DISCLAIMER: Do not be dissuaded from patroning this breakfast-serving cafe because of this three-star rating...it has a lot of five-star potential. Decorum (ahem: cracked window in the enterance door) should always be factored into the overall dining experience, and the uninspired decorations pervading this cafe didn't do anything but hamper its rating. If Camp Guantanamo Bay served five-star food, I'm sure people wouldn't be lining up at the electric fences to dine there. I already mentioned the (multiple) cracks in the glass windows, which is really unsitely given that the cafe's exterior is essentially made up of these long, floor-length windows. Upkeep on them is pretty important. Also, while I'm not an interior designer, I'm unsure of what the purpose of hanging the same two pieces of artwork right next to each other is. It caught my eye for the wrong reasons. The paint on the walls was done sloppilly, etc etc. I don't want to dwell on this too much, but it was a serious detractor from the food. Speaking of which... I ordered the western omlette with rye toast and home fries. I will boldly say that the home fries this cafe serves are the best I've ever had. They look a little overcooked, but they were perfect. Flavor and consistency were as good as I could imagine for home fries. The omlette was very fluffly. Too fluffly perhaps. It was also one of, if not the largest omlettes I've ever consumed. But it was preciesly cooked and quite appealing to the eye. The four haf-slices of rye toast were very tasty. Not sure about the "home made" claim they advertise, though. I wouldn't say the portions were huge. My girlfriend and I hardly got enough of those scrumptious home fries. She - while agreeing that the home fries were obscenely good - griped about her (poached) eggs as well. "They were watery," she said. My girlfriend would also like to add that despite her vivid description of the eggs, she's very smart. I second that. But I digress back to the food. We also got a blackberry and white chocolate chip scone. It was forgetable. It was an odd followup to our food, and I think that may have hurt its standings with us. It was too soft for a scone, and a bit bland. It was however, massive. So that's good. Another thing that should be mentioned are the two diners that were at the cafe before us. We overheard/listened to them complaining about waiting 45 minutes for their food. Apparently we were served first, as we only had to wait 15 or so minutes. A man who I presumed to be the friendly owner came out to hand-deliver their order to them. When the customers asked why there wasn't any spiniach in their dish, the owner replied that they were out of spinach. Too bad. At least it wasn't us. The western omlette ran $8, and the prices for breakfast foods in general was a bit high for my liking. With another breakfast/lunch cafe literally down the street, the competition might get pretty heated. I look forward to reaping the delicious benefits. I would really like to wait another six or so months, or until they fix the cracks in the windows, whichever comes first, to eat here again. The home fries alone convinced me to give this potential-laden cafe another chance. I went for breakfast on a weekend at around 10:30 am and was pleasantly surprised to find that we did not have to wait for a table. The staff seemed very nice, but weren't too hovery, and I loved the self-serve coffee bar. My veggie omelet was HUGE and also quite delicious, but you can't really go wrong with eggs and plethora of vegetables. The main feature, in my opinion, was the delicious breakfast potato hash! I thought the price was a little high...but this could be because I've been spoiled by the $4.50 toast/eggs/potato/coffee breakfasts to be found in assorted breakfast/lunch joints around town. I've been to Christopher's a few times now and I really like it. It's a 15 minute drive from me and I still go even though I have a handful of breakfast places within walking distance. Their fresh fruit plate is ACTUALLY fresh and tastes amazing. And their home fries are TO DIE FOR. They offer fresh juice and have the perfect amount of options on the menu. The hash... Needed a breakfast place on the way to Boston and found Christopher's Cafe on Yelp. I have passed it a million times. Bottom line- good food and good coffee. I love that you refill your own. It definitely saves trips for the waitstaff and I can have my fill of good coffee. We had eggs, french toast and pancakes. The baked goods looked great, though we did not try them. My son was a little disappointed with the waffles because they weren't thick like he has had out before. I think they could have been cooked longer. All in all- very happy to have good breakfast close to my house AND good coffee (Reds in Salem please take note) Note- we got there at 8:15 for Sunday breakfast. It was pretty empty. Six of us had breakfast at Christopher's today and we were all extremely pleased with the food. The service was as cheerful and welcoming as the reviews had promised. The coffee was excellent. Very nice waitstaff but the food was OK and took a long time to get there lukewarm. The cafe was not crowded when we went in. Coffee choices were good. The atmosphere is trying for hipster but is a little too downmarket. Ordered cold drinks. Server takes money and gives change. Server puts bare , money dirty, hands in ice bag. Server taker ice with same hand and places disgustingly dirty ice in my glass. Server serves drink to me. YUCK! Did I say YUCK! I can just imagine what takes place in the back, where I could not see. This was done in front of my face. The drink I ordered was a Diet Coke. I hear the snap of the can opening in the back. I can only assume my daughter and I were each given 1/2 of that can. I was charged for 2 coffees instead of 2 sodas. We stumbled upon Christpher's driving to and from the YMCA in Marblehead and it has become our favorite post-swim-class breakfast spot. The food is great. I love their homefries and the coffee cake is to die for. They use high quality ingredients - fresh spinach and really good feta cheese in the Greek omelet make it one of my favorite dishes. In addition to the amazing food, the owner and staff are great and even though we arrive with two messy toddlers in tow, they always greet us warmly and are very accomodating. What would make this restaurant absolutely perfect is homeade bread/toast, particularly since they do such a nice job with the baked goods. read more

Finally !!! A breakfast joint that takes the coffee as serious as the food. Personally I'm tired of going out to the same old boring place. It cost money to go out to eat. So when i go out to eat. The best breakfast place in Lynn! One of my favorite breakfast places ever. Delicious pancakes and waffles, which may be topped with fresh blueberries, bananas, strawberries, and raspberries. If you do not want breakfast and just have a sweet tooth, this is also a great place to stop for delicious scones, banana bread, cupcakes or cookies. The home fries are the best I have ever had anywhere. Unfortunately, if I order pancakes, I do not have enough room in my belly for the home fries. Therefore, I recommend eating with a friend so you can get an order to split. One of my favorite features about Christopher's is that it has self serve coffee. I often think I should contact Diners, Drive-ins and Dives so that they can highlight my favorite breakfast place. This is fairly close to where I live and I have never had a chance to stop in and when I did I was thoroughly disappointed. The place was barely sanitized and the man behind the counters hands looked like it was against his religion to wash his hands. Christopher's is a sunny little cafe with a great owner who makes sure his customers enjoy what they order. When my six year old daughter chose a brownie it was brought out on a plate decorated with chocolate syrup, generously topped with whipped cream and then finished off with more syrup on top. My daughter was elated and we agreed that this place is definitely better than Panera Bread a mile away. I had a scone and it was delicious. read more

Outstanding! They got us out in time for my mom to go to church today. My western omelet and my mom's scone were made with fresh ingredients. Staff were very accommodating. My mom and I only had 40 minutes. The cafe had a new chef and orders from six tables. The owner prepared my omelet fast and delicious. You have your choice of coffees at their coffee bar. The scones are incredible, and I was never a huge scone person. They're pretty large, not too sweet, and often over-flowing with fresh fruit. I've only tried the baked goods here, and think that Christopher's Cafe is under-rated as a bakery. It's fantastic. read more

We visited Christopher's for the first (and last time) because of all the rave reviews on Yelp. We were a party of eight, arrived at approximately 12:30 pm. They were quick to seat us and that's the only positive remark I can make. The rest of our experience was beyond subpar. While our waitress was pleasant and polite the service was terribly slow. We watched smaller parties come in be seated & served while we sat waiting for our order. Not once did the waitstaff check in or apologize for the delay in service. Although she did refill our water while we waited, twice. Our food came out an hour later by which point we were starving. My dad didn't even finish his omelette and our kids barely touched their pancakes & French toast, both of which were over-cooked. At no point, even after complaints did the staff offer to discount our meal or compensate our party in any way present or future. Needless to say, we will not be going back. read more

I'm sorry that Christopher's Cafe didn't like the 2 star rating that I gave it! I think it's great that the owner wrote an answer to my review! I just think that the time could have been better spent CLEANING his business!! I didn't have a good experience at his cafe and I have a right to say so! It wasn't busy when I arrived, and since you mentioned it IHOP is always very welcoming and the food has never been served to me burnt! I was expecting to have a good meal, but I was disappointed! And if you think that by saying your place has a " rustic contemporary atmosphere" that that excuses it's dirtiness, well sir it does not! It's a nice cafe in a good area and thanks for all the coffee that I can drink, but is the cup clean? I don't want to have to worry about that!! Please acknowledge your business' shortcomings and work on improving them, and then SURELY your place will be rated the best in town!! read more
