seem to have any idea what she is doing and has a complete lack of common sense. Would give 0 stars of possible. I used to come here all of the time but we had horrible service. Sat for 30 minutes without drinks and our food took even longer. The glass my drink came in had grime on the bottom of the glass with dirt. The sides of my glass were sticky. Our waitress seemed totally lost. I ordered linguica but was given sausage. When I brought it to her attention she said it was already input in the computer and she would have to charge me extra, for her mistake. My boyfriend order a soldier boy but was given something else, when brought to her attention she took the plate back, and came back 5 minutes later WITH THE SAME PLATE. When we left the bill was $60. We asked to look over the receipt since we both had $11 plates. She charged us for an extra breakfast and three malts. NEVER GOING BACK. read more

I eat chubby's because my friends family invites me so I don't want to be disrespectful, their burgers are bland and they have small 6 dollar milkshakes what a rip. I would never willingly walk in here for a burger , I assume it stays open because the demographic of people are mostly elderly folks that would rather pay than make their own food. My boyfriend and I decided to venture out and try something new. And boy were we happy we did. Absolutely thee best burgers in town, hands down! The decor was perfect for a diner. The waitress was pleasant, she kept up on refills and clearing the table. As for what we ordered. We started off with homemade onion rings, amaaazing!! I had my first chili burger (Great Balls of Fire) with all the trimmings and hand peeled steak fries seasoned to perfection. The burger had crispy edges OMG yummm! It was the best burger I have ever eaten. My boyfriend had a cheeseburger topped with pastrami (The Mr. Chubby) with chili fries, he is beyond impressed. Did I mention they bake their own bread? YES! It is a great 50's/60's diner with lots of burgers and sandwich options. Personally, I love their Chicken Breast Sandwich. Service and food were great, but when you walk into this one for the first time it shouldn't smell like the bathroom was backed up. I simply questioned the waitress about the smell of course she had no idea what I was talking about. The time comes to order and I look over my shoulder to see the chef cleaning with bleach and sweeping the floor never, once did he wash his hand as he started to prepare my food! I then again bring that to the attention of the waitress a second time. He denies it keeps cooking and cleaning. She then turns to him and in Spanish states "don't worry he has been complaining about the smell since he got here!" Who in their right mind would talk bad about a customer behind their back! I wish I could take away the one star I had to put. I have been to all of the Chubby's restaurants in Fresno and they are all good. But this Chubby's in Visalia doesn't live up to the Chubby's name. I came in for breakfast and ordered the Chubby's special. What a disappointment. The "grilled potatoes" were clearly cooked in a deep fryer, as were the sausage links. I couldn't believe they actually cooked the sausage links in a deep fryer. The gravy on the biscuit was watered down and flavorless, and the over medium eggs I ordered were runny. I guess if the cook had shut his trap for even a second, as he was really busy chatting up the only waitress in the place, he could have spent more time actually cooking my breakfast. And I was only the customer in the place, that should have been a BIG red flag! read more

Came to Chubby's for lunch. I've been here a few times, and their chubby's original burger is always so good, and so are the fries! They serve breakfast until two p.m. I would not say this place is spotless, but it is as clean as it gets. The decor is older, but I don't mind. This is a place I would not want to look up on a health inspector report, but I have never gotten sick. Waitress seems unfriendly, but she is nice if you start a conversation with her. I went in to try out their breakfast and was surprised with a nice menu selection. I ended up getting standard breakfast fare...eggs, sausage and pancakes. The food came out hot, pancakes were fluffy and an honest amount of scrambled eggs. The waitress was friendly and checked with us as appropriate.
