Every time I go have my silver hair cut and styled by Christine she does an awesome job and i always feel greatl‼

I wish I could give it a negative star. My husband got his hair cut here today. It was worse than the hair cut I gave him during COVID shut down. He said the shaver seemed to get stuck in his hair. He ended up having to go to Jean Paul Salon to get it improved - cut was so bad it couldn't be fixed. I've attached a photo of the cut pre Jean Paul. It doesn't show the bald patch on his crown... I don't like leaving such a bad review and maybe there are some good stylists at this place, but wanted to let people know they should definitely do their homework on finding a stylist before just booking a cut here. read more

The Cuttery - this is, um, not what he wanted. - Barbers Near Me - Albany, New York

Lou Montana is the only person who I let touch my son's hair. We let his hair grow from the time he was born until he turned three. It killed Lou a bit to touch those long blonde locks, but it was time. Since then, we've been going back to see Lou whenever things get too unruly. And when my daughter came along, she got to take a turn in Lou's chair too. He is great with kids. I'd go and have him cut my hair too, but I have no hair to cut. I love taking the children to a salon meant for adults. There are no televisions with cartoons. No juvenile touches or branded characters. Instead, my kids get to build a relationship with a human being who talks to them about what's going on in their lives and takes an interest in what they have to say. Much like the experience any adult would have at the salon. Except for when they're done, Lou offers them a pick from his stash of Tootsie Pops. It's always a pleasure to come here, and it was one of the things we missed most about the area in the year we spent in New Jersey. read more

Mandy has been my stylist for a couple years now. She is very great at communicating to make sure I get what I want. Very time efficient and kind about booking. Mandy will always be a reliable stylist for me!! read more

After my fiancé was referred to this place by a co-worker he was able to get in with a hair cut from Olivia, and he has no complaints. She was very friendly and knew what she was doing. The waiting room was full of color and had a retro feel. The people who worked there seemed very friendly. Price was great too! THey didn't seem to accept credit, as he had to walk down to Stewarts to get money from the ATM. He said they seemed to all be contractors. read more

The Cuttery - Barbers Near Me - Albany, New York

I've been seeing Karen for years and every time I leave the Cuttery I am very very happy with my hair!! She's great. How great you may ask? Great enough so that when I was living in Virginia I would make it a point to be in NY every few months to get my hair done (my hometown is Poughkeepsie, mind you, so I would drive to Albany from Poughkeepsie after getting there from VA to get a cut/color and see some friends). She's very friendly and I'm always thrilled with how my hair looks. Prices are very reasonable, I've never had any complaints, everyone who works there is super friendly, the salon is clean and well maintained, and there's always a good selection of magazines. I definitely recommend! read more

Although the place may not be much to look at, it houses the best stylist in the 518 area code - Olivia Engel. She is an absolute artist! Her color work is second to none as are her haircuts, and they manage to look beautiful even while they are growing in! Go see her, you will not be disappointed! read more

Peter Romano is to Albany what Alexander was to Paris. He started cutting my hair when I was 18. He is a creative genius and you can always tell a Peter Romano haircut. Lou Montana is also an excellent stylist and colorist. An excellent salon that houses wonderful talent and quality professionals. Don't hesitate to get your "Do" done there! Melissa M. I love this place. Have been going for years after a long stretch of having people mess up my hair (including fancy places in albany/latham). Lou M. is able to make my hair a perfect match to my natural color every time and does an excellent job with my sons hair in the past. I am always treated well by all of the staff. love it! read more

Love the atmosphere, love the people, love the cut and style EVERY time I go to The Cuttery. Everyone knows the classic looks but they keep up with the trends too! Regardless, you will receive the best cut, color, and style for your face, body, personality, and lifestyle here. I have been going here my whole life and refuse to go anywhere else. Even when I was in college and when I lived in another part of the country, I travelled back and made sure to get my hair done above all else. Now that I love back in the area, I happily drive 40 minutes across the Capital Region to visit The Cuttery! read more

We drive an hour from Schoharie county just so my my boyfriend can get his hair cut here. It is THE best place we've found in the Capital Region for men's cuts. They really do a fantastic job. We happened to stumble upon the place while running errands one day and keep coming back. Guys, do yourself a favor and make yourself an appointment at this little gem. You won't regret it. read more

I have been a member of the Cuttery Fan Club since 1982! I have gone to Peter and Su for my hair; Peter and I had the awful, tearful experience of my eldest son's 1st haircut--all three of us cried. My son is now 32 and neither Peter, nor I have yet gotten over the trauma. I used to drive nearly two hours from Mass. to get my hair done; but for the past four years, I have been in an electric power wheelchair, which has kept me from my Cuttery friends. My hair looks awful! I miss Peter, Joe, Su, Lou, Karen, and the crew! Love you! read more

I've been getting cuts from Gerard for over a year now and I've never been happier with a barber! Excellent personalities in this place and good prices. I'll be visiting Gerard at The Cuttery for as long as I possibly can. read more

Love it. Had my first appointment today with Lou, who was a pleasure. The cut is exactly what I wanted, and I had great consultations before and after. The price was $40 for the cut, which I thought was a great value. The salon itself was clean and friendly. This is a hidden gem. read more

The Cuttery is just a short walk away from my apartment. Lou has cut my hair twice now, and not only does he do a great job, but he's a hoot to talk with while he's working! He cuts my bangs for free and always makes me feel and look beautiful! read more

A little spot on the New Scotland Ave "strip" between Quail and Ontario. Super professional and very nice staff. Prices aren't cheap but you want cheap, go to Fantastic Sams!! read more

I am giving my experience at The Cuttery, 5 stars. I was able to get in quickly and with almost no notice. I told the receptionist that I wanted a stylist that will listen well and implement what they've heard. I was placed into Amy's trusting hands. She did great, took plenty of time with me, and gave me one of the best cuts of my life. The salon is nice and clean, was bustling with activity, and parking was a snap. I'll be back for sure. read more

Love this place would recommended any one to go there and ask for Christine. She has been highlighting my hair "super blonde" for a while now and always knows I want to keep my long length. read more

I'm astounded by the lack of reviews for this place, as I have heard raves about it for years. I had my first appointment today and I'm already hooked. The salon is bright, funky and modern inside and the staff is very friendly and professional. Peter cut my hair and not only did he have a great personality but he gave me an adorable haircut. He was conscious of what I wanted and checked with me before cutting length (always important). The price is GREAT ($35-45 range for a cut) for the quality and service. When compared to places like Jean Paul that overcharge and have rude, careless service, this place has it all. read more

I got my haircut here today. Peter did an amazing job!! My hair was really long and I was nervous. He was super nice and explained everything he was doing. I love my new haircut and I would definitely recommend this salon to anyone!! read more

Found this place through a fluke and just love them! Peter is fabulous!! My kids, husband and mother all love him. The staff is as nice as can be. Accommodating and helpful and just a pleasure to visit! read more

I've had Amy cut my hair for the past two years and she is fantastic! I really don't know anything about hair or styling and I always tell her a very basic idea of what I want and then let her knowledge and expertise take over. I always get tons of compliments after my haircut and I love that she seems to know exactly what kind of cut works for me....I have super thick hair and she gives me lots of layers to make it "lighter." Love, love, love this place and I won't go anywhere else! read more

I have been going to Joe since the summer of 2012. My color is always great and lasts for 5- 6 weeks easily. I am trying to grow my hair out and have very fine, thick hair - difficult to manage. He listens to what I ask and gingerly snips the ends so I can let it grow. The place is clean, chic with retro and reasonable prices. No credit cards but that's OK. I did get a parking ticket tonight - my fault - be mindful of the signs... read more
