I was in town and checking out downtown Portsmouth and was happy to find this store as I was looking for some gifts. This is a wonderful store and I had some wonderful service from the owner and the male employee (dressed to the nines in Celtic clothing!). There's tons of products from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Cornwall ranging from clothes, fragrances, jewelry, glassware/cookware, foods/drinks and much much more. I browsed each section and found wonderful items and was even provided recommendations/historic information about somethings. What I really appreciated was the level of customer service and care, they graciously packed some items for me in boxes since they knew they were gifts and a big gift basket. I absolutely *ADORE* this shop! I stumbled onto it by accident one day and have been back 3-4 times for gifts for others and myself while I was at it heh heh heh...I live almost an hour away, but it's well worth the trip every time. The owner is such a doll, and the young man who works there is a knowledgeable sweetheart as well. They have such great, varied products (I'm talking jewelry, kilts, some Celtic weaponry, glassware, food, decorations - hell - I even got a book of Irish Gaelic tattoo translations last time!!! ) and the prices are really reasonable. Great store to pick up some imported Cadbury chocolates! This store is conveniently located downtown Portsmouth right near the Whale Wall parking lot, since there's little to no street parking ever available, the whale wall is your best bet. Everything is pricey, but everything is imported, so it's understandable and totally worth it! read more

The owner, Karen Scott and her associate, Kate, provide the quintessential service. Karen is well traveled with a grounded attitude for the richness of cultures. She has collected beautiful jewelry, clothing, gifts, and foods for purchase. In addition she rents Kilts and even makes them for purchase. My wife, Wendy, and I just left there with a new Scottish tie, and Irish cap for me, and jewelry for Wendy. Karen made notes on both Wendy's and my interests so if she finds anything, she'll take a picture, contact us, and if we buy it, she'll ship it. All this done with warm friendly smiles and stories. This was a neat shop with tons of great items! Staff was super friendly and couldn't have been more helpful! I bought a hand-made matted Irish blessing and the staff helped me order 3 other pieces from the same artist. The main staff member kindly gave me a website she recommends to search the origins of my Irish family name after she overheard me and my mom discussing how it differed from some other versions/spellings. There's another, slightly more "authentic" Irish store down the street a ways if you're interested. This was a nice store too, though. It sold BAGPIPE parts, if you can believe it. I've never seen that before. The reason why I say the other store is more "authentic" is because this one was chock-full of Guinness shirts and hat in the back - and a Leprachaun Halloween outfit as well. Faith N' Beggorah! Say it ain't so, laddie! But they do sell kilts, and ties and some cool jewelry here. Lady behind the counter was helping a man get some tartan items - I listened in and she knew what she was talking about in getting him hooked up. Very nice shop and VERY nice shopkeepers. They had quite an assortment of Irish goods. I was interested in a specific jewelry item but unfortunately they did not have it. They did show me some other interesting jewelry pieces but those pieces would not go with other items that I have. They were a lovely couple to talk to and if I had more time in Ogunquit, I would have probably gone back. read more

Immense assortment of goods straight from Ireland. My partner and I stopped in on St. Patrick's Day and picked up a few items. Blood sausage, a wallet, a cute sheep and a gorgeous claddagh pendant. The ladies behind the counter were lovely. I wish I had a fortune to spend as I saw at least 10 items that I really wanted but just couldn't justify purchasing. I can't wait to stop in again the next time I find myself in the ever-awesome downtown Portsmouth! read more

Great experience working with these ladies! We did a Vegas vow renewal for my wife's birthday, and knew we wanted Celtic rings. Hillary was a terrific help with picking out our rings, and Kate and Karin walked us through the rest. Karin was very helpful with getting our rings to us on time for a vow renewal trip. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this store. The staff was very knowledgeable and genuinely pleasant. My husband was able to get all kinds of information he's been curious about and picked up a utility kilt that he absolutely loves! Given the two choices for Celtic shops in downtown, I would choose this one for the friendly, personal service and a more authentic, less commercial feel. read more
