This Chopstix, behind the Whataburger and next to Twin's Jewelry Factory is bigger inside than it looks from the outside. There was a stack of boxes and clutter covering the first booth at the entrance... not a good sign. So, it's a bit dark, weathered, and a little divey... They offer an extensive menu for both take-out and dine in. The dining room opens up as you turn to the right, and they have quite a few booths and tables. The tables were clean - though I didn't see the kitchen nor the restrooms. The service was efficient though lacked professionalism, very casual, almost nonchalant. I found the food to be fair though not nearly as good as where I usually go (which had a panda for a mascot). My soup was not evenly warmed... probably heated up in a microwave, and lukewarm at best. The spring roll was pretty good. The entree (spicy chicken with vegetables) was greasy, though it had a decent flavor. Mediocre at best. I seriously doubt I will return since there are other nearby options which do much better. That's sad, because they have the potential for better. read more

If you want to have a good time at Chopstix, I think it's important to lower your expectations. For a low price you get greasy, dirty, but delicious american chinese food. Most of the food coming out is of subpar quality but at the price they sell food at, who cares? The reality is that a lot of restaurants are dirty. It's obvious that Chopstix is no exception, given the ridiculous amount of reviews that include bugs in them but i have personally never experienced this so I keep coming back. The worse thing I've experienced is that they've left out a sauce or a soup every now and then, but whatevs I have sauce at home - that could be really annoying to other people tho. Service is always pretty good tho :) Ultimately, I like this place a lot despite its downsides. read more

I keep giving this place chances. I don't know why though. This is the third time I've had a cockroach in my food. And when I told the waitress about it, she shrugged it off, said its not a big deal, and she could "just get me another one" This place is disgusting. read more

Chopstix - Disgusting. - Vietnamese Near Me - Edinburg, Texas

Just to give a bit background: I enjoy Chinese food, so much so that I would have to say it is probably my favorite type of food. I live in close proximity to Chopstix, but had not eaten here based on a poor past experience. I decided to give them a second chance since it had been almost 5 years since my last visit. I placed an order over the phone and was very pleasantly surprised to hear that the order would be ready in 10 minutes! I arrived for my order and the gentleman was pleasant and efficient. When I reached my home and I opened my order, I realized that my order was completely wrong. I was given curry rice rather than the curry chicken and my pad thai that I ordered was not in the bag. I phoned up and asked to speak to the manager on duty and explained what was wrong with my order. She was less than accommodating and offered to exchange my order if none of the food had been eaten. Of course I had not eaten it! Why would I eat something that I did not want in the first place. When I arrived the young woman proceeded to inspect the food and treated me as if I had done something wrong. At this point I had already wasted 40 minutes of my day picking up and exchanging food, so I got fed up and asked for refund. The woman then notified me that it could take up to 5 business days for the money to post to my account and she did nothing to try and make the situation better. Based on my experience, I do not recommend this establishment. They have very poor customer service! Spend your hard-earned money somewhere else! read more

Meat was very hard. Manager or owner couldn't accept their food isn't good and made a rude comment. The meat was always tender until recently. Soup was stale and horrible. Waiter was the best part about it he experience. Food was not good would not recommend read more

Hadn't eaten here in ten years. I was surprised how sub mediocre the food is. I ordered Kung pao beef and the meat was not tasty and had poor texture. I traded by dish for my date's general tso chicken and the meat was also subpar. Then I ordered beef brisket pho and the dish was bland even after adding hoisin and sriracha sauce. I'm giving it two stars for the ambiance. read more

I love this place!!! Not only is the food amazing, it is also very cheap! The waiters and waitresses are extremely friendly. I am so glad that they opened a location in Edinburg! read more

Went through the drive thru and it took awhile only because there were so many people picking up food as well. However, the wait was completely worth it. The best beef broccoli I've had in a really long time. The lo mein is amazingly good and the egg roll was delicious. I was sad when I finished my egg roll. The egg drop soup is also really good! I also had the fried rice and it was good very flavorful. I got all of this on a dinner combo deal (lo mein was extra)... $9 for all of it so it was a good deal!! I will never go back to house of china this place is so good!! read more

The food wasn't so great nor fresh for that matter. The server looked like he was dragging his soul with him. My fiance and I were excited to taste a new Chinese place, but it was not what we expected. Save your money or go somewhere else. read more

Just a quick heads up. When ordering the general tso or chow.. make sure you pick the white meat because it makes a huge difference it's just a dollar more so it won't hurt. I ordered the regular dish and well I can honestly say it wasn't as or even close to worth my 8 dollars.. it was a bit under cooked and bland . I knew I messed up when the waiter recommend me to chose the white poultry over the dark poultry. But as a sit down with a stomach ache I can honestly recommend you to choose the white meat over dark.. my friend just happen order that and well it turned out to be better than my dish. The soup was good and so was the egg roll and our waiter was very nice so I give it a 2 out of 5 . read more

Excellent food. HOWEVER: Toward the end of our dinner, the two adjacent tables were taken over by a large extended family, who exercised NO control over their children. Not only were they yelling and jumping all over the furniture, two pre - teen boys were actually kick boxing! When we brought this chaos to the attention of our waitress, she said there was nothing she could do about it. We urged her to alert her manager, which she failed to do. We love Vietnamese food, but we will never return to this restaurant. read more

I've ordered from here, and had food delivered once or twice after hang them a 5 dollar tip. Their fried rice is good, even if its just the the plain fried rice, that comes with the lunch specials. I have ordered their sweet and sour chicken and General Tao's chicken lunch special and its really good and comes with a choice of soup. The Hot and Sour soup is good choice .the egg roll is another story... :( I also had their clams in black bean sauce it was okay, careful though you may find it has either small rocks/sand or fragments of shells when you eat it... Over all pretty decent. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE. I've eaten here quite a few times, and yes I have gotten sick from my stomach eating here before. This time though.. I have no idea where they source their food, water or how clean they keep this place... but this time I ended up in the ER with blood in places where it shouldn't be and the absolute worst abdominal pain. Even though the doctor couldn't identify what it was that I had, I'm more than positive I had some sort of bacterial infection. BUGS FOUND IN FOOD! Disgusting, dirty, OVERHYPED, quantity over quality, mess of a restaurant . Various foods are frozen, very often over cooked, and sometimes over seasoned. Nothing wrong with service, but this restaurant THRIVES over the bandwagon effect. read more

I used to come to this place every so often, and like many others who have reviewed this place, i too will not come back here anymore. They probably have one of the worst customer service here in the valley. The waitstaff is slow and inattentive, out of it and doesn't seem to know what's going on in the restaurant business. I too experienced a "bug" in my food as well.. TRUST me, don't go here.. it's my last time! read more

**In case you don't read the rest: The fried bananas with ice cream is AMAZING. Well I mean, compared to the ones sold at Japanese restaurants here in the valley. Comes with a lot too. Great for sharing** I went here around 4 times before reviewing and so far, so good. I got my food within 15 min of ordering. The servers are really nice here if you are and the place itself feels cozy with slightly dimmed lights. Okay on to food: While it's not the most authentic Chinese or Vietnamese, the food is still really good. You get Huge portions for the entrées and the lunch special (11-3) are only $6 with rice, soup, egg roll too! **My favorite thing to order: beef fried rice & fried chicken wings appetizer (8). The portion for the rice is HUGE so plan to share our take some home.** (If anyone wants suggestions) my other orders were: Beef pan fried noodles: really good after you mix it, feeds at least 2 people. I love the crunchy noodles Egg drop soup: add some of the red pepper sauce thing they have on the side and throw some of the fried crackers in = PERFECTION Mongolian beef lunch special: decent but I'd mainly reorder for the green vegetable in it (yum) Beef fried rice: my favorite, very tasty and huge huge portion Garlic fried rice with vegetables: eh vegetables feel dry Fried chicken wings: might taste a little plain alone but perfect with a tasty fried rice Ginger wings: really good with a plain rice because it has a lot of sauce, maybe with the garlic fried rice Steamed dumplings: my favorite sauce, decent dumplings. 10 for $5 not bad compared to most restaurants 6 for $5 Vietnamese Pork egg rolls: yuck. So weird. The lettuce is soggy & they don't offer the cucumbers and carrots Pho tai: HUGE BOWL for less than $7 & decent pho, good enough to satisfy my craving if mixed with a lot of Sriracha and a little hoisin. the meat feels a little overcooked for pho though but still good. Maybe ask for the cilantro and bean sprouts on the side though because they put them at the bottom without tearing off the leaves first. Maybe can even feed 3 people My only gripe is that they don't have any special beverages you'd expect such as Thai tea or Vietnamese coffee, but they have a drive through which is cool. All in All, portions big enough to share and make a split bill way cheaper read more

Worst Chinese restaurant that's scored a high 43 demerits with no certified proper food manager on duty, no paper towels, infested with mice droppings on a child's plate of beef and broccoli, and pieces of dead bugs torso found on the plate of shrimp and Asian noodles. I have eaten at this restaurant quite a few times throughout the years, even when they only had the Mission location here in the Valley. Customer service has never been that great in this Edinburg location, but the price was fine and it was near the university. Today, I ate at their restaurant and experienced customer service so horrible that I had to review them online, which I have honestly been too lazy to ever do before. Other than repeatedly getting our orders wrong and charging us for the wrong things, the waitress kept bringing us food that were not the correct size and not even the correct dish while claiming that they were what we ordered. Apparently chicken curry doesn't have chicken in it -.- Because it was difficult to communicate with the waitress and she clearly didn't know what the dishes looked like in the restaurant she worked at, we had to resort to calling the manager. When asked if we could have the proper size of the dish we ordered, he blamed us for ordering the wrong size (we did not) and just annoyedly said fine and walked away. Because we were seated next to the kitchen, we saw as he continued to the kitchen and slammed the dish we returned into the trash so hard that the top of the bin flew off. When he came back with the "correct size", it was really just the same thing put in a bigger plate. Again, we have eaten here quite a few times and even in their other locations so we know how big the portions really are. Perhaps the waitress was new and her mistakes were forgivable, but blaming the customers is uncalled for, especially in the manager's part. I would even let this pass if the place was so busy, but there were only 3 other groups in the restaurant with us. There's more I could say, not just from this visit but from previous ones too, but I feel that the manager's actions this time warranted a review. read more

fried rice was okay, alil salty....shaking beef salty....beef vermicelli bowl salty...if you can get the point. i'm Vietnamese and alot of the "vietnamese" food on their menu is way off. the spring rolls are not appealing and falls apart cuz too much noodles were used. the PHO...we got the Special Pho...and all i can say is that its not Pho. its water down and who uses pork meat balls when Pho is all beef based. and no Hoisin sauce and sriacha was brought with the Pho. been awhile since i visited the mission location so i hope they are not like this new location.
