Fresh, nothing is skimped, food is delicious. Ordered the baked lobster bowl and asked for it to be 1/2 scallops & 1/2 lobster. The bowl had big portions! I only ate 1/2 & I have a hearty appetite. I love that 1/4 of the bowl had lots of fresh vegetables too. The baked lobster & scallop was just like a Baked Mussel Dynamite dish that you see or eat various sushi/buffet places. All I can say is WOW !!! The food here is so delicious, I can't wait to come back for more . I don't live in Lompoc but I would take the trip , just to dine at this hidden gem again . So the fiancé and I decided to check this place out and try something different last night since it was pouring down rain and we had nothing in the house to make for dinner. The restaurant was nearly empty with only 1 other table besides our own, but with the weather the way it was and being 8:00 understandable. I saw the jalapeño shrimp bombs on yelp and had to give those a try. It's basically just a deep fried sushi roll with jalapeño cream cheese shrimp and imitation crab Wrapped in nori, fried, topped with spicy mayo and eel sauce. That being said for 8.95 and how big it is, it's a pretty good deal and quite delicious. We kept the entrees basic, I got the teriyaki chicken with beef bowl and my fiancé got the all beef bowl. Each bowl was 9.95 and with all the rice and veggies and miso that are included it's also a really good deal, especially for dinner. The chicken was tasty, though we were less than satisfied with the beef. I didn't think it was bad but I probably wouldn't get the beef again. We just weren't expecting the flavor of the beef to be what it was. I believe the menu said teriyaki with Korean bbq. I don't think there was any teriyaki and we are accustomed to Korean bbq being spicy and this was very sweet. My fiancé said the beef reminded him of canned beef stew lol although I didn't quite agree with that assessment. All in all everything was eaten, and I would go back to try their other options, probably without the fiancé. The service was fine, nothing great nothing bad. We live about 2 minutes from Chow Ya, and its taken us waaaaaayyyyyyy too long to come here!!!! We finally tried it tonight and we will be back soon! Ordered to go, waited for less then 10 minutes. Lady at the front was very nice and helpful in answering my questions. I ordered us chicken fried rice and chicken yokisoba as well as a side of miso soup for me. Not only was the food fresh and flavorful, the portions are bigger than any other place serving yokisoba in town. Tons of chicken in both dishes. The miso was spot on for my taste also, full of flavor only wish the miso had some tofu but not a deal breaker by any means. Side note, these guys have the best chop sticks I've ever used! Then four entrees - fish cutlet rice bowl, chicken udon soup, popcorn loster rice bowl and Unagi Don (Fresh eel rice bowl). stuffed Jalapeno shimp is a "must try" item. Fish cutlet - more less american style, good portion. Chicken udon soup - good amount of chicken and noodle Popcorn loster rice bowl - good proportion of rice / veggie / loster. Popcorn loster tastes super good. Unagi Don - added vegetables is good touch Everything has a very generous portion. It does take a while to wait for the food but I think it worths. Gina is a wonderful host! The food is spectacular! Do yourself a favor, call ahead and confirm that the jalapeño bomb appetizer is available and then plan to go -- it's not spicy at all because they've taken such good care to remove the seeds. The sauces on top are rich and tangy. It's seriously something you much experience to understand! Noodles are great, but portions are huge, so there's plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. The ramen was so perfect - I could eat it every day (along with the jalapeño bomb appetizer). One note: be patient. I've only seen one staff at the front and maybe just one or two in the kitchen. Lunch and dinner rush are very busy and you could wait a while. If you're in a rush, don't risk it. Go on a day you can bring your hunger and patience and relax! read more

The restaurant was immaculate and decor is very nice. My wait was not long at all, about 10 minutes. The food was packaged well-sometimes soup to go can be a mess. The portions were surprisingly generous! The beef broth was absolutely delicious-they kindly put the noodles separately so they would not soak up the broth! The fried rice had so much to it and was really tasty. We were able to get three meals for the two of us with the generous portions. We will definitely recommend Chow Ya! read more

Went there with my daughter for lunch. i hadn't been there in a while so I was super excited to go! The server was super sweet and attentive no issues there. We both orders the "Cucumber Salad" it's extremely misleading and extremely disappointing. I added Mango to both my and my daughters luckily we did because if not we would have ate a plate of pickles! You literally get a plate of pickled pickles. No other garnishes added no actual lettuce, carrots, tomatoes NOTHING!!!! Extremely disappointed and paid almost $10 per dish of pickles that taste the same as bread and butter pickles. Nothing about what we got was a " salad" . It should be removed under salads and put under the appetizer section. Needless to say we both left hungry and bummed by lunch! $50 later and I still tipped the server $10 . It's so hard to find some perfect ramen. Found it at this place and I will definitely be returning. Ordered some ramen soup with a miso base, not spicy. Added gyoza (potstickers) also added egg and cheese. The vegetables in the ramen soup: bean sprouts, cabbage, mushrooms, green onions and zucchini. Each on tasted very fresh and crisp but all were cooked to perfection. Not soggy, not too raw. The amount was more than enough for one person, I could've shared it or taken some home but I just pigged out and ate it all for lunch. The ramen was only 7.95 but adding gyoza was 3 dollars, egg was 2 dollars and cheese was 2 dollars. So all in all it was like 15 dollars for a fresh and super bomb and filling ramen. Environment: good - somewhere between casual and classy kinda. Large dining area that doesn't seem super efficient. Quality: excellent- fresh and tasty as heck Cost: good - for the amount of food you're given Service: fair - took a couple mins to be seated before they noticed but were super attentive after that. I had no idea this place existed until the husband brought me along for a coworkers' going away lunch. It's got a fair amount of space on the inside and looks fairly new. The tables and chairs are movable so it is not difficult to seat a large party together. The menu had a varied selection. Pork, beef and fish all seemed to be available in the majority of the menu items. I selected the spicy seafood udon pasta and was not disappointed. The sauce holding everything together in this dish had a nice kimchi flavoring at it's base that was unexpected but delicious. It came with mussels, clams, scallops, and other tidbits. Outstanding experience with a large group for a work lunch (employee send-off). I usually rate this restaurant 4 stars (I don't give out many 5-star reviews), but the service and preparedness for our large group bumps this review to 5-stars. I reserved a table with 16 seats the day before with no problem and I called them the next day 30 mins before opening to let them know that we need 24 seats. They had no problem with this and our table was completely set up at opening time (11am). Service was phenomenal! All diners got their food and drinks promptly. Everyone got what they ordered, and the food came out hot/fresh for everyone. I randomly asked some attendees what they thought of chow ya afterwards and I didn't get any negative comments. I was impressed that the restaurant kept up with 24 people. We had one waitress and she was flawless. The kitchen was definitely prepared for such an influx. As always, the food was great! I got the spicy ramen with beef and egg this time. Very flavorful, packed with tons of umami with bulgogi-marinated beef, poached egg, and various treasures hidden within to include fresh shitake. My mom and I had a craving for ramen and after reading the reviews for this place, I felt like this was the place to go. We both got the pork ramen, hers medium spicy and mine non spicy. When I got home, at first glance, both ramens looked comparable to the cooked bricks of noodles you buy for 19 cents a piece at the grocery store...definitely nothing special. We went on to pour our ramens into bowls and to my dismay, my ramen had absolutely no broth!! Where did it go?! The noodles had turned to a pile of squiggly mush, quite obviously because they had absorbed all of the broth since everything was not kept separate, which is how most ramen is packed up for to-go orders. Luckily, my mother's noodles had retained enough texture and integrity to actually somewhat enjoy...I got so grossed out by my ramen that I ended up eating some of my mom's.. I won't be going to this place again. It's a bummer that there are only 2 places in Lompoc that offer ramen on their menu...well, it's down to 1 now! As we stepped in we saw that the place was popular with the locals (police officers, artists, etc.), this is a good sign (of good food and low prices).
