We visited Chronic Tacos on a Wednesday night. Coincidentally the USA world cup game was on... which meant online orders were flooding in. I want to commend the staff for dealing with an overwhelming number of orders. Those guys work hard back there. They also tried to triage the best that they could with the in person line. We ordered a surf and turf burrito, a custom made Al pastor burrito, a kids combo, a side of guacamole and chips and their dessert - churros with caramel sauce. With tax and tip came to a little under $60. Serving size was good. Taste was good. Was this the best burrito I've ever tasted? No. But they custom made each burrito to order and I can see them deep frying our churros to order too. The restaurant has a strong AC. If you've got kiddos wearing short sleeves and shorts you might want to grab them a hoodie or something. Might have redeemable qualities but the California Burrito is not one of them. Before you come at with me that it's not "Chronic Burritos", there's a giant floor to ceiling printout of this burrito in the front of the store and the website's homepage shows a burrito, not a taco, so it's fair game. Burrito was very small, a good 30% of the tortilla was pure overlap and yet still it wasn't wrapped completely. The tortilla itself tasted old and dry. Size probably comes from their fries being so small, they don't work well for a California burrito, they taste fine. The carne asada was fine, not bad but nothing special. The Baja Sauce is absolutely disgusting, it's burger special sauce and has no place in a burrito. No salsa bar, and $1 for an extra 1.5oz of salsa is criminal. read more

Stopped in here tonight to give it a try. It was clean and everything was fresh. I got a chicken bowl and my dad got two tacos (chicken and carnitas). Everything was fresh and tasty. The guys working recommended the tacos and my dad was glad he got them. We will be back soon to try more! read more

Well, have had tacos here twice and both times they were great. Decided to go for a burrito last night, and was REALLY disappointed . Ordered a surf and turf, pintos, Spanish rice, cabbage, cheese, salsa.... First, the tortilla stuck to the paper, and tore apart as I unwrapped it... then the rice, which I typically enjoy, was DRY, and there wasn't enough juice in the beans to help. I picked up dinner here this past Sunday. Parking was easy in the plaza lot shared amongst the businesses. Service wasn't the fastest, but it was friendly and sufficient. The interior was spacious and modern with lovely murals on the wall and a good amount of seating, though I ordered for takeout. Got the surf & turf burrito minus black beans. The worker explained my choice of salsa -- spicy (red), mild (green), or no spice (tomato/salsa fresca type of mix). I opted for the latter, no spice at all, and glad I did cuz the burrito definitely had a kick to it, probably from the marinade for the shrimp. This is a new addition to the Danville area. This restaurant took the place of taco bell that has been here for years. Food is great price and on top of this, very good food and service. 4th visit, I love this place! Today's fare, potato taco and a pollo asdada quesadilla, both top notch. Round out with an iced ice, great lunch. Friendly staff and chill interior. Catching a World Cup game and if interested they have beer. I predict this will be very successful here in Danville, steady line during lunch hour. read more

Came here curious to check out the new place and it did not disappoint! We were greeted on our way in and everyone chatted with us as we went through the line. We got the Surf and Turf burrito and the California burrito. They made the shrimp and French fries fresh when we placed our order so the shrimp was warm and juicy, not overcooked, and the fries were crunchy. Liked the Baja Sauce and carne asada as well! Had to check out this new spot that just opened a few days ago. Happy to report that it is very good. Located in the old Danville Taco Bell location (next to Smart & Final) I hope people will discover it. Staff is friendly, and the interior seating area has been nicely refreshed. Bonus points for the classic RootsRockReggae playing in the background. Setup is similar to Chipotle but with a little more authentic taqueria flavor. The portions are generous and prepared fresh. I was very excited to see grilled fish tacos on the menu -- those are usually hard to find in NorCal. Really enjoyed my first visit to Chronic Tacos and will definitely be back. I rate this as a better option than Chipotle if you're craving fast-casual burrito or tacos. read more

I don't get the hype. Salsa is so so. Chips are so so. I'm not really a fan, and it's just me, of standing in line while they quickly ask what you want, then they slop it on a tortilla. It's not a model I like. I want to order something and have them prepare it, with love, not slopping it on a tortilla. Also being quizzed in line as to my choices with people waiting just isn't my bag. Again, I just didn't think the food was that great, kinda boring, and the menu is limited. I have been to the resteraunt several times food was excellent quality and the seasonings and salsas were very flavorful and the veggies were fresh i have tried the cali burrito and assorted tacos also a chicken burrito i was very satisfied and the service was very professional will defintely go here again. Decided to try this 'new to NorCal' taqueria during its opening week. I'm happy I did. The build your own burrito is quite filling and at a very reasonable price. I was a little disappointed in the street tacos as they were somewhat cold by the time I ate it. The line to order your food was quite long not only in terms of the number of customers but in the time it takes to place & receive your order. I'm going to chalk up the slow delivery time due to the staff still having to master the menu. I'm sure over time, it will be a much smoother operation. I like the menu and the fresh food. I look forward to going back to establish a better perspective.. There are two opportunities for improvement. If you're going to put fries in a burrito San Diego style "California burrito" you have to make sure they are extra crispy. Otherwise it's just soft potatoes in a burrito which was very disappointing. The tortilla chips are offensive! It's called Chronic Tacos. Give me a crispy freshly fried salty tortilla chip. This was like eating a gluten and salt free cracker prescribed by doctors for people with severe allergies. You just can't be a California taco place and serve these embarrassing chips. You can't smoke enough chronic to convince yourself these are acceptable. Overall, the food is solid, give it a try. Avoid the chips at all costs or try them just to have fun.
