I tried on a cute zip-up sweatshirt, but something about the fit wasn't quite right. It was the right size, but something about the cut wasn't exactly right for me. The lovely person helping me cheerfully offered to go in the back and get another one of the same size and color to see if it made a difference, and sure enough, this second one was perfect! It fit great and I bought it. (I also picked up some other gifts for others, too). It's so nice when salespeople go the extra mile to help, especially when what you're asking for seems a little illogical (lol!) but it makes all the difference in the world! If you're looking for gifts in York, there are several options of where you could browse... but Beach Dog is where you want to buy. Parts of this restaurant, actually reminded me of my friend's Mémère's homes along with the wonderful treats and meals. They definitely have a wonderful breakfast menu that is simple and so very satisfying. The bacon - perfection. The pancakes, delicious and filling. The blueberry crumb/coffee cake - moist and delicious. If I had one criticism...it would be the tiny far of maple syrup - not the right ratio, with the size of pancakes they offer. It's ok. I was able to take leftover pancakes home...they reheated really well and I have plenty of Maine maple syrup at home. As part of the restaurant (or vice versa) there is a connected store - which sells almost ever candy imaginable. We love the 12+ different flavors - they are fresh, so it's best to eat them within a week before they start to take on the taste of the wrapper. They are very tender pieces of taffy - not too hard. Makes them really easy to eat - very dangerous LOL This is definitely one of my favorite places in York. I can't wait to return before the start of the next tourist season. This place needs to be investigated by health inspectors. I'm not kidding…read more I was already familiar with this company's jams because they're sold in local stores back home in California, so when I happened to be in the area, I figured I'd stop by their café. What a mistake. I ordered the cream of broccoli soup, which arrived lukewarm and appeared to have been sitting out for quite some time. It had developed that thick, congealed film on the surface that cream based soups form as they cool. It didn't look fresh. I went back to the counter and politely asked for a fresh bowl since the soup wasn't remotely hot. The gentleman behind the counter gave me the impression that he was just going to reheat the same bowl, which wasn't what I had requested or paid for. Something about the interaction didn't sit right with me, so I decided to wait at the counter and watch. And, I am glad I did. While the male server was preparing my replacement soup, an older woman who worked there came over to him and asked what was wrong with the original bowl, apparently unaware that I was standing there watching. She inserted a thermometer into the soup, announced, "This isn't cold," and then proceeded to pour the soup I had already eaten from directly back into the communal soup crockpot. I was absolutely appalled. I had already taken 2 bites from that bowl. Once food has been served to a customer and partially consumed, it should NEVER be returned to a shared food container. Doing so creates an obvious risk of cross-contamination through saliva and other microorganisms that can be transferred from a person's mouth or utensils into the food. If a customer happens to be carrying a transmissible pathogen, this kind of practice could potentially expose unsuspecting customers to contamination. What made this even more disturbing was the number of elderly customers in the establishment. Older adults can be particularly vulnerable to foodborne illness and its complications. The thought that someone could unknowingly be served food contaminated by another customer's saliva is absolutely unacceptable. I approached the manager to explain what I had just witnessed, expecting at the very least some concern. Instead, his response was dismissive, and he seemed largely unbothered by what I was telling him. This wasn't a disappointing meal or poor customer service. What I witnessed raised serious questions about the staff's understanding of basic food safety, sanitation, and cross contamination prevention. I genuinely cannot understand how anyone working in food service could think returning a customer's partially eaten soup to a communal pot was acceptable, let alone do it so casually. I left completely disgusted, not only by what I witnessed but by the lack of concern from management. This establishment needs a thorough health inspection. I would strongly advise others to avoid eating here.

I need to write a review for Brenda because simply put she is a "ROCKSTAR". Above and beyond and beyond and beyond. We hosted our son and daughter in law's wedding, in our yard. The tent was put up Friday afternoon for the Saturday evening wedding. I looked at the tent and was horrified, as first time wedding planners none of us had thought about the fact that the tent does not come decorated. I texted Brenda at 3:00 and said "WE NEED HELP!" She was there at 6:30 PM and by 10:30 PM she created a magical venue. Mind you, this is not something she had planned for. She put it simply, "I need to do this because you are having a wedding, not a picnic". She is beyond amazing. The reason we hired Brenda was not to do this transformation (but how amazing that she did), but to be our florist. There is no way to explain how beautiful the flowers she created were. She created a 24 foot arrangement for the farmer's table that can only be described as magnificent. Matched by the beauty of the arrangement on the arbor, the bouquet and the vase arrangements. My son and daughter in law were amazed by the transformation of our yard. WE OWE IT ALL TO BRENDA! Without her dedication, we would have had a very different outcome. I'm sure there are many florists who create beautiful floral arrangements. I am certain that there are no others who would have done what Brenda did for us. Dedication to her client is the best way to say it. So, if you are just starting your journey to find a florist and you think to yourself "she seems distracted, I'm not sure I am her priority?" Know that you are not her priority that day because the person whose event is the next day is her priority. But I guarantee that you will be her only priority when it is your day. And I am certain you will be amazed by what she creates for you and by how much she cares about you.
