Beauty comes from inside. Inside Christopher Brian Salon. Love is in the hair at CBS, and I'm hair for it. Its fearless leader and his team of stylists play with scissors for the shear fun of it, and are the ride-or-dyes you and your hair have been looking for. Nestled into the ground floor of Troy's beautiful Proctor's Theater building on 4th Street, with its highly decorative front facade of brick and marble covered in glazed terra-cotta, it's no surprise to discover that the salon's insides match its outsides. The interior is seriously sophisticated, with light and dark grey walls serving as the perfect contrast against the large floor-to-ceiling windows and big, beautiful green plants that call the bright window seats home. The main floor is a neat little grid of beautiful styling stations, and mirrors, plenty of mirrors - even full wall-length mirrors - except instead of feeling like you're trapped in a funhouse, you're lost at Barney's, and loving it. A fun feature I really loved: each stylist's station is equipped with a mini Husky or Stanley branded tool chest on wheels, including a massive tool chest at the makeup bar. So like, not only does it add a cool masculine feel to the chic space, but I love the message that sends to clients, like, "Yeah, we work with tools, too!" Nice flex, guys. The best seat in the house, however, is in Christopher Brian's chair. Sure, he has a slew of super talented hairstylists working with him, but Christopher Brian speaks hair; English is his second language, and I've never had a bad hair day with him. Facts. Christopher works incredibly fast yet extremely precise, and with the eye and talent of a professional who's been behind the scenes at NYFW. I've long been privy to his next-level hair skills, and I'm incredibly happy to be back in his chair once again. He works in every color of the color wheel, but he's a self proclaimed Blonde Lover/Expert/God, and those are my people, so hair I am! I would behoove anyone with a scalp, and a pulse, to visit Christopher Brian Salon, sink into a luxe chair, and let one of its awesome stylists give you the change you're seeking! In a sea of talented professionals in the Capital Region hair game, Christopher Brian and his team are definitely top-tier! read more

I had my first balayage color and haircut with Chris. I am extremely low maintainence with my hair... Chris colored and styled it in a way I can manage on a day to day basis. Prices are super reasonable... using the Yelp first time discount, I paid less than $150 for the balayage, hair cut and blowout. The salon is beautiful and clean -- a perfect addition to downtown troy. read more

Christopher Brian Hair - Hair Salons Near Me - Latham, New York

I was visiting my daughter and needed a haircut. I am super picky but read through all the reviews and made an appointment with Christopher. I had recently grown out my hair so I was looking for ideas. Christopher was great to work with. He threw out ideas and we decided on one. I was so happy after he was done, I made another appointment for when I next visited! Highly recommend. read more

Went for the first time and had an excellent experience. They are so nice and were so accommodating... I love, love, love the cut and color and am so happy to have gone. I cannot wait to go back and see what is next in the process of coloring my aging grey hair. I am so embarrassed though because I realized that night that i under tipped severely on accident by giving a 10 instead of a 20 for one of the bills.. I will over tip Jenna next time.. :-( read more

Christopher Brian Hair - Blonde balayage w/ root smudge on brunette - Hair Salons Near Me - Latham, New York

Tommy did an excellent job with my hair. She did exactly like I wanted and even better. I would highly recommend this place.

I recently found Jenna at Christopher Brian Salon when a friend referred me to her. She did a consultation with me prior to booking my appointment so she could make a recommendation on how best to achieve the complicated look I am going for. The results she achieved were great, my hair looks awesome. In addition to her talent, she is also friendly and professional. The salon itself is really nice and well maintained. The staff are all nice and welcoming. Parking was pretty easy to find for my later afternoon appointment. Jenna also did my daughters hair and did a great job. We will definitely be repeat customers. read more

There's a reason this place has been voted the best salon in the Capital Region for a number of years. Christopher and his team are THE BEST. It took me years to find a place I trusted with my hair in the Albany area, but after finding CBS I am a customer for life. I usually get my hair done by Stacy and she is excellent at listening to my ideas and 1) telling me why some of them are not the best for my hair and 2) giving me a cut and color that I LOVE every single time. On top of that, she is extremely pleasant and makes the time you spend in her chair fun and engaging. Christopher does such a great job with providing his employees (and himself) with continuous education so that his team is extremely knowledgeable and up-to-date with the latest and greatest. That really puts me at ease and gives me the piece of mind I need to relax and let Stacy do some magic on my hair. Every single time I walk out of there I feel like a bombshell, and have made several comments that I wish Stacy could come to my house and make my hair look that good every day! read more

We relocated to Schoharie due to Covid from the city and I was concerned when it was time to get my hair done. I read reviews of salons across the Capitol District and landed on Christopher Brian. We did an email consult due to Covid, and when I came in for my appointment, Stacy was very prepared. Stacy had great suggestions, showed me a lot of photos, and landed on the perfect color and cut. For my second appointment Stacy had to leave in the middle of the appointment and Christopher took over without missing a beat. That is one of the nicest things about the salon is that everyone works well together and it is a very warm and inviting environment. It is also wonderful because everyone is highly skilled and you leave looking great. read more

As a former stylist I have been putting off a haircut for the last year since I moved to Troy...I finally caved and started to look around and do my research. I am so glad I found Stacy! She asked great questions about my expectations, and handled my insane amount of hair with precision and ease! I love love love my cut! Thank you Stacy! read more

I've been going to Christopher for years, initially at the recommendation of a co-worker. Having had several horrible dye jobs before, to say I was nervous was an understatement. But the minute I sat in the chair & told him what I was looking for, he said "I have just the thing" and took off for bowls of dye, brushes, tin foil & saran wrap... I thought maybe he was MacGyver. Turns out, pretty close. My hair looked amazing. After a few more trips I decided to get brave & try something new. Being a bit of a color genius, he recommended departing from the blonde life to try being a redhead -- the very color that had done me wrong so many times before. But having experienced his work firsthand, I put my hair in his hands as I listened to him shouting color codes to his assistant and then once again, away he went for bowls of magic (insert major deep-breath moment). The results were nothing short of incredible. Not only was color beautiful, it complemented my skin tone & eye color as if it was always supposed to be that way. I live on the other side of the country now but still make appointments to see him every time I am in the area. His work is impeccable. He's also very selective about his staff & ensures that they are all well trained & masters of their craft. Any chair you get at this salon is sure to leave you with your best hair days ever! read more

Since moving to Cohoes, I had no luck finding a decent hair stylist so gave up until my hair was uncontrollable. I found Christopher Brian and from the first helo and the reviews I felt i might have found my place. Well, I did. I met with Stacey who has been their stylist for 8 years. She'ss a dedicated person to her science of art and the art of color. She takes the time to know your hair and make recommendations. She cuts with professional confidence and you know you're in competent hands. My hair color is going gray and she gave me excellent advice for managing the transition. I will be going back! Plus the staff and owner are lovely warm people in a trending Troy location. Thanks guys! read more

Wonderful salon. Christopher is an incredible stylist. I trust him to choose my cut every time.

I came in for a shampoo & blowout the Friday before Christmas. It was a last minute decision and my normal hairdresser was booked so I turned to Yelp & I found that this salon had great reviews plus online booking which is awesome so I scheduled a mid-morning appointment with Stacy. Since I'd never been, I didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived at this beautiful, modern salon located in a gorgeous historic building (ps parking was a breeze - I found a big open spot directly across the street from the salon). Stacy was really warm & friendly and did a quick but thorough consult before getting down to business. She then did an amazing shampoo job - she didn't get a drop of water on my face so I could have applied my make-up before & avoided looking like a hot mess after all. She then gave me a fantastic blow out that looked great & i was thoroughly pleased with. I would absolutely return. read more

On May 19th, 2022 I went into this salon for the first time (after moving to Troy) for a basic trim with Stacy. Here we are 10 months later and I am STILL trying to grow out this haircut. Somehow I ended up with over-texturized hair that is thin and super straight, especially at the ends, which is weird because I don't have naturally straight hair. I ended up going back to my long-time stylist at a different salon and she told me that it looked over-texturized and that a lot of weight had been removed from my hair. Mind you, I never asked for any of that. Having never seen my hair before, I'm not sure why Stacy cut my hair like this when all I asked for was a basic trim of 1 to 2 inches. I have long hair, so I have been having to gradually get trims for the last 10 months while trying to grow this out. In previous months I had gone back to Christopher Brian Salon for bang trims only, and saw Tommy who was wonderful. I even had a color appointment scheduled, but I kept cancelling because I was scared to go back here for anything more than just a bang trim. I wish staff would have asked me how I normally cut my hair instead of just completely changing the texture of it and removing weight when I didn't ask for it. I know I am in the minority as this salon has rave reviews, but sadly that was not my experience. I will say that the salon is clean and inviting and the staff is polite. I just wish I had a better experience with my haircut. read more

Christopher is not a hair stylist; he is a hair doctor. My hair had been through two processes and was recovering from some very uneven balayage. Christopher was able to not only give me exactly what I wanted (it was like he read my mind) but he gave me advice and sample products to show me how to maintain it. I shopped around the capital region for the right salon since the first spot I tried did not go well and I am so glad I found this place! GO HERE FIRST!!! Christopher took the time to figure out what my hair needed and worked in different mixtures to ensure everything was even and blended. I've never had a hair stylist pay such attention to detail. You can just tell that he takes a lot of pride in his work which is exactly what you should want. Overall 10/10! read more

this place is dangerous. stay away. it is poison. the people here are cruel and unfeeling. the haircuts are mediocre at best.

I went here after my long-time stylist moved away. They found a salon by reading reviews online. I went for a color retouch and haircut. Stacey was my stylist, and she did an awesome job. I've gotten many compliments since then, and I enjoyed the experience greatly. I thought Stacey had a really great sense of humor and I enjoyed my time in the salon. I found the prices to be very competitive with other area salons. I will definitely be back . read more

First time went there and got a women's hair cut. When I got back home, washed out the curs the stylist did in the salon, I found the two sides of my hair were not same length! Which is really terrible and I payed $60 for a hair cut and this is what I got. The stylist was talking to another client all the time while she was cutting my hair, and apparently was not paying attention to what she was supposed to do. Definitely will not go back to this place. read more

I don't have one negative thing to say about this salon. Everyone there is so friendly, fun, and fantastic at what they do. I have been going to Kerry since I moved to Troy, and she has always been so patient with my obsession with being super blonde. She is so good with color, and every time she tweaks the formula to go lighter, my color always comes out beautifully. I trust her judgement and her expertise- she is a master with blonde color! I love the products that they use and sell at the salon: they have made my hair healthier and made it possible to maintain my color between appointments. I wish I could give this salon more than five stars! read more

I never do much to my hair, but I was ready to update my look a bit. I checked Yelp for some suggestions and I found Christopher Brian Salon. I called after work to make an appointment and they had an opening the next day. Perfect! I walk in and was greeted and offered a beverage. The salon is very sharp looking. I love the long mirrors, the light fixtures and beautiful art all around. When my stylist comes over, she introduced herself, Stacy. We go over my hair preferences and she gives me some options. We decide to try balayage. During my hair treatment, she is easy to talk to and funny. She even gave me a brief history of balayage, which I found pretty interesting. She really took the time to listen to my usual routine and suggested how I can change things in the future, but this was a great foundation to start. After my hair was colored and styled, she never pressured me to buy any add ons. Stacy was professional and kind during my time in the salon. My hair came out beautiful! I look forward to going back!! read more

Went to Stacy and she was ok at cutting my hair, I found her hard to listen to, she is all about local politics and is intolerant of others views. I came to get my hair done and she was talking about things that really made my blood boil..I paid good money for haircut/style and she ruined it with her abrasive political talk..also, she was not entirely honest about her schedule after hearing her talk to another customer over the phone..I think I will go elsewhere. read more

Love my cut and color! Christopher did an awesome job, I feel great and already made my next appointment. So happy I found this place!

I came in today for a much overdue haircut and color, life gets busy when you're a new mom but gotta take care of myself too!!! it's been years since i had my hair done by Christopher. Christopher listens to his clients and knows exactly what will benefit the client! I just told him i want something that will complement my skin tone and the shape of my face, and voila-- "butterscotch latte" balayage and layers, i couldn't be happier. the staff are very friendly and accomodating too. The price is reasonable. Thanks again Christopher and Stacy! See you soon! read more

Chris is as good as it gets! He is amazing with color and color correction, believe me I know! Myself and two daughters only go to Christopher. I've literally never had such an amazing experience getting my hair cut. I walked in completely unsure of what I was doing. (I'm abnormally attached to my long hair.) But I came in knowing I wanted it chopped off and Christopher put me right at ease. He helped me decide what length would look good and suit my body type. The conversation, the products, the cut, everything was great. I would highly recommend to someone looking for an upscale but down to earth salon. Highly recommend. So grateful for Kerry! Just moved to the area and previously had two nightmare color appointments on my natural blonde hair. I walked in blazing orange. It was masterfully corrected to a beautiful light blonde hue. The salon is clean, professional and fun! read more

The staff here are so completely arrogant and rude. When I went in for a haircut everyone was gossiping about and mocking a guest who had apparently been in earlier that day. Very unkind people. The smile you (sometimes) get when greeted is a complete sham. To them you are worthless if you are not a skinny blonde. No thanks. read more

I absolutely LOVE the Christopher Brian Salon! I have been going to Christopher for over 10 years and have followed him on his journey to where he is now.... The owner of the best salon EVER! Each and every time I go there I leave feeling rejuvenated and happy :-) Recently, I have been seeing Stacy who has cut and colored my hair. She is AMAZING....So creative and talented! I even had her color my 12 year old daughter's tips hot pink which is a huge thing and says a lot about how confident I am with her.
