I'm going to give two stars because the servers were great. One was training and they were both pleasant and efficient. I have been so looking forward to having a place we can regularly go to that is not a chain and has great food. It's not a chain, however, the food and cocktail that I had was not anything I would return for. We were a party of 4 and 3 of us ordered the burgers. All three burgers were way overcooked. The patties were on the thin side and although the menu description sounds delicious, these burgers were nowhere near worth $19.00 each. The other member ordered Chicken Cordon Bleu. The dish itself did not look good to be honest. He said the chicken was dry but the potatoes and vegetables were good. My cocktail was supposed to be a Lemon Drop Martini but was lacking the lemon juice it needed. Chris seems like a nice guy but he might want to do a bit more oversight of what could be a great little restaurant, instead of hanging outside at the table near entrance with friends and smoking. read more

I like the ambiance it is small and intimate. We had the Lobster Bisque and a up scale grilled cheese. It was delicious but it took a while for the food to come out. The waitress apologized and was very curious. We ask a couple who seemed to know the place well and they said the food was great and they came when they had lots of time for the meal. So, we will be back when we are able to relax while waiting for the food. read more

Jan 31 2025 Chris's was recommended and we were very disappointed. We were able to get a reservation for 4, day of which was surprising but thought we got lucky. All the reviews seem to be good to better than average. Chris's is not a Cheap place or an Outback / Applebees. Appetizers are 10-20, main dish is 30 - 60. I was anticipating spending 100-110 per person for this evening. Server we had was very professional and good to say the least. She was the only positive attribute of the establishment & evening. Ordered 3 appetizers, 1 beer and 3 waters. 10 min later we order our main dishes and wait. 2 beers later / 25 min, a staff member comes out saying they lost ticket. I reply no biggie stuff happens. Evening is still recoverable in my opinion. 30 min later the 1st appetizer comes out (escargot) watery and room temp. Tried to eat it and had to pass on it. 20 minutes later 1 more beer and another app comes out. Beer is good but the stuffed mushrooms were so so. 10 minutes later the pita bread & dip comes out and was on par. We wait for another 15 - 20 min and decide it was enough. An hour and 45 min waiting for to only get 3 beers and 1 average app is not good. We cut our losses and tried to salvage the rest of our evening elsewhere. We put like $40-$50 on the table and left. This place was not even 50% occupied. Maybe 25-30% Im not sure what happened this evening with Chris's. I am not from this area and have never been to this restaurant before. If this is the standard for this place this establishment will not be here in 45-60 days. If I were the owner or investor, I would be reconsidering my decisions and practices. read more

My family and I visited Chris' Place on whim the other night. We had heard great things about it. Thought the service was a bit slow, the atmosphere and food were delicious. If you are looking for a place to get drinks, they have a full bar and you definitely get your money's worth. Pictured here is the Cosmo I had. It was amazing! The braised short ribs are definitely worth ordering! They were mouthwatering. My daughter loved the Tuxedo Bomb she had for dessert. She said it's one of the best desserts she's had, and she would return just for that. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. Definitely a great place for a date night or a nice dinner with friends or family. Reservations are recommended, but they do have seats at the bar, and they just so happened to have an open table available for us when we came in. read more

We have been several times, and a better rating is about a 4.3 - 4.5. Not great - fried Zucchini. Portion was tiny for what you pay. We both laughed when it came it was so small! Credit where due tho - it was delicious and the aioli was yummy too. So 3 out 5. Great - French Onion Soup. Got a bowl, which was a soup crock. Excellent. Beefy, oniony, with a nice sized bread and cheese topping that didn't overwhelm the soup. A tad pricey, but yummy. So 4 out of 5. There is a cup too, which would be nice at times. Superb - Short Rib over Mashed. Dense, rich, and delicious. Zucchini Ribbons were a different twist. Even with price 5 out of 5 - but no salad or bread - just the entree. If you want those, they are 'extra'. Not ridiculously extra, just a few bucks. Service was friendly, wine list worked for us. Decor is modern, owner was on site, and lots of free parking. Eat outside (on the sidewalk) or in. Live music the night we were there , which I'm never a fan of - but that's just me, obviously many love it. Go early and walk the downtown or the boardwalk by the lake. Def suggest a reservation in season or on the weekend. Website is accurate and kept up to date. It just costs more to eat out now. It costs more to eat at home too. So my 'new normal' is questioning whether what I'm paying for is worth what I'm getting. Except for the zucchini - yes. So a solid four. New restaurant right in old downtown Eustis. Trying to be gourmet high end local eatery. Prices are definitely High. Waitress was great. Explained the menu items in detail. We were there for lunch. Several lobster (claw meat) dishes, including the infamous "Lobster Roll". The people who ordered it were satisfied . We mistakenly order their gourmet Burgers, medium rare. They arrived after a long time (30 minutes) and were over well done - Dry, flavorless, and very over cooked. We would have sent them back but afraid it would take another 30 minutes to arrive. Soups were very good - French Onion and Lobster Bisque. Desert was great also. Given the way too long wait time for the food to arrive, and the worst burger ever, we will not likely go back. Sad. We went to Chris' Place to celebrate our anniversary. The ambiance is quite nice, it's a small restaurant with an industrial vibe, but was still cozy. The seating is quite close together. We ordered the escargot which was served in a soup bowl with a lot of buttery broth. Alongside the snails were thinly sliced mushrooms. This was served with toasted bread points and was pretty good, but not spectacular. We then ordered a cup of the Lobster bisque and a cup of the onion soup. Both were yummy. Next came the entrees, the pork chop entree, and the braised short ribs. My husband loved the pork chop, it was juicy and well-prepared. I was however quite disappointed in the braised short rib, it was more like a filet mignon than a short rib. Normally short ribs are slow-cooked, so tender that they fall off the bone and melt in your mouth. This entree had none of those characteristics and was actually a little tough to eat. I've made short ribs at home, and they are always tender and delicious. Also had them at several other dining establishments, and never had a bad one until now. So disappointed. Dessert was the turtle cheesecake which was absolutely luscious. Our visit was kind of a mixed bag, I felt the pricing was a little high for the amount of food served, and not knowing how to properly prepare a dish(short rib) was disappointing. read more

We tried them for dinner. We had a party of six. Server was awesome. If you get alcohol stick to wine or beer, 3 of us ordered cocktails and they were not good. Apps tried were fried zucchini and crab cakes. The zuc were a tiny amount, like not all of us got to have more than one. Crab cakes were ok, you got 4 - 50 cent piece sized and they were just ok. The menu is good, but definitely pricey. Everyone had decent meals. Steak, halibut, lobster Mac n Cheese, scallop and shrimp Alfredo and the person who ordered medium rare hamburger, but got well. Mine, the pork chop, was delayed till about half way through every one eating, but the server made it right and it was really good. The risotto was under done and mushrooms not quite cooked. All and all pretty good and worth trying again. They just need to button up their mixologist and app service. For the 6 it was about $280 with all getting one drink each. read more

We tried this place for dinner, as we heard good things about it. Party of 2 for dinner. Arrived early, had our choice of tables. Wait staff is friendly but not the sharpest for a casual fine dining experience. Nice mellow atmosphere, place seems clean. Lobster bisque was very good. Scallops appetizer was meh... 3pcs over cooked, served on top of grated Brussel sprouts and had a balsamic drizzle over the scallops. You don't do that to a scallop! I had a grouper dish with risotto and asparagus. Risotto was tough and under cooked. Grouper was a very small portion and over cooked. The dish was just above being warm. Asparagus was grilled perfect. Other dish was a lemon thyme chicken with chopped potatoes and asparagus. Chicken was tender, but the dinner was just above being warm. Was an ok experience, definitely over priced for what you get. Really mediocre at best. For the meal prices, there are definitely better choices around. Both dishes were just under $40ea. 3 scallops were $18. read more

The Lobster Bisque was delicious with nice chunks of lobster in it but not even crackers to go with it. I had read the other review about how wonderful the Lamb Pops were, so I tried them. The onion sauce with them was wonderful but the lamb chops has no seasoning and were very fatty. I was really disappointed. read more

this was my first visit here, very nice ambience, friendly, and accommodating staff. I ordered the 6 ounce filet mignon, medium rare. Sadly it arrived at the table way over cooked. It did not appear to be a fillet mignon cut, the taste was very good, but for the price they were asking that should've been a true filet mignon. It should've been cooked perfectly. The entertainment was very enjoyable. my dining companion had the Alfredo pasta and shrimp, and indicated that it was very good. I knocked one star off because of the steak. We went here with a group of 6. The place is nice but the service was awful. We had to ask for napkins 3 x as the table although set for 6, only has 2 napkins at the place setting. Burgers are over priced for what you get. I had a salad with grilled chicken as was sick all evening with a stomach ache. One person ordered the escargot and said that although they were tender, she never had them served in cream of mushroom soup before. 2 people order the bowl off lobster bisque but although served in very large bowls, there was only a small cupful of soup on the bowl. We could see that the waitress was struggling keeping up with the crowd that was there that night and Chris did absolutely nothing to help. There were no apologies for slow or lack of service. I didn't expect much from this small restaurant in downtown Eustis, however I was delightfully surprised. I came downtown looking for a breakfast place and found very few options. Chris's place happened to have brunch and I thought to give it a try. I'm very happy that I did as the food was spectacular. Every dish had exceptional attention to detail and the quality of the ingredients can clearly be tasted. The staff was very kind and knowledgeable. I liked it so much that I decided to come back later for dessert and happened to meet the owner who was exceptionally nice and personable. The staff made it feel like you are home and definitely makes me feel like coming back. The dessert was incredible and Chris mentioned that it's made in a local bakery and that most of the ingredients come from local producers. I appreciate the support to the local community while providing outstanding food. Definitely going back. read more
