You know the yadda yadda about pleasing all the senses. Well, this place have done just that - the lovely servers with great sense of humor, the efficient busboys, and the upbeat but not noisy music. The service is quick - I prefer to cook the meats myself instead of being hovered over - so that is not an issue. Quality of the meats is pretty good. I like that there's fat where there should be, but portions is quite substantial as we surrendered after only a few meats. Next time, we will have to order half sizes so we can sample all the offerings. Comes with rice paper and salad. Available is also the green onion salad which I somehow missed out on ordering through my own fault. The salad dressing needs a tinge more sour and sweet in my opinion. Generous servings of side dishes whenever you ask for them. All in all, will return, for sure. read more

The only reason i went there again since the restaurant provided me one free AYCE for over charging the tip 3 times compared to the amount that I put; I normally put 18 percent for them but they put more than that. However one of the server made me feel so uncomfortable eating there. I can tell he was so rude to my table compared to the other customers. I thought I was being sensitive but my company felt the same way. He was explaining all the sides so friendly to the other tables; since they had a table right next to us. but when we ordered more meat he didn't say any word but just nodded his head, and when we asked him to change the grill he asked us "YOU WANT THIS?" For the meat that left on the grill. I'm not sure if I was being sensitive but it sounded pretty rude to me. If I were a server, I would've asked the customers "do you want me to take this?" Or "do you want to keep these?" Was it really hard for him to say POLITELY? Or maybe he thought we were gonna be the poor tippers since my company was hispanic and we had one baby? Besides, I had to keep asking the servers' attention to order more meat. I have no complaint to the Korean woman server who was trying to help us whenever she could and she saw us, but the man server who has a ponytails. Please don't be rude to the customers with a typical stereotypes. read more

Solid Korean BBQ. I introduced my mom the K BBQ after she visited LA a few times and she loves it. Every visit we try a new spot. This one did not disappoint! The establishment is clean and well lit. Our initial server was a bit of an air head...didn't know what was what, couldn't make a recommendation, had to "check" on nearly each question. Luckily...this wasn't enough to detract from the experience. They work as a team and we had a young gentleman server and he was absolutely fantastic. I can't remember his name but I remember his face. The food was fresh, the salad was excellent as well as all of the dishes brought along side the meat. Excellent food. Very clean and well maintained. The vents come low over the grill, capturing the exhaust and smells well. So everything was fine until it came to pay the bill, which I used a real $100 bill, these ridiculous people have the nerve to tell me in front of my girlfriend that it was fake, because the machine in the back kept saying so. I insisted they either needed to call the police or get the owner because I was not going to pay with anything else because this was a real hundred dollar bill that I just got out of the atm. You could see all the security measures on $100 bill but these idiots kept insisting in front of my girlfriend, that embarrassed the hell out of me, that this money was fake. They eventually ended up taking it after 20 minutes of debating and gave me my change. They didn't say anything about it, no apology, this place is horrible with the service that they would treat anybody like this. read more

This place was a pleasant surprise! Food and service were five stars for sure. They didn't skimp on the meet and the Kalbi and brisket was amazing!! Couldn't get enough. Only reason I gave it a 4 star was more for the smokiness of the place. Became a little hard to breath toward the end. We were sitting in the back by the kitchen but they didn't have the front door open. Honestly a little ventilation will go a long way for this place. But again, service and food was stellar. Wow, I was so taken back how decent this place was! The inside was a bit full and smoggy (doesn't seem like there's good air circulation inside) so we opted for the outside tables. The waitress came by and took our order. It took a little long for the banchan's to come out but wow. The potato salad, the cucumber kimchi, the bean sprouts, the kimchi, and the fishcake were all absolutely amazing. We ordered thirds of everything because it was that good. We came around 8:30pm & they did NOT rush us out of there, which we greatly appreciated. We even stayed a little past closing and they were all smiles, which was absolutely fantastic. I wasn't a fan of the brisket at all (it was way too tough and chewy) but their beef belly was excellent. Not only that, their rib-eye steak was PERFECT as well. We topped it with some salt that they had given us and it was absolutely perfect. Their green onion salad was just ok - I feel like it needs more dressing or marinade. The only cons: + their steamed egg was way overcooked. I was eating burnt egg soup and I didn't want to finish it. It wasn't silky or smooth, it was almost like it was a baked egg in the bowl. Definitely wouldn't order if I were to come back. + their radish paper isn't marinated quite right. It definitely needed to be sweeter. It felt like I was eating just a regular radish that was thickly cut instead of having that sweetness cut through the meat. I feel like they just need to change the marinade a little bit and it would be absolutely perfect. + their brisket sauce tasted like it was watered down. + the outside chairs really sink you in. the table was on the upper part of my chest and I had to constantly stand up and reach for things, which got annoying after a while. The service was impeccable though, the waiters and waitresses came by quite frequently to check on us, and always had a smile on their face! We definitely felt welcomed at this establishment and no one ever seemed annoyed by our requests, which we greatly appreciated. All in all, I would give this a 3.5 star rating. If I'm not willing to drive to K-town for KBBQ and don't want to spend $$$ on TK92 in San Gabriel, I'll definitely consider coming here! read more

Food is good quality. The speed at which it comes out is slow like others have mentioned. We had to ask for things multiple times, meat takes a while to come out so order it early, and we never did get our radish wraps. It seems they have two servers working the entire restaurant and 1-2 other people assisting. The speed got better at the end, our meal took about 2 hours minimum. At one point they brought us an egg we didn't order and I just took it because I didn't know when the other food would be coming (': AYCE ranges from 20-30 dollars depending on the menu you choose. The middle menu is $27 per person, which is on the higher end for AYCE for me. Meats that were tasty: -galbi, beef short rib -bulgolgi -Rib finger meat -brisket (Quick to cook) Sides that were tasty: -bean sprouts -cucumbers -potato salad (has raisins in it) -Kim chi (has a low kick) Unlimited sides. The ambiance was 1-1/2 stars. Virtually no ambiance. The restaurant was extremely crowded, so Good for them. The rating is based upon the Korean restaurants in the Korean community. I love this spot. Outside of KTown, this is one of my personal favorite places to go to. The interior is a bit dated, but the staff do a good job of keeping the place clean. The ventilation system could be better, but it's certainly not the worst place I've been to. Unless your grill is on max temp, it's not terribly smoky. The interior is pretty small and not too loud for a Korean BBQ place. The atmosphere is pretty cozy and homely, and the staff are all very friendly each time I've been. They are super attentive and great at coming around to take orders for different rounds and are also quick to refill drinks. This is not the kind of place where the staff will cook the meats for you, but honestly I prefer cooking everything myself. I like the side dishes here as well. Everything is on the sweeter side, but the flavors are very good. The meats here are amazing - my favorite is the ju mul luk which is incredibly tender and well-marinated. The marinades here are awesome, and the cuts of meat are generous. Even though the prices here are a little bit higher than in Koreatown, I like that their "standard" AYCE menu options has a wide variety. They limit you on some premium meats like ribeye, but honestly I don't need to eat more than two large steaks when there are so many other great options! The meat quality was all good, and thankfully the side dishes are pretty small to give you the option of eating fewer sides or ordering more yourself. Another great thing I like about this place is that there is plenty of parking. Unlike the terrible parking in KTown, there is a ton of street parking as well as a small lot in the back of the restaurant - all free. This is a great spot to go to with a small group. Highly recommend it; I prefer to go to this place most of the time over Koreatown just for the lack of traffic and the easy parking honestly! read more

As we were seated, we looked at the menu and ordered 3 meat dishes. They came out with them right away and the sides too. I really suggest their brisket and beef tongue. Their restaurant is clean and the service was great. Order the radish that's on their side to eat with the meat. You get what you pay for too; so, it's worth it! You can either sit inside and use the built-in grills to cook your food wall watching the game (whichever one is on), or you can sit outside with the table grills and be under a shade (great for summer nights). Came here on a week night, they accept reservations but found it wasn't crowded. This place has good ambiance for conversing with friends, I'm getting old so I don't like the Korean BBQ places that blast K-Pop and the Happy Birthday song every 20 minutes. We went with the Combo A, AYCE there is not much different from the B combo just no seafood options like shrimp, squid or octopus, it's not a bad deal at $25. Service was absolutely on point, drinks refilled several times and servers coming in at regular intervals asking if we were ready to order the next course. A friend approved of the dipping sauces one of them slightly sweet with a kick of horseradish. We just went down the list to order, sticking to the beef menu items and were happy campers, the steak took longer to cook, but you get heavy duty shears to cut meat into more manageable sizes. My favorite was the short ribs while a friend found the spicy bulgogi to be theirs, ordering multiples of these. The thinly sliced beef brisket was had a disproportionately large amount of fat to meat ratio, but the favor was really good and since it was so thin cooked very fast. At the end of the meal I found their "Korean miso soup" or Doenjang jjigae to be a perfect finisher, slightly spicy with a salty clear broth. I've been to Chris' Korean BBQ many times over the years, even invited lots of friends to eat there. We've generally been happy with their food and service. However, last night we ordered delivery from Chris' via DoorDash, and I got severe food poisoning from it. I had bulgogi BBQ + mixed tofu soup, which includes seafood like shrimp, clams, and calamari. Not long after dinner, my stomach didn't feel right. Fast-forward to around midnight, several hours after dinner, the food just sat in my stomach like a brick, not being digested and I felt more sick - a telltale sign of food poisoning, and that was my body telling me that my stomach contents shouldn't be digested but needed to be purged. Sure enough, not long after that came the vomiting, diarrhea, the chills, the works (sorry, TMI). I was miserable all night and could not sleep for more than a few minutes even hours after I had thrown up, because the spoiled food had done a number to my body, and was still wreaking havoc. It's now almost noon the following day, and I am still having serious GI distress, diarrhea, and some other symptoms of food poisoning, and I don't have one bit of appetite whatsoever - and it doesn't feel like my appetite is returning anytime soon. I'm 95% sure that it was the tofu soup that was spoiled, as it's highly perishable (especially with the seafood medley that's in it). It's likely that it wasn't freshly made and/or wasn't properly stored and kept at the proper temperatures. A clear confirmation of this is that within a few hours of the leftover tofu soup sitting in room temperature, it took on a very strong sour, spoiled food odor. Basically, it seems that it was already spoiled and the spoilage was just significantly accelerated after being left out a little longer. By the way, I'm very well versed in food poisoning and food safety, being a former Registered Dietitian and also I've been a food scientist for nearly 20 years, so I'm no just a layman making uneducated guesses. Lastly, I want to make it clear that while this review is negative, I'm not trying to write a "hit piece." I want to let the ownership and management at Chris' know that I contracted severe food poisoning from their food, as well as warn other customers of this incident, so the former can hopefully make changes, are more careful with their food safety protocols, and prevent this from ever happening again to other customers. Trust me, I wouldn't wish severe food poisoning even on my worst enemies, so I hope this serves to prevent future incidents. Cheers and stay healthy, y'all. read more

Hadn't been here in a while (not since they changed the name and presumably the management). Layout is the same. The food is AYCE with two tiers. Tier A has pretty much everything I would want, so I went with that ($24.99). The seasoned and spicy bulgogi had good flavor, but were cut up a bit too small. The last batch we ordered wasn't really flavored, but it was actually quite tender and better cut. I also enjoyed the galbi because it cooked quickly, but the portions for that are rather small (but since it's unlimited it doesn't really matter). In addition to the AYCE, we also tried the bibimbap and the spicy cold noodles. The bibimbap was ok, but definitely needed a lot of sauces for flavor + it didn't have enough of that crunchy rice goodness at the bottom. The cold noodles were definitely not for me. The texture is off and the flavor was kinda bland. I'd definitely say when you visit, stick to the AYCE and use the buzzer on the table to get service, as they can get busy and forget about you otherwise. Stay Cheerful ;) read more

First stop in LA - All You Can Eat Korean BBQ in Pasadena... yesss! It was about an hour and a half drive from the airport, but Alana was a good sport and went the distance to meet Val and Hazel who were in the area. Sue had a long drive, too, but she wasn't last to arrive! Tim was a good cook, so he earned his seat at our table... The first good thing about Chris' is the free parking. There's a lot in the back - so convenient! Another good thing is that it's not as crowded like other restaurants in Koreatown - we didn't have to wait to be seated - and they even gave us a semi-private room. The decor is modern; the air conditioning and ventilation system is good; it's bright and spacious; there's a clean restroom; and the service is friendly and pleasant! We did have to ask for water refills and other things, but that's minor. They changed our grills and took away our used dishes as soon as they could. For $24.99 (set A) plus tax and tip, we ate beef belly, pork jowl, beef tongue, boneless marinated kalbi, beef brisket, and The Sampler which included kalbi with bones, marinated chicken, and spicy pork. The banchan, vegetable pancake, spicy miso soup, and steamed egg were all good. We all left happy and full! I think we'd return again if we were in the area! read more

Such a good reliable AYCE kbbq spot in the city. The meats are delicious, fresh and tender. The thin sliced brisket is the best. Everything came fairly quick and the all you can eat kept our plate full. We really enjoyed our meal and a chance to indulge. Came in during a not so busy time yesterday.. probably only 4 tables taken, however, this is super busy for only two servers. I feel really bad because they're so busy and could use another person. The food is pretty okay here as well. It wasn't the most high quality either but it wasn't the worse. I like the rib eye the most but they only offer that one per two people per table. The galbi was also great. It's a cute little restaurant and a lot easier to find parking than going to KTown. They have parking right in the back and so many street parking as well.
