The inside is no frills with images displaying some offered menu items. My order of Chicken & Broccoli, and Mu Shu Pork were both well prepared, and as good as anything I have had in San Francisco where I live. Regarding the Mu Shu Pork, the restaurant provided Wonton wrappers, vs the traditional pancakes, and did not provide a Plum or Hoisin sauce that is often added to the Mu Shu Pork packet. FYI, H-E-B should carry Hoisin Sauce which we had. Overall a good experience, I would go back.

If you're looking for Chinese noodle cuisine in Waco, this is it! I'm coming from California, so…read moreit was nice to have this authentic place. We tried the stir fry sliced noodles, potstickers, pan fried meat buns (bao), soup dumplings, spicy beef noodle soup with hand pulled noodles. I highly recommend the pan fried meat buns which are huge! The fluffiness of the dough is the right texture. I also highly recommend the stir fry sliced noodles. This is was on point for the texture of the noodles and how this dish really should be. This is a signature dish of northern China. The spicy beef noodle soup had the spicy heat but it was not too spicy. This was more like the China version of this soup with beef pieces vs the Taiwanese version with braised beef shank slices. It had the nice addiction of bok choy, which is a staple. But also had sliced carrots and shiitake mushrooms. The hand pulled noodles of this dish was definitely the highlight and were the real deal. Long and great texture. The potstickers had wrappers that were notably thinner and a ton of meat inside. This tasted more like Korean mandu dumplings. The soup dumplings were also bigger than what is typically had in California. The wrappers were not as super thin on these (probably due to the size) and was not as super juicy, but I'm comparing to the pinnacle of soup dumplings from Ding Tai Fung in California. Staff was super friendly and checked on us a couple of times. I'd definitely would come back.

This was my second time visiting this place, and I really enjoyed it again!…read more There were four of us, and we spent around $50 total, which I thought was pretty reasonable for everything we ordered. For appetizers, we got the crab puffs. The combination of the crispy puff, cream cheese, and crab was delicious! We also ordered the steamed dumplings, which had a nice combination of vegetables and ground meat. I liked that the appetizers balanced each other out--one was a little sweeter, while the other was more savory. For our main dishes, we ordered Kung Pao chicken with fried rice. You really can't go wrong with Kung Pao chicken! The spice level was just right for me, although I do enjoy spicy food, so keep that in mind if you prefer milder flavors. We also ordered the beef with snow peas, and I was honestly surprised by how much I liked it. It was a new way for me to try snow peas, and I'm officially a fan! We also got the wonton soup. It looks simple, but it has a lot of flavor and was actually a nice palate cleanser between dishes. I went with my aunt, who usually isn't a big fan of eating out because she tends to have not-so-great experiences. However, this place earned her "I like it" stamp both for the food and the service! The only thing she mentioned was that the food was a little salty for her taste. She usually eats food with very little salt, though, so I think that's more of a personal preference than a complaint about the food itself. The restaurant itself is pretty, welcoming, and comfortable, and the service was fast and friendly. Definitely a place I'd come back to!

I also tried the roti and that made me wish I had more of it. They suggested dipping it in the courier. They were totally right by itself. It's tasty but with the curry it's much much better. The people at the store were very helpful and the kitchen was happening. They packed everything to go for me so I could take it to my hotel room. It was perfect. Definitely wanna go back.

BUT I swear on my life that if I see a family taking their children to the China Grill I'm calling child protective services for abuse. I was on a road trip and saw the sign and stopped in. After being unable to eat my random chicken-like food with a white sauce and my pepper "steak" I ate some broccoli, carrots and mushrooms off of the salad bar along with steamed rice. If you're reading this and thinking that the other reviewers are snob and you want to give this place a shot... don't. No one is expecting incredible chinese food in Waco, we just want "edible".

Drink: I ordered a large peach green tea with boba, no ice,…read moreand it was fantastic. The tea was brewed beautifully , fresh, balanced, and not syrupy sweet like some other boba spots. The boba itself was perfectly chewy and just sweet enough to complement the drink, not overpower it. I also really appreciated that, even with no ice, they filled my cup completely to the top. Simple, thoughtful detail and it makes all the difference. Service: The staff here was genuinely kind and patient. I asked a few questions about sweetness levels and tea bases (I'm mindful about sugar intake), and they answered every one with care, no judgment, no pressure, no upselling. They made the drink exactly how I ordered it and didn't try to push other menu options on me. That respect and attentiveness go such a long way. Ambiance: Cha Community has such a warm, creative vibe, red brick walls, cozy coffeehouse energy, indie music, local art, and stickers that make the space feel personal and loved. The whole café smelled amazing, and you can tell they've put heart into the details. It's the kind of place that feels like a little pocket of calm and connection in the middle of the day. Overall: Highly recommend stopping here if you're in Waco. The experience was night and day, proof that quality, care, and consistency matter more than anything else. Refer to my Poppa Bear review if you want the comparison, but honestly, just come to Cha Community first.
