The aftermarket brakes installed by a previous owner of my 2014 Mustang GT failed (pedal went…read morestraight to the floor while coming to a stop on US 380 - that was fun), which required a tow. I came to a stop in front of Safari Towing (convenient!), who were prepared to tow me back home at my request, so that I could investigate the problem myself. After talking with the driver about what just happened, he suggested that we swing by Butler first (it was on the way), since I expressed concern with taking a heavily modified vehicle to a regular shop. Paraphrased, he said "These guys are used to working on cars like yours". Can't hurt to at least talk to 'em. So we did. Within 5 minutes of meeting Alex, I was confident that his shop could be trusted to perform the work. He "gets it". I told him what was up with the current state of the vehicle as I understood it (it's always tricky buying an "enthusiast" vehicle from an...enthusiastic prior owner who's done a lot of unknown mods), and that I wanted the factory Brembo package (it was originally a Track Pack car) to be installed. Whatever billable research was required to figure out what the previous owner did, and what needed to be undone to achieve this, was fine by me. Ladies and gentleman, he over delivered. The aftermarket brakes that were installed on the car, required modifications to the mounts on the factory steering knuckles - necessitating replacement (and all the labor that entails) to return it to factory. As sure as I'm sitting here, he replaced the pads, rotors, calipers, brake lines, knuckles, etc such that the car now had the Brembo package it originally came with for ~$1,400. All in. Parts, labor - all of it. Friends, that's not too far off from what it would cost me to order all the parts online, and do it myself in my home garage - which I was prepared to do. And he did it without me lifting a finger. And he did a damn good job. I could not be more happy with the quality of the work, the attention to detail, the ongoing communication, and the over the top fair pricing. This dude is my new go-to for ANYTHING I don't feel like doing myself. If I could give him 6 stars, I would.

Beware of duplicate labor charges, extreme hourly rates, and scheduling games…read more I hired D&D Mobile Mechanics for front suspension and wheel hub work on my family's AWD SUV. While the initial diagnostic visit was fine (for which I paid an $80 fee that was promised to go toward future repairs), the billing and customer service that followed were deeply concerning. 1. Blatant Labor Stacking: Their initial quote was $800+ in labor alone (with me supplying 100% of the brand-new parts). Included in their quote was a $140 line item specifically to replace hardware and links that are already required to be disassembled to replace the struts and wheel hubs. They were essentially charging standalone book rates for parts they already had to remove for the primary jobs. 2. Extreme Hourly Rates (By Their Own Admission): Because this was a major front-end job involving struts and hubs on driveway jack stands, I asked for a first-morning slot to ensure proper daylight, rather than a late afternoon arrival window. In response, their dispatcher dismissed my concerns and put in writing that: "these are straightforward repairs... it would take a couple of hours, and that's true." Consider the math: If this is truly a 2-hour job, their labor quote represents an effective rate of $340 to $420 per hour for driveway labor in cash/Zelle. That is higher than exotic luxury dealership rates, done on residential concrete. If it actually takes 4 to 5 hours (the standard time on jack stands), then forcing a late afternoon start meant recklessly rushing critical steering and bearing work into the dark. 3. The Scheduling Runaround: Communication was very slow, with basic scheduling texts going unanswered for nearly 20 hours. When I asked to simply reschedule to the following week for an open morning slot, the dispatcher stonewalled, claimed their calendar had zero morning openings for weeks, admitted they are "a small business with 1 mechanic & limited availability," and pushed me to cancel. They essentially pocketed an $80 diagnostic fee, attempted to bill $350+/hr for driveway labor, and gave me the runaround the moment I insisted on fair labor overlap and adequate daylight. Save yourself the frustration and take your vehicle to an established, brick-and-mortar local shop with hydraulic lifts and transparent billing.
