I finally had a chance to try Petit Trois for a post-Pantages lunch…read more My mom, aunt, and I made reservations for 4:30pm on a Sunday (which was not necessary, they had plenty of room.) The indoor seating was bar tops only and their tables are outside in the makeshift patio, since they are located in a shopping center with Yum Yum Donuts. We didn't love how in order to park in the lot we had to pay the $17 valet fee even though there were plenty of spaces. I feel like that service should only be mandatory during peak dining hours. Anyways, the host and hostess were both very nice and walked us to our table. The host/our waiter for the first half of the meal made some recommendations and shared what the daily special was. To drink, I had the Spritz which was good - nothing to write home about, but it got the job done. We started our meal with a fresh baguette and homemade butter which was divine. For our main meal, we shared the heirloom tomato salad, trout almandine, and "Big Mec" with frites. The heirloom salad - although simple - was refreshing and had a perfectly balanced dressing. The trout was the start of the show. Crispy skin, crispy almonds, and SWIMMING in butter. The Big Mec was also quite good, but I think at that point I was a bit too full to enjoy it. But the meat was cooked well, and the sauce they drizzle on top was tasty. No dessert since we were stuffed. It was truly an indulgent meal. Of the French restaurants I have had in LA, I'd say Petit Trois was memorable. I think if I were to go again I would visit their Sherman Oaks location solely based on the ambiance.

Small brasserie, sitting at the bar, shoulder-to-shoulder with everyone, watching the cooks work right in front of you. Before we even got our food I told my wife, "I hope this is the best restaurant in LA because I already think this might be my favorite restaurant." We were told the Big Mec was the move for a first visit. So rich, so delicious. I've honestly never had a burger quite in that category before. We had the steak frites too and loved it. The whole thing just felt like a great lunch. Taking our time, hanging at the bar, nowhere to rush off to. Only thing missing was a glass of wine, which I'll fix next time. Very excited we finally made it. Can't wait to come back.

And the food, which skews rustic/French/Mediterranean, is phenomenal as well. I highly recommend getting an order of baguettes with butter. They come out warm and fresh. The grilled octopus with avocado mousse and toasted hazelnuts is always charred to perfection. And the Portuguese piri-piri shrimp is extremely flavorful as well. For entrees, I almost always get the fresh pappardelle, served with a poached egg on top. With creme fraiche and porcini mushrooms, the dish is so creamy, eggy, and rich. Could almost lick the bowl when I'm done. Don't skip dessert. They have a consistently fantastic dessert menu, including a decadent pumpkin basque cheesecake that made my mouth water on a recent visit.

The ambience is pretty, especially the area with the lights on the ceiling, but the overall vibe felt more lively and party-like THAN romantic. The music was house music, there was a lot going on, and some people showed up in costumes with groups of friends. If you want to spend time with your friends I say come here but don't expect the food to be good. If you saw this place from TikTok and thought it would feel like a little Disney scene it really didn't feel that way to me. My boyfriend and I waited about 15 minutes past our reservation time to be seated, even though it wasn't very busy. The staff was flexible and nice about moving us to a diff spot near the lights, which I appreciated. But we still waited a full hour for our food, and no one checked in on us until after it arrived :/ My bf ordered the $80 steak, which was a small portion and wasn't very good. He said he didn't like how the potatoes were made it was super chunky and they have it with green beans instead of asparagus if that's your preference... but we've seen juicier, larger steak at Nonna's for $20 less. As for me I ordered the pappardelle, but I didn't enjoy it. The noodles tasted doughy, and didn't like how they cut out leaf peas and fried garlic in the mixture... so we were not fans of the food. As for the housemade malawach bread it was super oily and the leafs on top were long. I mean presentation of the food was cute but not tasty or enjoyable lol. The setting is nice, but the service and food didn't live up to what we expected. For a more romantic dinner, I'd choose somewhere like Cara or Nonna's instead because this was just super disappointing for my 2 year anniversary dinner experience.

You can really tell that the food and ingredients are super high quality! As for what we ordered: - Escargots (5/5), no notes - super flavorful and tasty standard escargots done right! - French onion soup (5/5): the cheese was nicely melted and the soup was rich. Classic choice, can't go wrong! - Duck confit (5/5): never had this before but oh man it was so good! The duck skin was light and crispy, not oily at all and the duck was juicy. The flavors shined throughout and the purées complimented the duck really nicely. Super balanced dish - Beef Bourguignon (4/5): I wanted to love this more but I think the wine sauce was too overpowering. The beef was fork tender and cooked really nicely but I just thought the sauce was too strong. Everything else was nice! - pistachio crème brulee (5/5): I was so surprised but this was so good!! Never had these flavors before but it was the perfect blend of light and airiness with a hint of pistachio! Service was standard, they give table bread which was good and fresh! Parking is tough since it's in DTLA but it was easy on a Sunday night!

Our party of 4 went witb 2 Le Burger orders, a french onion tartine appetizer and an order of Steak Au Poivre. The french onion tartine appetizer was basically a deconstructed french onion soup. It came on a delicious toasted bread, covered by those french onions, the melted cheese and then that soup broth wad poured on top. It tasted very yummy and would satisfy any french onion soup connoisseur. The Streak Au Poivre was served medium rare, was sliced onto pieces and was served with w very tasty steak juice. In the thick burger patty category, it was probably the tastiest burger I've ever had. The meat was so juicy, so flavorful and hit a lot of flavor notes, from savory from this juicy patty to mildly sweet from the caramelized onions and just extremely tender and juicy with each and every bite.
