My opinion on Salad has always been "okay I'll eat it as long as it isn't boring the 'F'''k' outta me" LOL!! Lettuce and Tomatoes are just toppings people, they're not a meal. So when we're talking about a really great Salad it has to have fresh flavorful ingredients, interesting textures, delicious protein portions, and dressing so amazing it demands my attention. Equally important too is a fair Value to Satisfaction ratio, am I satisfied with how much I spent and did it meet my expectations? And moving forward that's exactly how I rate a place that serves mostly Salads these days. With all that out of the way let's get into Chopt of Florham Park. - When I first stopped in here I was surprised at how huge the space is with plenty of seating options and an efficient ordering/ pickup area which moves along pretty quickly. Everything is made fresh to order so if you didn't already pre- order expect to wait a bit especially during peak hours. My go-to meal is based on variations of their Mexican Caesar Salad and since everything here is fully customizable it usually consists of: Grilled Chicken, Cotija Cheese, Jalapeño Peppers, Tortilla Chips, Romain Lettuce, and Mexican Caesar Dressing. It's a Super Solid Spicy Salad which is extremely satisfying and helps keep me going throughout even the busiest of days. Value to Satisfaction ratio: I have read where some people say that they charge more here for their meals but just as a friendly reminder you're really getting what you pay for. Especially when you take into consideration that all ingredients are sourced fresh locally and responsibly and contain no artificial preservatives whatsoever. I really wanted to like this Chopt location, but they need to do better. On my visit, several of the toppings looked old and even had what appeared to be freezer residue on them. It wasn't very appetizing and honestly gave me the heebie jeebies seeing the condition of some of the ingredients. The staff was friendly, which I appreciate, and I think with fresher ingredients this location could absolutely be a hit. I ordered the Wasabi Salmon bowl tonight, but substituted the salmon for grilled chicken. I opted for the warm grains for the base and it was completely inedible. Not worth my time to take a pic of my order. If I could give ZERO stars I would. I am disgusted by my visit to this location. I was greeted warmly upon my entering this location. I placed my order and asked for more of bacon and was promptly advised it would cost me $2.99! What! I had never been charged more of 1 item I ordered at other locations. I find the lack of customer service and lack of empathy by the manager, Ash absolutely disgusting. IMHO, it's a bit of a stretch for Chopt to advertise that it offers vegetarian salads. I was surprised/disappointed to see their employees repeatedly dipping their gloved hands into various ingredients, including containers of chicken, bacon and shrimp, undoubtedly contaminating the other ingredients (e.g., veggies, cheese, toppings) with remnants of the protein. I was told that employees change their gloves after every 5 salads. Even if they remember to do that, it's not sufficient. Their gloves might already contain animal products after making just one salad, plus the containers from which they were grabbing veggies, cheese, etc., might already be contaminated. This isn't rocket science, folks. If Chopt respected their vegetarian customers, they would do better. Lastly, I echo the observations of others regarding the lackadaisical nature of the chopping. Large portions of fresh vegetables and salad conveniently "chopped" into a huge pile to satisfy and fill you up for either lunch or dinner. If not the Mexicali vegan which is spicy and vibrant, I tend to make my own salad with their beets, panko fried chicken, parmesan quinoa crisps, and avocado. The first 4 items added to your salad are free with the base price at around $8 but besides that expect to get charged about a dollar for each item added and around $3-4 for any proteins. Because the portions are so massive and I'm not a fan of taking home leftover salad, I tend to get the children's portion which is still large enough for lunch alongside a cup of tomato basil soup. Because the lines and orders could take long around lunchtime and dinner, I tend to use the app and order ahead which uses LevelUp for payment. I wasn't too crazy about ordering the soup for pickup due to the croutons becoming soggy and soaking up most of my soup. When they ask you if they'd like a slice of bread with your salad, the answer is always yes. This slice of bread is rustic, yeasty, and fragrant. If you're looking to take a break from Panera, I highly recommend this place - price point is similar and the staff is friendly. Parking at this lot with Trader Joes and McDonalds is nearly impossible most times of the day so expect to be circling around a few times. Pretty disappointed in my experience today. I've been a longtime fan of Chopt, specifically this location, but after today I'm not sure I'll be coming back. The portion sizes have reduced so dramatically that even after my Mediterranean grain bowl I was still left hungry. I wish I took photos but it was comparable to my friends kid-size salad. Except it wasn't kid-size prices, it was $15!! And the salads aren't as finely chopped as they once were, seems like they're cutting corners and don't care as much anymore. I never been to a Chopt before but think of a Chipotle assembly line but just salad in this case. Lots of different salads to choose from or you can also create your own with whichever toppings your heart desires. Once you pick all your ingredients, you go to the next station and a staff member will chop up your salad as much as you like. It's a really nice addition to the neighborhood. Chopt pretty much completes the Florham Park Plaza in terms of having healthy options. The line was pretty long and looked very overwhelming today (they just opened). But just like any Chipotle line - it moves super quick! The ingredients are super fresh and you really can't go wrong with any salad. Prices are reasonable, staff is super friendly & efficient. This place is amazing, wish I knew about this place earlier I would eat here every day if I could. Another place I love. They have a selection of toppings to add on your salad. It's exciting to return to try the different recipes and creative salads Chopt has to offer. Upon returning I learn that Chopt changes their menu and the signature salads, they get replaced every 6 months. I was a bit disappointed, but intrigued to try something new. I was so use to getting the Chicken tinga, I was hooked. But no more PICKLED ONIONS, NOOOOO. Please bring it back. The salad dressings are all amazing, wish I could buy the Green goddess and use it on all my salads I make at home. Staff is awesome, they always give me anything extra I need. Plus they are just happy people. Every time I dine-in someone will greet me, ask how I am, and ask if I need anything. I love this place so much but today really was a disappointment. I walk in, there are 3 people behind the counter. No one acknowledged me, and after a whole 5 minutes, someone finally asks what I want. I ask for 2 salads. After he puts on the dressing, I asked him to chop them. He said "you really want me to chop it after I put on the dressing?" I said yes. He goes "yikes". Like isn't the name of the establishment CHOPT? Isn't that the whole point??? I was here for a late lunch on a Thursday. I had never been to a Chopt before and was pleased with the menu and quality of the food. A warm bowl was perfect for a cold and rainy day. Disclaimer: I didn't actually walk into this place. Someone brought me a salad from there. I know I gave it 3 stars but let me explain.... The "professional" pics of the salads are misleading. They show these colorful beautifully presented salads that are very inviting. It's misleading because the name of the place is "Chopt". So if my salad is going to be chopped it clearly won't look like the pics on the website. I love avocado but I've suspected I had an allergy to it. So I asked for it to be on the side so I could test it out. The did put it in a small cup on the side. There were some brown spots which isn't appealing. However it tasted like they may have sprinkled a little lemon juice on it. It tasted great. (PS-if u care, yes I did have a severe allergic reaction to the avocado. But the taste was so worth it!! I won't be chancing it again tho lol) On to the salad....taste wise it was very good. Of course chopped salads tend to look sloppy & not appealing for some ppl. That doesn't bother me. (If it bothers u & u must have the professional pic look, this isn't for u). As for me, I care more abt taste & freshness. I think this place is just fantastic!!!! delicious!!!! and a dreams come true for salad lovers!!!! this is my third time at this place sorry it took me a long time to write a review but here it is. I WILL BE HONEST I tried believe me I tried to get other salads from their menu but I cannot. Their spicy chicken santorini salad with kale and quinoa is everything to me. I cannot eat anything else and every time I think about getting something new I felt. the spicy chicken santorini is one of the only two warm dishes and thanks to a friend that suggested me to add the pickle raddish the salad is heaven. I thought their FREE bread was so tasty and their spa Free water infused with mint and cucumber was so refreshing. I really like this place and I am sure once you try it you will love it. They have a whole selection of topping and you can create you own. I feel this location their service is very friendly and they are very fast, but the only problem here is that it is very popular that every Monday to Friday from 12-1 is pack so you will wait in line for a while. I've been going to this Chopt for a while and sadly today I had a terrible experience. Chicken is in large chunks and so was the avocado. The avocado wasn't completely ripe and very firm. First thing I noticed walking in was how open the space was. The ceiling was so high and the tables weren't overcrowded. This was my first time and I ordered the Spicy Cashew Soba Noodles. I added some tofu for extra protein in there. The Sriracha definitely gives it a kick. The only thing I didn't like was an after taste that lingered on afterwards.
