Now, 20 years later, my love for collecting has been rekindled, and Chris's Comics is still my go-to spot. The newest Pokémon card sets are nearly impossible to find elsewhere, yet somehow, Chris's Comics always has them in stock. They also buy cards--something I plan on taking advantage of soon--and sell singles for collectors looking for specific finds. Even if you're not into Pokémon, they have an impressive selection of trading cards, from sports to Magic: The Gathering and more. Whether you're a seasoned collector or just getting started, this shop is a gem. Highly recommend!

What's even crazier, is that during said events, you're never pressured to buy anything. How do they make a profit? I'm not sure either. Seriously though, the place is super welcoming and patient with nerds of all types. Whether you're dipping your toes into nerd culture or want to dive in face first, they've had an answer and anecdote for nearly every geeky genre that has ever pique a nerd's interest. Highly recommend the D&D games though. They're super fun and very patient with beginner players and even welcome new walk-ins during the middle of campaigns.

I'd also say for every item on that list there are 10 junk / ridiculous items of dollar store quality at tourist prices. I didn't see anything I'd say was truly unique. Essentially, it's a joke store, Spencer's, main street store and tourist shop all in one. The goal appears to be adult-ish humor, tho I'm guessing it's around the Ace Ventura level...

I tried to register online and ran into issues; when I went back in, it felt like more of a hassle for Mr. Beanie-Glasses-¿Chin-Strap-Beard? (hard to really remember). This kind of dismissive behavior isn't uncommon in comic book shops. Having been a regular reader for years, I can confidently say there's a certain hipster element embedded in comic culture that lacks the self-awareness that the "better-than-you" attitude is a dime a dozen. I place my weekly pulls with Casablanca Comics, where the staff are not only enjoyable to talk with, but actually remember your name and want to help. This shouldn't discount the efforts of the other, surely more personable employees--nor at least a visit or two to check out their selection--but it definitely detracts from any kind of regular patronage.
