The clothing and dresses are absolutely stunning, the boutique smells wonderful, and Ibrahim provides some of the best customer service I've experienced anywhere. From the moment I walked in, Ibrahim made me feel genuinely welcome. He is incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and attentive without ever being overbearing. This wasn't my first visit to Thiocary. I've purchased several pieces here before, yet this was actually my first time bringing my partner because I've spoken so highly of the boutique for quite some time. I was rather excited to introduce someone else to a store I've always enjoyed visiting. Specialty boutiques with large collections can sometimes feel intimidating or overwhelming because there are so many pieces to choose from, but Ibrahim completely removes that feeling. He encourages you to take your time, listens to what you're looking for, selects pieces he believes you'll love, and patiently walks you through the different ways each garment can be worn and styled. He happily pulled every dress I wanted to see, and never once made me feel rushed. He repeatedly assured me that I could take as much time as I needed to find the right pieces. It was an unusually hot Chicago afternoon (around 80 degrees), and after walking around the city and riding the train, my partner and I stepped inside feeling overheated. We noticed the seating area beside the large fan and sat for just a few minutes to cool off before browsing. Before we even had the opportunity to begin shopping, another employee approached us from across the store wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap and immediately told us, "You need to leave. You can't be in here." Uhm, Excuse me. Utterly perturbed as I was, I explained that we intended to shop and simply wanted a moment to cool down first. Instead of listening, he became increasingly dismissive and repeatedly insisted we leave. What!?? I even asked if he remembered helping me during a previous visit when I had purchased several items from the boutique. His response was simply, "I don't care. I don't remember you. Leave." My goodness! An absolutely unacceptable and off-putting way to treat two women who had just stepped into the store. Thankfully, Ibrahim immediately stepped in. He came from behind the register, apologized through his actions without criticizing his coworker, told us to ignore the comments, and warmly reassured us that we were absolutely welcome to stay. He reminded us the boutique didn't close until 7:00 p.m. (it was only around 4:00), invited us to rest, browse, shop at our own pace, and even offered us bottled water. His kindness completely changed the atmosphere. Unfortunately, that was not the end of the disgusting behavior from the other. He shockingly continued his harassment. While Ibrahim was ringing us up, the other man repeatedly interrupted, loudly asking "Can I help you?" and "Hello?" multiple times from a chair near a computer. It was disruptive, it was eerie. It was unsettling. After we completed our purchase and sat near the fan, the rude man who claimed to be the owner, demanded our names repeatedly, then ordered us to leave again."Get out" he said. "I'm calling the police" He pulled out his phone and said he was calling 911 since we would not leave. It was weird and disgusting. Ibrahim however calmly continued reassuring us that we had done nothing wrong and encouraged us to ignore the behavior. Eventually I had to firmly tell the employee back off, before he finally laughed at me and walked away. I cannot believe that such a beautiful store would have such an employee with awful treatment to customers. Thank God for Ibrahim as he kept us feeling safe and welcomed. Ibrahim deserves every bit of recognition management can give him. Most certainly, had Ibrahim not intervened, we would have walked out immediately. His professionalism completely changed the direction of our experience. Instead of losing two customers, the boutique made a sale because of him. If my interaction had been limited to Ibrahim, this would have been an effortless five-star review. Again, the purchases we made that afternoon can be directly attributed to Ibrahim's exceptional customer service. His professionalism, patience, warmth, styling expertise, kindness and comfort is exactly what luxury adjacent retail should feel like. He salvaged what otherwise would have been a deeply sour experience and is the sole reason we stayed, made our purchases, and may consider returning. I sincerely hope management recognizes both sides of this experience: an employee who represents the boutique exceptionally well, and another whose conduct toward customers is absolutely vile and should not be tolerated in any circumstance. Your fiancé tells you out of nowhere, "I don't really like the color of the suit you're getting anymore." Confidence in your look for the big day? Shattered, and you are left scrambling in the rubble trying to find anything to fit the new vision in your significant other's mind. No off-the-rack place seems to have the look, and you turn to custom suiting as a last ditch effort. A "Best custom suits in Chicago" Google search provides you with options, with one consistent name on the myriad of lists you see, Hall Madden. You send an email, half expecting to be turned down, seeing as a custom suit in a 6 week time frame is monumental, but to your delight, there is light at the end of the tunnel, as a friendly Kiyoshi replies, "we can do it." Ecstatic because of the too-good-to-be-true news, you can't help but wonder, what's the catch? It's probably going to be very expensive, especially given my situation. Let me just say, this was not the case at all, and Kiyoshi was as friendly, professional, and honest in person as he was in that email. From the first conversation, Kiyoshi was ready to get things rolling, and asked me questions about the look I was trying to achieve. He not only offered me my options and provided insight on each, but also provided me with helpful advice and knowledge on questions I had about the process and the suit/tuxedo (ended up going with a tux). After this first meeting, I decided to go all in on Hall Madden, and he got to work. The fitting was first, and Kiyoshi demonstrated his expertise right off the bat by not only showing me the different places that he was going to have altered to fit my physique, but also explained why off-the-rack suits fit me the way they did. I even learned that I naturally have my right shoulder lower than my left due to me being right-handed, which I never knew! Aftet the fitting, I got a chance to pick out everything about my tux, from the outer color and inner lining color (obviously, since my fiancé needed to put her stamp of approval), to the lapels, to the color of the jetted pockets (I even chose to have it monogrammed to boot). Feeling once again confident, I waited anxiously for the suit to come in, and in 4 weeks it did. For the final fitting, some small alterations were still needed, but got done quickly and in time for the wedding. The end result was stunning. The final Burgundy tuxedo with black satin lapels was one worthy of being next to my beautiful wife's ivory A-line wedding dress with lace details. I walked down the aisle with her, arm in arm and my head held high, as I knew I looked damn good. Of course, the compliments came as is probably customary to do on someone's wedding day, but something tells me these were genuine. To sum, my wedding day would not have been as special had Hall Madden not been a part of it. They had great reviews so I decided to give them a try over other providers like Suitsupply (which I have used before, wasn't a bad experience but definitely wasn't anything that would make me need to go back there). Kiyoshi is the tailor at Hall Madden and he does a tremendous job. He is located in an office in the loop right on Michigan Avenue that is very easy to get to (and has an amazing view of the lake). You schedule your appointment with Hall Madden online and Kiyoshi responds to confirm. I had several appointments with Kiyoshi, starting with the initial consultation to see if Hall Madden would be a good fit for what I'm looking for. Kiyoshi asked me what I had in mind and didn't push or pressure me into anything and was happy to provide his vast amount of knowledge wherever I needed some advice. After deciding on a custom tux at the initial meeting, the next visit was to get sized and pick out all of the smaller details like interior lining on the vest and inside pocket fabric for the jacket. Then the most amazing part about Hall Madden is that they send a custom test suit to see how everything looks before they make the actual suit. This was very helpful in my case as a few items needed adjusting and Kiyoshi was very attentive and detailed oriented while marking down these adjustments. On the final visit, my tux was ready and my bride to be and I were over the moon about it. It was ready well in advance of the big day, and that definitely helped ease our minds on that front. From start to finish, Kiyoshi was amazing to work with and I would highly recommend him to anyone in the market for a custom suit or tux.
