I LOVE this store!! It has such cute & fun stuff in here for sale. Prices are a hit or miss as they had some cute makeup-like bags for $10 which I found to be over priced since the material was thin & felt cheap. They have a wall with a bunch of gag gifts which I'm always up for pranking my friends & family. They're are some inappropriate things that are not children friendly but they did have some children's gifts in here so I would be careful about bringing your young children in here as there are things that as a parent you may not want them to see. Lots of magnets, stickers, lists on pads of paper, fake poop, baby onesies with hilarious sayings on them. Check out my photos' for some of the fun items for sale in here. This is a store you must stop in to check out. read more

I'm trying to understand what the big draw is for this place. Our hostess took us here and told us how amazing it is. I'd say there are some cute/ humorous things available to purchase. I'd also say for every item on that list there are 10 junk / ridiculous items of dollar store quality at tourist prices. I didn't see anything I'd say was truly unique. Essentially, it's a joke store, Spencer's, main street store and tourist shop all in one. The goal appears to be adult-ish humor, tho I'm guessing it's around the Ace Ventura level... read more

Omg this place is fun!!! Not really suitable for children in that there's a lot of adult humor. Just be prepared to have to do a lot of explaining. I could have stayed in here for easily two hours however it was getting super crowded. I definitely bought a few things for friends. The great thing about this place is you can also take pictures. Other stores like this in "tourist areas" have a no pictures policy... idk I would highly recommend this place for silly novelty gifts and cards. The prices weren't bad, especially when you consider this is "speciality" stuff. The only staff I saw around were the ones at the register area. They were nice and seemed amused by the conversations and laughter they were seeing throughout the store. I can't wait to go back! Lol read more

Such a fun shop! We got a few souvenirs here. They have so many fun options and great prices! read more

Macro Polo - Toy Stores Near Me - Portsmouth, New Hampshire

Great little shop in downtown Portsmouth. Great sense of humor. Excellent risqué and kitschy stuff from cards and gifts to fake poop. Everyone who goes in should find at least one item to purchase. Chock full of really whimsical stuff that might offend you, but will make you laugh. read more

We loved stopping in this cute store. There were lots of fun things to buy and friendly staff. We Loved the items and funny merchandise they offered--great items for yourself or buying a gift for friends. read more

I cannot lie! I came in here because we are visiting our daughter in New Hampshire and watching our 6 year old granddaughter for two weeks. We were coming back from visiting the Seacoast Science Center and had some extra time after lunch. Well she wanted to visit her big sister at work and where does big sister work? At Macro Polo. We were lucky enough to get a parking spot in the lot directly across the street and surprise our oldest granddaughter with a visit from us and her little sister. Am I a bit biased because our granddaughter works here? Of course, but this place was amazing even if she didn't work here. They have all kinds of quirky gifts you just won't find anywhere else. Plus the staff working there when we went in (the owner and our granddaughter) were extremely nice and obviously enjoy working there. (OK - that was the biased part.) If you are a tourist and want something that will truly remind you of your visit to Portsmouth, or if you are just looking for that oddball gift for a friend, this is a great place to shop. read more

The best place for gifts for everyone! You will find something here for everyone on your gift list. We don't make a trek out to Portsmouth without stopping in! The unique gift for your special someone is here. read more

What a quirky store! Need a random gift for someone? Come to Macro Polo as there is something here for everyone. From t-shirts to bumper stickers to bacon-everything to a real toilet filled with fake poop... You can't get bored wandering around this store. While visiting from Buffalo, New York, I was walking around Portsmouth, New Hampshire with two of my Aunts when my Aunt Sharon told me Macro Polo was my GRANDMOTHER'S favorite store when she used to visit. WHAT?! Awesome. Check this store out if you're in a bad mood, need a laugh, or have a great sense of humor. The whole store is covered in fun. There's something for everyone. read more

Chloe, you nailed it. Need some stocking stuffers for a frumpy relative? Want to leave something bizarre on a co-worker's desk? Here you go. I have a hard time giving it five stars because after the first few times, I start to uncontrollably roll my eyes, but it makes me smile so I'll give it 4. If you work your way over to Macro Unleashed, you can find some fun stuff for your neighbor's dogs (uh oh, what if my neighbor's a yelper?) Anyway, it's a fun store to stop in, especially right before Christmas or April Fool's Day. read more

We were desperate in of a replacement Pocket pup for my son! He is almost 17 yrs old and lost one of his pups on a flight. We have been looking in every local store. My daughter told me she bought it here so I reached out to them. Needless to say we had our pocket pups the next day! Thank you Jennifer! You have made one little guy extremely happy! You went above and beyond. read more

I absolutely love this store, I could seriously spend hours in here looking at everything and playing with all the toys they have on display. If you're looking for a funny, raunchy, or semi-pervy gift, this is your place! They also have retro toys, lunch boxes, pin/buttons, a corner dedicated to Jesus, and a pretty cool greeting card selection. When you're in town, don't pass this shop up, its a must see! read more

I love this place. Nothing but novelty items, retro toys, and silly gifts. Wide selection of Jesus paraphernalia, naughty novelties, and classic joke shop gags. And it's such a relief to see the centrally located toilet, filled to the rim with plastic poop. My first grader loves it. (OK, so do I!) A fun shop for the whole family. read more

Macro Polo - Fart Candy? Check! - Toy Stores Near Me - Portsmouth, New Hampshire

I always loved this store as a kid. Its been there since I was a munchkin if not longer, I purchased my first good yo-yo here. Filled with a mix of children's toys and hipster toys, its a cool respite from the art, clothes, and more art in downtown Portsmouth. read more

A little under 2 years ago, I was going through a tough transition, and was kinda wallowing in my sorrows. One of my true blue BFFs put up with my crap for about a week, whereupon she announced it was tough love time; and I was gently yet firmly advised to pull up my big girl panties and shut the fuck up. And so I did.... Fast forward to a year later, and I find myself in Portsmouth, wandering around Macro Polo, giggling at the rubber turds and penis penne pasta. And I come across a door covered in fridge magnets. My eyes fall across one with a woman who looks a bit like Rosie the Riveter, with the words "Pull up your big girl panties and shut the fuck up" That magnet now hangs on said BFFs fridge, as a testament to her good advise and how well it's paid off. read more

The most random collection of weird items probably ever. If you are ever bored just wander around in here, guaruntee if you have sense of humor you'll be in there at least half hour-45 min. Bought my mom bacon soap, bacon toothpaste and bacon chewing gum from here. Dont worry... She never actually used any of it! read more

The stores in Salem have tons of lines especially in October. This store had tons of sticker options and the coffee mug I was looking for as well as shirts. We were able to get our touristy gifts at one stop rather than having to stop at multiple stores and be in tons of lines. read more

We had so much fun browsing in here. I could have probably spent a couple hours looking at everything and laughing. We seriously contemplated buying the Adam and Eve mug that has the genitals covered by fig leaves which disappear when a hot liquid is added. We just peed our pants thinking of giving it to our Mother in Law who is quite fond of the bible. But, then we realized she'd never use it so it would be a waste. But, truly funny LOL things in here. Tons of funny books and knick-knacks. I do agree they should get some shades in front. I was sweating which made me want to leave sooner than later (in the middle of winter!). read more

Those who love cool crap, please say aye! Random toys, adult novelty items, tiny babies and pigs- This is the place to go if you don't want to spend money, aren't looking for anything, but know deep down in your heart you'll be pulling out your wallet. Come on! Don't ask yourself if you really need the boxing nun- you do! Ok? read more

What's that, you say? You need vintage/comical postcards, a nifty/gag/quirky/unique gift, and a book about miscellaneous randomness? - - - then this is where you need to be. This is my FAVORITE little shop in Portsmouth!!! *Such an odd array of items: dice, little plastic soldiers, fake doo-doo, chia pets, magnetic toys; then there are more "adult" gifts (like penis/boobie pasta, man magnets, and then new-parent gifts); t-shirts, religious gags, political gifts, and then an interesting selection of hot sauces. *A tiny little shop! *Staff must have FUN working there (always smiling - always up for a laugh). There's always something to see, something for everyone, always a laugh! read more

Interesting store - lots of cool gifts. Found some really awesome just and the staff was very helpful.

Do you like pirates? Rubber chickens? Fake mustaches? Macro Polo is a great place to shop for gifts. They carry pretty much something for everyone, but primarily cater to smart-asses. They also stock SUCK UK products, which are a great find. read more

This is definitely on my list of go-to spots when I'm chilling in Portsmouth for the day. Love all the crazy stuff - and there is a ton to see. Lots of great gag gifts and legit gifts too (you know, if someone wants a miniature wind-up baby). I really love their assortment of wall art - got an awesome vintage owl print for just a few bucks. Awesome! read more

I think part of my affinity to this place is that it means that I am not in the madness of Boston, and am usually recently paid. A bit on the pricy side for me, but it has all the poop-joke toys a girl could dream of. I get all my gifts there, because sometimes people like gag gifts more than the really 'spensive ones. And usually they are group-oriented toys, so everyone can play. read more

The perfect topping to a lovely weekend in Portsmouth! This adorable little shop features tons of trinkets and toys to keep you browsing for hours. Oddly, as a adult I started a tin robot collection which to my delight Macro Polo understands. Aside from that tons of pranks, gag gifts, funny cards, neat stationary, toys, and coffee table books. The perfect place to find little present toppers for all your friends. (Thought I hated it, Meagan N. LOVED the potty filled with fake poop). Cute selection for new parents and the home. Staff is pretty friendly and prices are reasonable too. read more

I was drawn to this gift shop by a sign that said coloring books up for adults. I picked up a bunch of nice coloring books for some senior citizens I know that love to color. The books are very different and unique. The other gifts in the store were very nice and fairly priced. Very friendly staff too read more

Holy GLARE, Batman! Will this place PLEASE invest in some window shades!?! Walking around in here in the late-afternoon is near-impossible without being COMPLETELY BLINDED by the sun GLARING in through the huge front windows. It's like a sauna in here. So, that's minus a star. This is a gag-gift / toy store. Mostly filled with crass stuff inside. Maybe some games and puzzles and things like fake knives with retractable blades. You get the idea... read more

Oh Macro. I always find something in here to make me laugh. When I was in high school, I used to come in for their selection of colorful studded belts, which they no longer have. I also bought my friend an entire bacon themed Christmas gift here one year, starting with bacon lunchbox, filled with bacon flavored dental floss, bacon flavored chapstick, bacon flavored mints, bacon scented air freshener...you get the picture. Fake poop? They have it. Selection of mustache goods? Yup. Punching nuns? Mmmhmm. Books of awkward drinking games and oddly shaped ice cube trays? Indeed. Some of my best scores here: *My husband's duct-tape wallet. Complete with lifetime warranty from company. Going on three years now with this thing. Great. *Locally made bottle-top earrings, I have the Magic Hat variety, bought my friend the Moxie ones. Get nothing but compliments on them. *Assorted greeting cards. From birthdays to weddings, they come in every variety from snarky to allllmost serious. This store is just filled with good karma. read more

Extremely dissatisfied with the service I experienced today at Macro Polo. I have been to Macro Polo multiples times and I'm sure I'll go again, as I do love their selection of quirky and silly items, but I wish to never experience the rudeness I received from the workers. Being a soon to be college student with thousands in debt, I asked if Macro Polo offers a student discount, not that it would change whether I was buying anything or not. A yes or no answer would've been fine, but the tone of voice and disgust in the workers face made me embarrassed that I asked. I felt ashamed for asking. She responded with a "no" which is a totally fine answer, but it was her tone of voice which made it so infuriating. Not only was that so unprofessional, but she was also on her phone while responding to me. I think it's okay for workers to check their phone, but being on it the whole time and responding to me like a bratty seventh grader made my experience so unenjoyable, I immediately put away my soon to be purchased stuff and walked out. I'm sure I will be back, as I do love this store and won't let one experience ruin my opinion, but I really hope the blond worker got her attitude in check and learns how to treat customers respectfully, because if she stays that unprofessional customers like me eventually won't come back. read more

Horrendous customer service. My wife was looking for a gift for our daughter. We both had our masks on as we normally do. My wife's mask slipped down accidentally and we were met with a loud and piercing angry voice shouting across the store "ma'am pull your mask up!" The whole store got quiet and everyone stared at my wife. She was very upset and embarrassed. we both believe in and understand the need to wear our masks however the store clerk could have been more discreet and polite about enforcing the policy. It was an honest mistake but the clerk made it clear that she was going to make a dramatic scene out of it. Be aware of possibly being publicly ostracized because of an honest mistake. read more

Awesome store. I always drop in to scoop up a birthday gag gift or something small for my niece and nephew. Last time we took them inside it took an hour to get them out. Macro Polo is always packed and a little tricky to move around in there, but that just add to the chaos and cool factor. ps don't turn around there.. go down to the odd showroom a few doors down the street. read more

I am a native New Yorker who has visited family in New Hampshire at least twice per year for the passed 18+ years. When I was a child we would often visit Downtown Portsmouth and Macro Polo was always my favorite place to visit. They carry fun and interesting items. I recently visited Macro Polo again after a few years away and I have to say I believe I enjoy the store more now than I did then. I love the note pad "lists" they carry. Hilarious. But I would have to say that my favorite item is the line of "Life is Crap" t-shirts. I bought a "Out of Beer. Life is Crap." shirt for my husband and a "Out of Chocolate. Life is Crap." shirt for myself. I found those to be the most appropriate for my husband and I however there are shirts that are a lot funnier than those. If you're ever in Downtown Portsmouth you have to stop in Macro Polo. It is a fun store for people of all ages. read more

Great gag gifts, cool little novelty kitchen gadgets *a mouse-shaped cheese grater comes to mind, as well as a temperature-changing water faucet light. There's way more stuff along these lines, you'll just have to see for yourself.*, a great line of Paul Frank stuff, nostalgic toy items, religious? novelty items *The Last Supper after dinner mints, anyone?*, to a myriad of hilarious books, magnets, lunchboxes, "Life Is Crap" tees, and oh so much more.
