Fun time browsing this store after our train ride ended right on Newbury Street this morning…read more Everything from Tshirts and manga, to plush animals and socks, to trading cards and Funko pops, graphic novels and regular books. My brother got a Tshirt and some socks and my husband bought a book. The staff was helpful. Freezing cold in there with the a/c blasting but I'm sure it would feel good later when it's warmer and when it's crowded. Didn't really check the prices but apparently they were ok because people bought stuff. Come check it out! Newbury street is fun for shopping anyway!

For example, they carry Kpop…read moremerch, vinyl records, anime, plushies, figures, blind boxes, and other odds and ends (the place reminds me a bit of Hot Topic, except not as claustrophobic). They carry merch for beloved franchises such as Star Wars, Pokemon, Totoro/Studio Ghibli, Pusheen, Rick and Morty, Harry Potter, Stranger Things, etc. Personally, I like to come here for the Amuse plushies (Amuse is the Japanese company that sells the most adorable alpacasso, hamster, and rabbit plushies). You can find the Amuse plushies online, but there's just something satisfying about knowing how soft/fluffy they are before buying. They also carry San-X plushies (Rilakkuma, Sumikko Gurashi, etc). They also have these giant food shaped cushions that are highly popular in Japan (giant slices of meat, sushi, etc). The icing on top of the cake is the fact that I came with my friend, who is visiting from Europe and likes to collect coins. When we checked out, we paid with cash and asked the staff if they could let us pick out some "newer" coins/state quarters, and not only did they say sure, they actually laid out every single coin from their register. (Don't worry, we made sure we weren't holding up any lines.) Anyway, the fact that they were so accommodating with such an odd request really made my day. This place definitely gets an A+ for superior service.

When I travel, I always try to find something that I can't find locally for my husband…read more Transformers are something that we don't have much of back in Boise. So, after coming into this shop, I knew I could potentially find something unique for my husband! They have every toy, anime or movie theme here imaginable! T shirts, tons of blind boxes, comics and novelty merch. I did check out the comics to see if there were any Transformer comics. Unfortunately there wasn't any. I did also check out their Transformers Blokees but my husband already had a majority of them. Nothing else really caught my eye for him as a take home present. My lack of stars is not for the store itself but for the staff. I interacted with 3 of them and all were unbelievably rude. I know they deal with a lot of traffic from tourists but if you can't handle customer service with tourists then maybe you should find a better fitting job. Customer service should not be it. I left with some Harry Potter themed Uno cards. Spending 11 dollars here truly pissed me off but I know my friend will love them. Have no expectations from the staff and you'll leave happy.

I usually only come into these stores with my husband because he's the nerd but lemme tell ya, even I saw a few things that I'd like to have. Fortunately, for my pocket book and for my carry-on, my husband kept his cool and just bought a few small things that he hasn't seen in any of the shops where we live. He was super excited to check everything out and get things he can't get at home and I was lucky it was all small things. Why 4 stars? The place is upkept well but it kind of smells musty and weird in here. The employees are kind of meh, not very helpful or friendly. Also, pricing is a bit high, comparatively speaking, so the value is a bit low, but I do understand this place in a tourist zone, so I get it.

I mean a store dedicated to Harry Potter -- come on?!? And what I found wasn't some corporate, merch-filled spot but something that seemed to have grown out of the love the owner has for all things HP. This small shop includes photos and facts about the cast, mixed in with a fun assortment of items. In particular, I liked the Letter from Hogwarts wallet and items related to each of the Hogwarts houses. (This girl is a proud Ravenclaw, in case you were wondering). I ended up buying my kids plastic pens that look like quills. The owner was talking enthusiastically to all who entered, and when I told him that it was my birthday, he said he had something extra special for me and gave me my own, gold laminated train ticket from London to Hogwarts. I was thoroughly charmed by The Fairy Shop, even without the use of spells. ;-) A must-visit for any Harry Potter fans.

During a spontaneous trip to the mall in North Attleboro, I stopped in FYE and found some cute items to purchase. There's only one associate on a Saturday and he automatically signs you up for a subscription to the VIP service for FYE at the point of sales. This is not my first time dealing with this store but a No doesn't get you too far. He says it's free, but of course you have to cancel within 30 days. Make sure you remember that or else it's $11.99 per month for a subscription you probably won't use. The whole promotion for this VIP service takes much longer than necessary, plus you have to provide a license to the associate which I feel is sketchy. Randomly he throws in subscribing options for magazines too and just prolongs the whole cashing out experience. Fortunately to cancel the subscription is fairly easy online, but you have to find the correct button to cancel. Emailing them will get you no where with FYE. I feel like the whole subscription thing is a ploy to try to keep the remaining FYE businesses and online presence open, assuming people will forget about the subscription and help subsidize their failing business. I think that'll be my final time shopping at FYE.
